It was a break out year though in terms of goal output hopefully he could keep that up.
  2. Agreed the club can't win here if we stand firm for 7 weeks like manu did for mbeumo we are at risk of repeating the mistake of last summer and running out of time. If we move on to other targets the narrative appears rejection after rejection and go from position to position not getting very far. We need speed and pivoting at the same time a small recruitment team can't be helping matters.
  3. That's why I said two summers are massive If you agree albeit a different order that the areas I identified need resolving this summer and if the budget is 150 to 200m this window to spend I would like to put 40m into a keeper that will be here for years to come. However there is simply too much to do right now. Club seemingly agree with both of us they want him and tried to get him but not at 35m or 40m as we can't afford to do that and everything else.
  4. I don't agree as the elevation of the bench is just as much of a pressing need as a 7th keeper. If I put it in order its RW - got great Striker or hybrid forward- Isak is gassed regularly in games after 60m Gordon, Barnes,Murphy have all tried and failed to hold the line. Wilson gone and Osula is so raw I wouldn't want him as our only recognised Striker RCB- Schar is class but had some poor games kraft is OK but again don't want him starting regularly and I don't rate lascelles who has had 15 months or so out. Midfield- we currently have 5 for 3 spots I don't rate willock and miley is still an unknown quantity. Not sure if big joes knees will hold out over a long season. LB is still potentially iffy too targett seems shite and unreliable now Tino and Hall are fantastic but if one gets injured and Trips is away or having a stinker it leaves us a little short there too. I guess I probably phrased it wrong its not last piece of the puzzle its the pressing need still in other areas still. Which does kind of circle around to my original point I think if it was Pope is retiring or won't get a new deal and all we needed was a pope replacement then yes go all out but we have a big shopping list this summer and next to get through.
  5. I just think we have left ourselves too much to do with the small pool of players we seemingly like or want. Ready and desperate to look stupid again and the club pull it off. What's more scary is we have quite a bit of work to do next summer so over spend or leave recruitment areas until next year leaves another big window.
  6. I think its got context though no signings for ages, ages spent on tracking and monitoring as seen by revisiting past targets for little to no reward. The club trying and working hard may still leave the club short of players and another hard slog season. While I would normally say reserve judgement for the end the window its been a very hard slog with regular bad news it starts to get to you. This isn't a well we missed out on him and move on when it appears to come at every turn.
  7. If he was the last piece of the puzzle and we needed him and say one other then yeah agreed 40m on the table get it done especially as we been keen for age's. However the club have alot to do seemingly not an endless pot of money as transformative a ball playing keeper maybe we can't be blowing a huge chunk of funds when we still don't know where else we need to spend and how expensive these players are going to get. Its a tough one part of the big negative of not being able to sign in 3 windows is as people age out it leaves us with more and more and more to recruit. There doesn't appear to be the money or the staff capable at Newcastle at present to do it all.
  8. Ouch my very glass half full and has a hole in it brain can't help reading that as nothing imminent as we need a ceo to agree with the ownership and if they want to change direction or have more time to think the can gets kicked further. Surely the CEO has to come in wanting to action what the ownership want delays to consider are doing more harm than good right now.
  9. Agreed and while strong argument to be had about their quality we have increased our workload as a side getting into europe but lost or losing Miggy Wilson Longstaff Kelly You could say lascelles being fit now is Kelly replacement and Elanga is miggy upgrade but we're still short on quality and numbers. I also would he happy with willock and targett going but don't see anymore sales being sanctioned while we need to bring bodies in. I know the recruitment team know this but can they push enough to do something about it.
  10. With all the considering/pondering/monitoring to do in between bidding and being rejected I agree I don't see the current team working at the pace with the distraction of the league being 4 weeks away from starting to get in 3 or 4. That's without the fear of how far down the list they will need to head to get anyone (if targets are indeed in order of preference). I very much want to be proved wrong.
  11. I am sure I am missing the joke but my son has severe special needs and wears these shoes is there a problem with them ?

Genuinely interested thoughts for those who watch more of him looking at his goal record he seems to have massively out performed his previous seasons tally. Is this a case of all clicking? Good side last year or a purple/golden season he can't replicate?
  13. I know my comments I can already argue with myself over there are a list of reasons The calibre of player has other top teams interested. We are hampered by precieved local, presitege etc We can't pay champions league wages Howe has a set sort of player and character he wants. Unwilling sellers and high prices for us and the market. The money has to work and stretch no room for errors. HOWEVER We are or feels like we are so close to kicking in with good recruitment. We are or feels like we are a few injuries away with the current holes in the squad of having a mare of a season. We have champions league now does it not attract or count for anything? Just very frustrating its seemingly becoming a hard slog.
  14. Taking a week plus to get a deal done 3 to 5 players to sign 6 weeks left loads of time to weigh up, assess, consider etc take your time lads always jan window 😭
  15. Eddie turns his attention to a RCB he does realise we ain't filled the forward position yet 😭
  16. Taking some of the snippets some journos have said about having targets at different values I hope that going for a cheaper option in wissa means there is more money to spend on say a midfielder etc. Seems like a massive come down from a 23 year old hot prospect to a soon to be 29 year old who has no resale value when we are done with them in 3 or 4 years (resale value does matter in my opinion in psr terms and when your paying a prem premium) Still if Eddie wants him and he's on the list of identified targets and not a panic pivot I can get behind it. Issue of a few clubs being keen and selling club value doesn't sound a recipe for a quick resolution when we are running out of time this can't get dragged out.
  17. hopefully something definitive to put us out of our collective misery, was Craig no Hope he said it would be clear in next 24 hours so hopefully that's based on more than a hunch.
  18. Will he wear a toon one on match days though 🤔
  19. Think euros and pounds being muddled together I think it's 100m euro or around £85/86m depending on exhange rates I guess.
  20. I think he can take his minutes no bother issue is still about the quality of pool of players when sandro/bruno/big joe drop out of the lineup. If we play a system needing 3 in the middle I am not sure how good willock and miley are as rotation options or possibly through injury a bigger run in the side would be. I guess with a restricted budget all areas of the pitch can't be "fixed" in one window
  21. So do people expect a replacement? Do we need a midfielder with big Joe's injury issues, willock being well bit shit and miley still developing. Or do we park midfielder and put the funds elsewhere?
  22. Great move for him, and the club can't deny the commitment the lack of toys being thrown spending a lot of last season on the bench. Unfortunately, the trajectory on the pitch from the squad has gone past him and his ceiling. Will be remembered for the Champions League qualification season and hope he goes on to have a fab career elsewhere.
  23. Also patronising as fuck him saying good on Newcastle for putting that big offer in for ekitike but you know how its going to go......
  24. So highlights botman limping but then doing bleep test? Willocks first touch bouncing away from him 🤣 And trips and bruno doing the cross bar challenge. Plus how amazing does that setting look.
