Sell all you want no player should be irreplaceable the difference i hope is we sell we buy just as good or better. The bigger sales fees we got over the years we never then spent that on 1 in 1 out replacement or better. It went on a poorer player his agent fees, wages etc Once cheap dead wood goes however we manage to do that spend on quality editions

Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season
nufcjmc replied to InspectorCoarse's topic in Football
We are no longer shackled by money in the sense sacking a manager due to compo and how that will impact budgets is no longer our problem. While i don't want a revolving door of managers in this instance sack Bruce now and then if manager 1 doesn't work start again we are so early doors while we don't want to waste the chance to rebuild let's face it bad decisions are made by everyone difference here I hope is that I hope this ownership just brush it off and move on. -
I wonder what you do with deadwood, pay up their contract to let them go? Offer them up for dirt cheap? Loan out and supplement wages for life of contract? Deregister the player to free up squad places. When your rich it doesn't matter except helps balance the books for FFP but needs to be done to make way for possibly 3 or 4 quality Jan additions?

Was thinking more of what we were doing but on a grander better organised scale, buy players for the areas we need (to begin with thats in alot of areas) and possibly put up with "stepping stone" style signings as they are the ones that will first want to come as we cant offer european football as we can offer them bigger wages and chance to get in the shop window. Hopefully if/when success then comes after season X we then look to just improve and move on older/less effective players and dont need to worry about the calibre of player that would turn us down as we can go for anyone but thats not day one or season one. Difference is if we sell a player on for 30m I hope that then means we replace them with at least a new 30m or more player meaning over time you do a Leicester style buy and sell to improve the squad. We aint buying 6/7/8 players a window we will have to put up with a big rebuild with mistakes along the way (be that wrong manager or wrong signing) its the nature of the beast but that wont hopefully be then held as a reason to not brush yourself off and move on.

loans require loan fees and the money is gone lack of squad space when we have been willing to leave players without squad numbers is just an excuse, no more signings is just another nail in the coffin.

Going to the game but then pointing out your displeasure does get more exposure than a website participant sitting here saying the players, manager owner, league are cunts. Its difficult as you still went and therefore you were a bum of seat which masks unrest and unhappiness as the camera pans around the stadium and continues to see bums on seats neglecting the obvious that we have had shite served and shoveled down our throats for over a decade. No right or wrong answers I am afraid one upping or snapping at each other doesn't help a divided fan base is alot easier to control and this has been so prolonged of a shit show I dont blame people for just accepting their lot in the hope one day some how it gets better.

I hate him but he has such poor way with words if he said something like " we know its a tough league and we look to improve year on year we want to push on and get into the top 10" or " we know that the league is tough and the places at the top are currently beyond our reach but our aim is to be competitive with everyone as we look to move up the league and be in the mix with the clubs consistently challenging in the top half" everything is just so negative even his positive spins seem like BS or negative still, glad he isnt taking training sessions as I wouldnt feel confident beating a paper bag to the bin with him in charge.

He becomes a big fish in a small pond or chance to be while at Arsenal he is another talent youngster to come off the bench. Still thought he would have better options but you tend to enjoy your football when things are going well and he was golden for us that have season may have been the deciding factor.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rafael-benitez/spielertransfers/trainer/1522/plus/0/galerie/0?station_id=130579 I think most of the larger investments have turned poor mainly due to outstaying their shelf life. Muto and Murphy stand out in that list as poor initial buys. As has been mentioned more than once its hard to tell if this was rafa's 5th /6th choice or first rumour was he had to create a list to put forward for approval with cheap and more expensive players on it. So while you could say we bought poorly at times it doesnt show the full story.

3 year deal announced after our first 5 nil loss or 7 game losing streak? Better yet don't offer it till end of season so not knowing who the manager will be next can be used as an excuse not to invest in January window.
-
I know no one knows the answer but why 6 months specifically? Is it because the case load doesn't allow to meet till then? Do they HAVE to comply with the request for information? What's to stop the case meeting again in Jan or Feb and there still being an impass? All so frustrating there appears to not be a single jot of good news anywhere around the club at the minute, just as my daughter is showing an interest in football she frankly needs to stay clear of the club.

Idiots have always been here in society the difference is now the Internet is cheap and we all have smart phones and have free to join platforms like Instagram, twitter, FB etc that gives them a very big public voice to spout nonsense, it simply is a different world digitally from 20/30 years ago.

pay if you play, rarely used so costs next to nowt and takes up a squad place so they aren't "forced" to look for an alternative what's not to like........

seen as we have ventured off topic (a main stay of the place these days) I will try and not take this down a debate path but in my mind the posters here for years and contributing regularly and often is the biggest strength and weakness of the place. Without people contributing the forum would die and sometimes the same people can turn into a one voice sort of thing drowning out other opinion (you usually gravitate to people in life who challenge you or have a like minded point of view). It is bound to happen when we have been "together" for so long. Differences do occasionally get attacked and quite forcefully at times but sometimes people don't let it go and the loops we go around is tiresome for all involved. I do however commend people for having the strength of mind to put their opinion out there for others to analyse/mock/agree/disagree etc

I have no idea who you all are or why I am still coming here daily but that's the way I like it

Probably reading WAY too much into this but links so far are for relatively cheaper options with potential for their value to rise which is definitely an old club favourite strategy. Still knowing us more likely to go for frees again since it worked our so well last season.........

Sorry my rather in jest mentioning 2 years in relation to rafa has started a mini debate. I personally take the view it takes as long as it takes I have no legal background and can't pretend to know the exact due process in terms of what is time sensitive and what is not. I do know it's been going on a very long time and the prem appear to want to kick this into the long grass at every turn to frustrate and pull apart the consortium. For that reason alone nothing is certain but definitely agree with the notion these cases are not about the man child that is Ashley kicking up a stink as a form of pay back for not getting his 305/320/350m.
-
At the rate we are going Rafa could take a 2 year short deal elsewhere and we still may just about be ready for him.
-
we would never spend the money required to build back all we have lost in infrastructure, academy etc etc all in one go it would not be a blank cheque in that sense and I don't think anyone would expect even the richest of owners to sell everyone and start from scratch all in one close season. The noises from the press at the time this all seemed a formality was consistent spending over multiple windows and seasons. This for me would be more than enough and I am sure for others would seem light years ahead of what we are now as a club.

You could quite easily spin that around and say the need to televise 100% of the games due to non attendance would bring more people into the game. As match going public revenue wise for top leagues is chicken feed and "attending" games is impossible for some due to costs, travel, illness, disability etc etc. The game doesn't appear to be as special with no one there but that's because until very recently its not been the norm. Obviously that concept is only possible if they are willing to televise all games. It kills games and sports that need the crowd to fund the sport and where the tv money isn't enough to make it financially viable.
