Good words Mad. He has my sympathy as I know what it's like (not to the extent he's blown of course but it's all relative) as I've been battling gambling addiction for at least last 10 years. No sh*t. Fortunately not lost the house but there are days I worry it will happen. I think if it were not for the bairn then I'd be knackered and wor lass, for all I call her on here (jokingly) is great......Funny thing is I've never been on a fruit machine or those roulette machines found in bookies in my life. Horses and poker.
  3. The coverage on Sky has literally got me punch drunk......if you watch Sky long enought, it takes over your mind, makes you feel light headed and all thoughts become somewhat irrational. 48 hours ago I did not want Shearer whatsoever but then never expected Redknapp to be the 'favourite' either. Now I'd have Shearer.....that's how punch drunk I am now. Can't believe Redknapp is the best we can do. Surely......
  4. They say bookies are NEVER wrong. Shearer is quoted at 4/7 clear favourite (and for those that do not bet that is a COUNTRY MILE favouritism) to take the job. F*ck. I'd lie to say I did not want him to go but for Shearer? No way. It's all pointing towards a British manager but who?
  5. Exactly. Not exactly. I'm not satisified with merley being better than Sunderland. This season there are another 18 teams that I'd prefer us to be be above or failing that I'd drop my expectation to 14 teams. Times have changed and people are forking out a lot of cash and getting b*llocks in return. In fact total bollocks. Why settle for merely just being 'part' of the Premiership. It seems we have met most of the requirements needed in order for a club to operate successfully with the exception of one major component. The manager. You could argue the players. This is what is wrong with with most posters on this forum. They are not satisifed with mid-table medicrity and dull, lifeless performances. And why should they be?
  6. It makes me wince when I read comments about giving Sam 3-5 years just because it took Fergie and Wenger years to make their respective clubs one of the best in Europe. At the end of the day, Fergie and Wenger (the latter in particular) play a brand of football that is lively, exciting, fast, accurate and most of all successful. Can somebody (honestly) tell me that even if we gave Allardyce 5 solid years (or longer) that his 'brand' and 'style' of football would achieve similar results. No way. Not ever. That is my single gripe with this section of the forum. Those that believe that giving Allardyce 'Time' will produce the goods that we so crave because it worked for Wenger and Fergie. It's the brand of football that Allardyce employs that is so negative. Some slightly more positive football from him would result in far more positive posts on this forum or any other fora for that matter even when results go against us. For that I am sure.
  7. mackems.gif I've just read the above and just nearly fell of my chair with roars of laughter. The thing is though....it has just dawned on me that this could be an honest assessment. If so I feel like such a tit. blueyes.gif
  8. Given - 8.5 - Kept us in the tie and marshalled the back four as well as he could. Some world class saves. Rozehnal - 8 - left exposed too often by Taylor though was able to guide the back four through constant Stoke attacking. Taylor - 2 - Very poor. At fault for the Stoke goal that was ruled out for offside. Lucky not to have been sent off. Faye - 3 - Liability. Poor show all round. Bottled several tackles and Stoke's small front men and lack of aerial power still managed to cause Faye problems. Awful. Enrique - 8.5 - Class. Composed and comfortable on the ball. Looks as though he's played in the Premiership all of his life. Pacey. Duff - 2 - Obviously still not fit following recent long term injury and this showed having to be hauled off at half-time. At least 3 yards slower now than 12 months ago. Butt - 8 - Another player who held it together for the Mag's today. Tackled all day and got into some fantastic shooting positions. Let down by team mates inability to pass to him when in goalscoring positions. Smith - 8 - Played well but why did Sam take him off? Maybe he is listening to the fans who are seemingly unhappy with a player who has played consistently well this season? Toon lost without him. N'Zogbia - 3.5 - Headless chicken really. Uncomfortable on the ball. Gave far to much possesion away. Certainly top of my 'for sale' list. Owen - 7.5 - Looking sharp and back to full fitness. Maybe gained a yard since injury. Service to him much better and is regaining his prowess in front of goal. Viduka - 8 - Complimented Owen's running of the ball so well. Terrific lay of for the Owen shot that hit the bar. A lethal partnership being forged. Verdict - Good show by the majority and we are still in the hat! Yeah!!
  9. Martins worked the channels, stretched them, created room for others. Owen needs service. That's not the point, it's the result that's important. Sam got it proper' wrong playing 4-4-2, and 4-3-3 the other week. Should try a 1-1-8 we'd score loads of goalz, I mean goals... If he had been on a few mins longer he would have put away that first chance imo. Maybe so. It was the only decent ball we played up to him that I can remember. If we HAD given him another one he would have scored his strike rate says so. Joking aside we have basically been set back by two bad descisions in two big games. But that will average out as the season progresses. Generally happy tonight. Zoggy was magnificent as was Faye. Beye gave Petrov as good a game as any full back this season at a guess. Parky, you are a well respected chap on this here forum but how the f*ck you can can use such emotive words to describe to the performance of a player on the losing side (playing out of position granted) as 'magnificent'? No f*cking way can I accept that man. Also, it's a fallacy this notation of 'good/bad decisions will even themselves out over the season. B*llshit. It's exactly the same as going to the casino and putting your money on red or black......it 'should' even itself out but hey man...this is not always the case. It truly has to be over the long run and frankly 38 games is not enough time for decisions to even them selves out. 'At a guess' (quote) is neither use to man or beast chap. Not exactly nailing your opinion to the mast is it? Maybe done to provoke comment........you have succeeded chap. Even with the right players at his disposal, Allardyce continues and will continue to employ a brand of football that is archaic and quite removed from what is required in the EPL. We are s**** and we know we are.......
  10. Listening to Talksport this morning I noted that Southgate is not the only chap to air his views on the Shearer/Allardyce situation. I've not got any quotes or spotted any hard evidence but Alan Hansen has also urged Shearer to speak up and I think that, to a great extent, Hansen is actually suggesting that Shearer would be an ideal candidate. No thanks.
  11. We get your f*cking message man.......this is about your 5th post on this.......get back under the stairs if you want a Newcastle victory.
  12. This forum is full of 'I told you so' type of neanderthals. Like those that said that Allardyce was tactically naieve, totally inept and his team played a brand of football that was f*cking worse than pub team full of wannabes on a Sunday morning after a few bevs. This forum is full of those that claim that Newcastle have been pretty poor this season and as a minimum, have not been convincing and whether this was 6 or 11 games into the season, it was plain to see what the season had in store. Well, I was one of those f*ckers and so far feel vindicated by my own assessment. Point is though, it's not who is right or wrong, but point is accurately reporting what the facts are. We are f*cking crap under this mutha. I'm one of the neanderthals. Optimists keep live in your false world. I see the same sh*t occuring.....well if we finish above Sunderland then I'll be happy..... Big Sam is f*cking outta his depth. Fortunatley employed by the previous regime so I feel that not all is bad as it's the type of excuse needed for getting rid. Anyone who says he's not f*cking crap wants their head read. No....Let's give him time. Wonder if that old chestnut has been mentioned in earlier threads?
  13. How many goals have Reading conceded this season? We should have been battering them from the off......
  14. Lita should have put them ahead with a chance that was pretty much an open goal. Other than that, not much has happened. Thanks chap.
  15. Brief - I'm at work - what has opening 25 been like anyone? Seems quiet bases on lack of posts?
  16. Luton Town 1986 (September I think). A Wing paddock. 2-2 (or 1-1).
  17. Well responding to your question leaves me nicely open for a torrent of abuse but that appeals and is good for further debate so.........given that I think Allardyce is just not cutting the mustard......................and Wenger and Ferguson are not realistic targets.......2 year contract........Mark Hughes......
  18. Sounds like a spoilt bairn. NUFC's finest supporter? Don't make me laugh. what do you want me to say? it isnt good enough, ITS A FACT! what else can i say I suggest you read the post I made about four above your original. And I suggest you wake up and smelL the coffee and see what drivel has been served up thus far this season. You think this will improve vastly over the coming months? Not a great deal imo. With all players 100% fit and zero selection issues, Allardyce just has a knack for employing a dated, boring and f*cking on occasions, senseless and tactically w*nk brand of football. Ah right, I didn't realise Rome was built in a day. So not only do we have to win every game, we have to do it playing like the Brazil of the '70s. I see. And who the f*ck said that we have to win every game or do it playing like Brazil? Not me. We've got some good players but Allardyce doesn't know how to use them. Some would argue that it will take more than 7 PL games to work out who fits where but already we know where the likes of Smith does/does not fit. Allardyce doesn't.

  20. Hey relax Phil. It's not all bad. Wht's wrong with you? Your looking at the current sitaution with negative spectacles on. Why don't you try on them delluded spectacles that some contributors of this thread appear to wear time after time. If you want to report SA's tactics as being questionable or the teams or individual performances as being shite even before Mondays game then my advice to you would be to not waste your time on here. Dellusion wins in the end.
  21. This thread is subject to a HUGE twist I suspect after the visit of the Hammers amnd suspect if could turn nasty. I expect a big performance today. Allardyce has done little to convince me that good times lie ahead. It has been suggested that it takes 2 years to tun a team into one well oiled unit. I bet my last penny that Sam hasn't got 2 years to do it. Mort, I suspect, will give him a season and review. Basically, if her serves up any more of the shit we seen Monday then he'll do well to deliver and meet Mort's expectations. The test IS NOW........
  22. For what's it's worth (and that is not much) I am encourage by the comments made by Phil K, Skirge, Gray, Baggio, Ian W, Swiss Mag and Elan. Full respect. So far not one of them has his head stuck up his ar*e and, imo, has accurately assessed NUFC abysmal start to the season and where/why/how it's going/gone wrong. As far as I am concerned, all these chaps have done is kept it REAL. Reported what they have witnessed. Hat's off. I'd rather read a thread that tells it like it is right now. Not a ANOTHER f*cking poncey thread telling me what it COULD be like if we win our next game or it's early days and we need to give 'em more time. Success on the field breeds confidence and more success. Serving up sh*te breeds more helpings of sh*te and that's what we are used to seeing. I stand corrected if we demolish West Ham though I am far from convinced. I wonder how many players West Ham have brought in and shipped out this season and who are now playing like a well-oiled unit?
