From what i've seen of him (which isn't much tbf) i don't see what he could offer. I'd rather give Ferguson and Lua Lua the chance. Matt Phillips on the other hand....

If they've got a few players who could walk into Champions League sides they would hardly have been fighting for survival on the last day would they?

Enrique has rarely let a cross in and it's even rarer that a winger has beaten him. That means Colo can hold a good position and keep his eye out for his man and any other runners who might be heading for the near post. Colo knows he probably doesn't have to rush towards a winger who's just cruised past the LB or is being given so much room he can ping a cross in without much problem. The helps Colo out massively imo. Looking at the otherside, i think Simpson's unwillingness to get tight to a player gives the CB nearest him all sorts of problems. He's got the pace so i really don't understand his reluctance.

N'Zogbia Moses N'Zonzi Wickham Oxlade-Chamberlain Would be a good group. Be suprised if we signed any of that lot though.

Look at that video, everyone is getting involved. Someone karate kicks someone in the back, and other people are fighting. But look at the Number 10 on the running track (holding the ball), stands there and just kicks the ball, with a connection that would make Shola proud Good spot!

surely you know zippo about what hall does or does not know? Well I suppose so, I haven't been tapping his phone or anything if that's what you mean. Based on my observation of the club sale situation and common sense about the relationship between Ashley/Hall, I conclude it's likely that he knows nowt. Anyway, surely you know zippo about what I know about how much Hall knows about Ashley? So there. common sense would suggest to me that if a club is for sale one of the first people aware of it would be the last person who owned it? they're gonna be pretty high up on the list of people likely to invest, no? I'm not doubting you like but i would have thought the person who sold something wouldn't be the most likely person to buy it back again.

Is it me or does he far too often let the opposing winger get a cross in?
-
That's quite a jump! He didn't do anything last night that Guthrie didn't/couldn't do. He'd have to show a lot more imo. Watching Carrick (with the ball) do him for pace was slightly worrying.
-
One of things i noticed when Ireland came on was that he'd clearly been told to keep close to Carrick. That prevented ManU from playing out from the back somewhat so their centre halves started to go long which we dealt with pretty well except for one scare i can remember.

Riise is too good to sit on the bench imo. If we sell Enrique, Riise could replace him. And we could buy a young left back as backup. Riise would be an exemplary model for the younger ones in our group. For Riise to replace Enrique defensively we'd need the young 'back up' LB on the pitch the same time!

Et tu, Ian..... :-( Is no one safe?

When i read that by Lee Ryder all i think of is that the club of told him to push out some propaganda to prepare everyone for Jose being sold come the summer. Wankers.

He'll be judged on the players he brings in (rightly or wrongly). I say that because i think what a manager can do with the players he inherits is more telling. However, if he's allowed to seriously strengthen the team, 2 strikers, another wide man and a back up for Tiote and Enrique (should those 2 stay) he'll end up with a good reputation imo coz he seems fairly clued in with training and matchdays.
-
All this stuff about waiting to see if we're safe before signing a new contract is crap imo. The club could give him a good contract with a relegation release clause if that was the case.
-
One thing that keeps cropping up in my mind is that, one of the supposed main reason he was brought in was that he could be better trusted in the transfer market. Now, looking at how January panned out i'm beginning to wonder, he could be better trusted to do what?
-
Sell him and give most of it to WBA for Brunt or to Wolves for Jarvis. Hell even Etherington would be a step up. This If we actually have signed a pre-contract agreement with Sylvain Marveaux i doubt we'll be spending a penny on another LW.
-
We'll need Tiote to limit Hoilett's influence.
-
Wonder if the work permit might have been a problem for him. Looks real quality on Youtube.

Steven N'Zonzi (Blackburn) Matt Phillips (Blackpool)

Matt Phillips has looked really useful.
-
Maybe (big maybe) he could play in a midfield 3. Something like: Barton-------Tiote-------Ireland HBA---------Carroll-----Ranger/Best
-
Hope to f**k he's not over there at the moment!

I actually had a look through the Enrique thread but there is a section missing from 2007 (August i think) to 2010 (might have been March). Or i was in the wrong thread! Don't really see the value in embarrassing posters with past comments (unless they take it well). I guess the point is that some players need a bit of time to develop without pressure on them all the time. There's been times when i've wondered if letting Colo go would be best all round, same for Barton. Times when i thought Carroll might turn out to be nothing much at all. Oddly, i'm quite optimistic about Ranger but that's more heart than head talking. I wonder how many Spurs fans had any idea what kind of player Bale was going turn into. They never used to win with him in the side! He looked worse than ordinary and LB and without the class needed at LW. Seemed like he was dropped, got his head down, trained hard, improved, pushed his way back into the side and now look at him! What went in his favour was that they could play without him. They had cover, a squad.

It's because Williamson reads the game better. Espicially when the ball's in the air, either a cross or a diagonal. Williamson did very well in the 2nd half against the mackems when they tried popping the ball over the top. He just read it. Taylor's a better athlete and better with the ball.
