    Dean Ashton

Ashton since January 2006 Only 26 league appearances, 7 goals. Hmmm. Injury prone and hardly prolific.
  2. Larsson would be an absolutely brilliant short term signing for someone. I'd be happy if it were us.
  3. I'd love to see us win the cup - 50 years and counting. However, I also think we're as good as out already given our predictable draw (yet a-fucking-gain) and our dreadful record against them. My seat for tomorrow would have cost me 35 quid, so fuck it, I'm not going. Apparently, the club wanted to set the prices low, but they have to be agreed with the other club. Man United insisted on top whack, so 35 quid it is, and it almost certainly won't sell out. That's the romance of the cup fucked up the wrong 'un by tv and greed. Bollocks to them, cup or no cup, I'm not getting bumraped by those cunts.
  4. Read something recently about how Low did all the work and Klinsmann just put the media friendly face on it all.
  5. Huh? Typo, he's rejected a £8m bid from Spuds. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/7170640.stm 'The 23-year-old had also been linked with a move to Newcastle.' When? I expect you to step in, he'll sign, and then there'll be stories of 'the lad wanted desperately to join Spurs, but you offered twelve times the salary' or however it is it usually goes.
  6. Absolutely. Surely not even in the darkest scenario can anyone think relegation is a real possibility?
  7. Still very young. Has pace and power. Has a good work rate.Scored some goals in the premiership last season. Looked good for the under 21s in Holland and was better than Nugent. Whats not to like? He is clearly still a bit immature and will make mistakes sometimes but he has good attributes, and with a bit of discipline and working under O'Neill who knows what could happen. Would be well worth it as he won't cost the Earth either. I think your being harsh on the guy. He's not perfect but is well worth the risk I reckon. Give your British youth a chance. We need someone to score goals *now* though, we've got enough home grown promise, we need people to deliver now. He's also got a shite attitude, apparently.

    Martin O'Neill

Carew's last goal - Dec 22 v Man City Carew so far has 4 in 15 PL games this season. Not prolific, but how much do Martins, Viduka or Owen add to Newcastle's all-round game? And how much does Carew add to ours? N'Zog is a promising player, but better than Young? Well, that's up to him to show it, but thus far, we haven't seen it. Stick Young at right back and see how well he does. Fair comment, but let's see him do as well as Young in his correct position, then we can judge on whether or not he is better - surely until then it is just a theory?

  10. That right back you've been feeling up is going to Manure. Rumour is it isn't Bosingwa, but Nelson Marcos at Benfica. I don't play FM so have no idea if he is any good.
  11. Strong rumours about us signing Leroy Lita. I fucking hope not.
  12. We've signed our latest celebrity fan. http://news.bbc.co.uk/player/nol/newsid_7160000/newsid_7169200/7169260.stm?bw=bb&mp=rm&asb=1&news=1&bbcws=1 About 2 min 15 in. Heard him talk about us before. Warning: post not entirely serious.
  13. Honest question. Does anyone really, seriously think there is any chance Berbatov will sign for Newcastle? Given what he has said (his agent said, but there must be truth in it) about Spurs in the last couple of days? Incidentally, FWIW, I'd have thought a Charlie Big Bollocks, arsey, petulant teenager of an overpriced striker would be the last thing you need at the moment in any case. From what I've heard I don't think Berbatov will be going anywhere........... or many others for that matter. The cull will probably start in the summer when the fresh faces have been recruited. The Bolton GK, Diego, Lassana Diarra and Boro's Adam Johnson are all on the radar as are 2 central defenders Jaaskelainen will be a great signing for someone what with him being out of contract. Better shot stopper than Robinson but he has a tendency to give some daft goals away. I think he's pretty average tbh. He's good value for nothing, though.

You're very lucky in that SJP is in the city centre. One option for me would be to go for a pint and wait for the traffic to clear, but being in a ropey as fuck part of town, it isn't really that appealing. I don't agree with all that turning up late, then fucking off to the bar 15 mins before half time thing though.
  15. It happens everywhere these days.

I almost always leave our games 2-3 minutes early (unless there is some high excitement). Villa Park is in a dreadful location traffic wise, you can get deadlocked in traffic for literally hours. I think it is to do with the modern football fan, everywhere, though. When you charge people 35 sheets to watch a match, they can choose to leave when they want, i guess. All tied up in a deeper customer-not-supporters argument, i think.

  18. Bramblinho played a bit of a blinder.
  19. The problem with that is that with just Barry and NRC in the middle, we'd get overrun too easily. I guess you have to pick your games for that formation, though, as in the right situation it would be nice.
  20. No, you won't. Well, that's my opinion anyway, I thnk it is easy to overrate your squad when you're not assessing it objectively, but from what I've seen of you this season - which, admittedly isn't as much as you lot have - you've a lot of players who really aren't up to much. Even Given seems (by reading posts here) to have deteriorated, and he's been quality for donkeys. Dude ... still interested in Milner? Milner for Maloney swap deal? Not for Maloney, but we dsperately need a right sided midfielder. I reckon if you took a straw poll of our lot on "want Milner back for 5m?" a good 75 - 80 percent would say yes. Why doesn't Maloney play wide right for you guys? Because he is left sided. We tend to push Young to the right (he is as good either side) and Maloney left side, or - as against Chelsea - play Maloney alongside Carew and Agbonlahor wide (which freaked us out at first sight, but worked)

  23. I'm not surprised. Starting with one man up front at home to Wigan? What is Benitez on?
