  1. On that subject, did you see Agbonlahor's interview? I think he's possibly the most boring, monotone lad on the planet. You'd think someone had just died rather than him scoring the winner in a local derby. He starts every sentence with "definitely"
  2. That Joe Hart is an eloquent chap, isn't he? Refreshing to see.
  3. Isn't Dr Spec just saying that Portsmouth are on form at the moment, more so than city who were shite in their last away game?
  4. I really do hope his brothers are anywhere near as good. Here's hoping. Harry Forrester made his debut for our reserves the other day, apparently. Played well.
  5. Poor Darius. He's a good lad, as well. Always gets a fair amount of stick when he comes back to our place (mainly due to his habit of scoring), but he's always very respectful when he does so. Never celebrates. And he's another Aston boy as well. Some of our fans are f****** morons. doh!!! Can't say I'm suprised he missed that. He is a bit shit. I don't know what he's doing on the pitch tbh. Don't know what happened then, as not watching the match, but I will say that when in one on one situations with the goalkeeper, I'm struggling to think of a worse striker to wear the claret and blue.
  6. I haven't mentioned what a fucking great player Ashley Young is yet today. So here it is. He's a fucking great player. All over the shit in the first half, quiet in the second, the pops up with that fantastic ball in for the winner. And he also knows how to celebrate a winning goal against hated rivals. By eating a young lady's arm, of course. http://www.avfc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/bc/dc/0,,10265~3464380,00.jpg
  7. Spurs will finish top ten, no problem. Isn't football great? Who'd have made such a weird statement a week before the season started.

  9. I'd be seriously pissed off having to stay inside the stadium for an hour and a half, especially as i presume they aren't serving pints or exactly being party hosts. Mate texted me from the ground. When Gabby scored the winner, there was a hail of gob, coins and god knows what coming down from the six toed ones in the tier above.
  10. thought it would but especially after the goal in the last 5 minutes Tensions have been running very high for this one. Our chairman's right hand man using language which suggested he was referring to (the admittedly porcine) David Gold as "a pig" didn't help. Although it was very funny.
  11. Villa fans still locked in at St Andrews, 90 mins after the end, apparently. Kicking off outside, big style.
  12. Nice one mate. Did you go? No, not enough away match credits to get a ticket, and to be honest, not worth it for all the trouble there will be. Was thinking on full time how glad I was not to be in that away end waiting to come out and be greeted by the hordes of scum. Few mates of mine have gone in the home end, under cover. Look forward to hearing their reports later.
  13. Afternoon, all. And what a particularly beautiful afternoon it is, too.

    Joey Barton

Reminds me of that Not The Nine O Clock News sketch. "Savage, would I be correct in assuming that Mr Kodogo is a coloured gentleman?"
  15. I watched our match here in Solihull with me mate who is Blues fan. I must admit I felt a huge sense of relief when the final whistle went and I looked at him and thought he has another 24 hours to wait before he goes through all this. Awful matches they are Where in Solihull did you watch it? I'm so glad I don't live in Solihull any more. The place is absolutely crawling with 'noses. Did you ever stumble across Fat Barry Austin, the world's most famous blue nose? Just at home in Shirley I believe Garry Sprake used to live down my road - he may still do for all I know. I havent come across him, no. Is he from around here ? He's Britain's fattest man, and a bluenose season ticket holder. He used to live on the corner of Hay Lane, in Monkspath. I used to see him a lot (I used to live off Frankholmes Drive) - he's your archetypal nose. There was a program about him on a few years back, fuck me what a state to get in to. I know. Things have got pretty fucking desperate when your only outlet in life is sitting on your two season ticket seats at that pig hole every fortnight.
  16. Lives in Chelmsley now, used to live with his mom in Monkspath.

  19. Tough one tomorrow mate. blueyes.gif Any thoughts on a scoreline? 1-0 or 2-0 to them, I fear. They get more pumped up for these matches than we do. They always seem to want it more.
  20. I didn't see the match today, so can't comment on the performance, but I thought most people on here were saying that if they were offered a draw beforehand, they'd take it. Looked at that way, it is a point, and one of the more difficult points you're going to get this season.
  21. I for one am shitting myself this evening. Barely paid any notice of the other games today. I hate derbies.
  22. To be fair, you're making a valid point here, and one that a lot of Villa fans have made. The accepted truth is that in the summer, Lerner made a very large amount of money available (this leaked to one of our boards by the son of a member of the club board), but MON didn't want to spend it, saying that he's not going to spend irresponsibly - he's always had a hang up about big spending. His mantra is that he's building something through youth bolstered by decent spending that'll last for the long term. City's approach is a little different in that, whilst they've got promising young players too, they're spending huge amounts now. Will it work in the short term? Probably. Will it work long term? Possibly not. I'm still jealous, mind

    NEXUS

They're having the last laugh now, mind Derby week is horrible, isn't it? Don't you wish you could wake up and find it was next Monday and you had a point? I know I do. We've got board room level squabbles resurrected between us and our neighbours at the moment. Krulak comparing David Gold to "a pig", even in a very loose sense, whilst being accurate, isn't really sensible at this point in time. I really do think there'll be large scale violence at this match (again). Not nice. PS: re the bridge, ill informed outsider I may be, but why the fuck is red and white going anywhere near a bridge in Newcastle?
  24. People going down to get food and drink 10 mins before half time does my fucking nut in. Can't they last 90 minutes without consuming? These are the people who really need to give themselves a good talking to, more so than those who leave early when their side is 3 goals down.
  25. That's very unfair. He's had one season in the job, a season in which he was saddled with someone else's squad, and no chance to spend in the summer window due to the takeover not going through until September. This is the crux of the problem on this subject (SA) - people judge too early. It is pointless judging managers after a year or so, especially not when they take over fucked up clubs. You've got to give them time. How much you give SA is debatable, but I'd have thought two years is a decent time frame for a manager to start to show some real, sustainable progress. This is fair comment. In fact, thinking back to it brings me out in hives. But he's got January to sort the weaknesses. We've had a decent-ish start to the season after a pretty difficult opening set of fixtures (we've played all the top four bar Arsenal who we play in two weeks). If he can see to the deficiencies in the January window, then that's fine. Again, coming back to the premature judging - 11 games in is way, way too early to judge a season. Incidentally: These days half of Britain doesn't give a flying fuck about anyone who isn't in the "big four", they're not really arsed about who they see as bigger out of Newcastle and Spurs.
