Not bad. Not shown he is worth that kind of money, but neither did Young for a while, I guess.

We had a long winless run last season, but we were also the last undefeated team across all the divisions, and finished the season with a 9 match unbeaten run. A few factoids 1. We haven't lost an away match for almost 10 months. 2. Over the last 19 matches (half a season) we've taken more points than both Liverpool and Chelsea. 3. Cahill is only out on loan. He clearly sees Davies and Cahill as our long term CB partnership but doesn't think they are ready right now. That is what you call long term thinking. I think. 4. He does drop bollocks. Yes, he signed Harebrain (who scored tonight), but then again even Sven signed Bianchi who, at twice the amount, looks none too clever. 5. He is slightly fucking mad, and infuriating at times, but you've got to have patience, and the overall results easily make up for the madness. 6. Indeed, not a single right back at the club, and only one left back of any note (and even he was originally a centre half). We're still a very long way from the finished article, but the difference since August 06 is absolutely remarkable.

Get in there, Young Ashley. Just think what we could do if we had a right back!

How's he been for you lot this season? Out injured for a fair while. He's strange. He never looks like he will be a regular scorer, and in many ways when he is on the pitch we take the "hoof" option too often, but overall without him we look a much worse team. The control for his goal on Saturday was excellent.

Blackburn have been all over us. Villa one shot on goal, one goal.

  10. spudface His other moniker is "potato head"
  11. Dont know if it has been repeated, and this prob belongs in one of the 3000 other threads about him (mods, feel free to move) but SSN said they are carrying an interview with SA soon, and just showed the headline "Allardyce: I believe I have backing of the board" "Believe". Hmmm. That doesn;t sound too convincing.
  12. I can't believe anyone would think for a nanosecond that Owen would join Wigan. Spudface clearly took that ridiculously inflated sense of self worth (see Lippi approach) with him when he left the knuckledraggers.

^^^^ Yes, I saw that and thought what a fucking moronic question that was.
  14. He's the best appointment they could have made, given the failure of the Lippi approach ;D Interesting recreation of the Big Firm rivalry in Birmingham, what with him and the Blessed Martin.
  15. Surely the chairman shouldn't really be commenting so extensively on matters on the pitch? Isn't his job to say little and just give the manager his backing?
  16. Wor lass will be fuming if that happened, being a pompy fan. I'll be fuming if that happened, being a Newcastle fan, in all fairness. Was at the Spurs EGM this afternoon and someone close to Ashley's best mate thinks that Redknapp will be prised away from his South Coast home to make the move up to Tyneside. I'm not saying it will happen but there are a few who think it will. You were, or someone else? Not sure on Redknapp. His twitches unnerve me, for a start. Don't worry about them. Look at MON, he's like Woody Allen on a caffeine binge. You'll come to terms with them
  17. We got lucky. Lerner has bought a house near the training ground and is over here all the time. You got Marlon Harewood and they got Fernando Torres though. The money was there to spend as he wished. He chose not to spend it, for some reason. Harewood will be gone in January. He'll wash up somewhere like Sunderland or Wigan.
  18. I don't think they're bothered about anything other than not spaffing money in a futile attempt at staying up, and claiming that chunky parachute payment next season. Davies had a tendency to talk about how much they needed to spend a bit too often. Giles Barnes should be available, Ashley Young style, in the January window though.
  19. He is the saviour of the club apparently. Who, the 1940s haircutted Boys Own magazine right winger, or the Woody Allen of Derry?
  20. Rumours MON might try to get you to sell Milner in January. Any chance of this happening?
  21. We got lucky. Lerner has bought a house near the training ground and is over here all the time.
  22. Didn't he also say he was going to sue them? Gone somewhat quiet on that front.
  23. Surely not? http://www.lfconline.com/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=364504
