No wonder we always do shit

That's how you cross a ball (Young Ashley)
-
Well deserved. And as predicted by you at the start of the season...? I believe so!
-
Barry and Young on. Delighted for Ashley. Three Villa players on the pitch. Surprising factoid. Villa have supplied more England players than any other club.

Carson has been awesome for us. I hope we seal his signing very soon. 10m well spent. I'd prefer he didn't get his chance tonight, as it can only complicate our signing of him, but he's a very good goalkeeper indeed. Lampard has always been brilliant for Chelsea, but that midfield has got DOES NOT WORK stamped all over it. Tried and tested. I think £10m is a crazy price tbh. He's good but nothing special. I think Gordon will go on to be better but the £8/9m he cost was a bit over the top too. People said 9.65 for Young was crazy money, but he's worth every penny. 10m for a quality keeper is, sadly, not mad these days.

Nice goal by Gabby. I said at the start of the season that he was all pace and nothing else. I'd like to retract that, he has come on fantastically this season. Can we have Milner back for our right side, please?

Yes but, are you the only one? There must be a whole team of you policing this rabble.

Our American owner has shown more respect for the club, its history, its role in the community, and the game in general, in 12 months than our previous very English owner did in 30 years. Platini is a cock of the highest order. Still, one should probably expect such blatant anti-American crap from a Frenchman. I also love this suggestion that the new foreign owners are all bad for the game, which implies that the old generation were all warm hearted philanthropists, FFS. Ellis, Bates, Shepherd, Swales and co. All clearly not in it for themselves, and not interested in lining their own pockets.

to the mod, whoever you are!

Getting back to the original subject of this thread (mods, can we edit the title back to reflect what it was originally about, 'Cliche Afflicted Footballers' or something would be cool), we have a new verbal tic king. Step forward Special Agent Liam Ridgewell, with a storming double headed effort involving both "obviously" and "you know". http://msnsport.skysports.com/video/0,20285,12602_2884046,00.html

Remarkable. Let's drop the one player who has consistently performed or been man of the match over the last few games and reinstate the Lampard Gerrard partnership which the entire world has seen does not work. In fact, let's go one better and reinstate the entire midfield which has consistently not worked, and looked like shite through the last disastrous world cup. Let's also play a player who is spending most time out injured, playing in a Conference level league, or against fat actors.

I think they're scum, and you should drive them into the sea, the infidels. Oh. Are Villa really selling Cahill to Sheffield United? If we do, I'll be incredibly disappointed. How on earth Zat Knight is a better Cb to have around than Cahill, I do not know. In short, I fucking hope we're not, and suspect we are not. If we are, though, he should be going somewhere better than that. It seems every time you brag one of your defenders up MON sells them. First it was Ridgewell and now Cahill. Rumour has it that Ridgewell wanted to play the ball out of defence, whereas MON wanted him to stick it into Row Z, hence his departure. Anyway, on the evidence of Sunday, Agent Ridgewell is still doing sterling work for the claret and blue cause. -

Imagine taking the piss out of the PSV Eindhoven fans after you beat them at work on the Monday morning, though. Oh ...

Not seen any as yet. Villa fan stabbed last night, too. Situation not looking too promising, apparently. Apparently, after keeping our lot penned in a car park for over an hour to keep the two sets of fans apart, as all sorts of stuff - including concrete - was chucked at them, the police then escorted them about 100 yards then disappeared, leaving them to take their chances. My brother was shopping in the city centre in the afternoon and said it was mental, like a war zone from their ground, up through the irish quarter and up towards the bull ring. Unpleasant in the extreme.
-
Apologies for ranting about this, but this is what our horrible neighbours are like. Letter written by Villa fan to Birmingham City outlining what happened yesterday. Incredible that this kind of thing can go on in this day and age. Apparently, after the game they were lobbing lumps of concrete into the enclosure where they were holding our supporters. Kids, old people going down, the lot.

Yes. We have been ever since we've played at the SOL. It's quite an amazing site actually. 45 buses or something, in convoy going to war - We're awaited by hoards of mackems who come just to see us. It was better when we went over the Tyne Bridge. A few not very nice people stuck their fingers up at me Makes sense now. I was amazed at how many of your fans were in colours at their place. Something I wouldn't consider for a nanosecond at Bham City. Although our grounds are only 2.5 miles apart, so I don't know if bussing would totally eradicate the problem.
-
I read somewhere today that your away fans at the SOL are bussed in from SJP, then bussed out again after. Is this true? (I may have read it incorrectly). If so, then given the scenes of mayhem after our derby game yesterday, I think this is a clever move, and one we should look at.

1983? Wasn't that the saintly Kevin's former team's year?
-
I've watched a European Cup Final. Can you guess which year it was? EDIT sorry. Couldn't resist. High on the result of the day. I think I'll go to bed now.
-
I wish we'd stick him on the right and Maloney on the other side. Maloney is a player who deserves a better crack, he is quality.
-
I remember a period, maybe at the start of last season when he was at Villa, didnt he give away something like 4 penalties in 5 games. I just seemed to remember everyweek, he made some major mistake. I think he conceded one against us at SJP Am sure Brummie will remember Indeed. He wasn't so much an own goal specialist as a penalty-giver. To be fair, i thought he did ok at the start of MON's first season, and rumour has it that the reason he got dropped was that MON wanted him to get into the habit of putting the ball into the Holte Upper, whereas Ridgewell wanted to play it out of defence. Still, whatever the disagreement, nobody really deserves a fate quite that terrible.
