  1. Yep, that will definitely be an interesting factor.
  2. Yeah but I'm not really sure what comparing two different scenarios proves. I wasn't a fan of the appointment, but he's come in after we sold our best player days before the start of the season (the player the whole team was built around), inherited someone else's squad, and done an OK job. Whether Howe did better or worse doesn't really come into it. I'll give him a chance and see what he does, he's done and said all the right things so far, so I am not really sure what this conviction that he is a chancer comes from. There isn't anything thus far that suggests that.
  3. Fair play to them, always had a soft spot for Forest.
  4. Based on results purely since Gerrard arrived, we'd have finished 9th. Not great but better. Don't forget, he came in halfway through the season.
  5. No, I don't think we can to be honest. But we'll see.
  6. I think our problem is also scoring. Ings is decent, Watkins is incredibly hard working but also very wasteful. Cameron Archer will feature, I think, he looks the real deal. I'd still rather have a more reliable source of goals. Wesley still plays for us. That's a shocking thought. Fuck knows where he'll be on loan next season. The only Brazilian male with no innate football ability whatsoever.
  7. I dunno to be honest. I hope it's interesting. "May you live in interesting times", as they (can't remember who) say.
  8. And further to that ^^^ i fucking hope more clubs do it and have a pop at it, it's way more exciting that watching the entitled 5 plus Spurs running things all the time. (except Wolves, fuck those cunts)
  9. I wopuld disagree with the bit about commercial income - we were run by cretins until 3 years ago - we managed to have static commercial income whilst in a league which comes with a licence to print money, and that was the case right back to our first sugar daddy, Lerner. The current owners are super rich, benevolent and switched on - their plans for the replacement of the North Stand and the increase in capacity are really interesting, and commercially ambitious. However, we do seem immune to FFP rules, they seem to be capable of putting shit loads of money into the club without worrying too much, Although, Purslow was one of the main contributors to the FFP rules in the first place so maybe he's using his cunning. I dunno. Fuck it, though, if Man City can get away with ludicrous shit like the Etihad naming rights for £400m, then the rest of us ambitious clubs should be able to have a try too.
  10. He's very promising, him, Cameron Archer, Jacob Ramsey, Arron Ramsey, Tim Iroegbunam, those are the great hopes in the youth team. However, word is that Chuckwuemeka's agent is an absolute dick, has been demanding stuff like guaranteed playing time, huge money, and also trying to sell him to pretty much anyone big in Europe for a while. He looked quality in the recent U-23 tournament recently, but in a few PL appearances for us looked like a boy amongst men. Compared to Iroegbunam who looked comfortable. He's trouble, and the sooner he leaves, the better. It won't be to you, though (no offence). HIs agent thinks he's Barcelona material.
  11. He's coming to be back up to Digne, which Targett - and it was good that he was that honest about it - didn't want to do. Massive respect to Targett for that.

    England

Of course the finest moment of world cup goal keeping in that era must surely be 'Rats beats Bats!'.

I always remember the Belgian keeper of that era: Jean-Marie Pfafffffffffffffffffff.
  14. I just read this on a Villa forum which in think is correct and pretty much echoes my take on it. these excitable kids on twitter are getting on my tits. it’s like watching two bald men fighting over a comb.

I think he's great, he does what he does extremely well.

Southgate is basically an international Steve Bruce. Steve Bruce with O Levels.

    England

Southgate has done alright. England have never had problems putting together long unbeaten runs outside tournament finals, though, there's nothing new in that. The problems have always been when we come up against decent sides in the actual tournaments, we always fall slightly short. My problem with Southgate is that although if you look scientifically at the results, he is doing well, he manages to make it so fucking boring in doing so. Grealish is an example of his mindset. With us he had license to roam, to create, to run at people. With Man City he's a different player playing in a different way, where his main focus is not to lose the ball and his job is tightly defined. All this is fine and understandable, but it is telling that Southgate was never really convinced by 'our' incarnation of Grealish, but he loves the somewhat sterile, bland Man City version (and I know he played more his natural game when he came on yesterday, but even so).
  18. It's nonsense. It's like Man City selling the naming rights to their stadium and shirt sponsor for £70m a year Absolute joke.
  19. One of the reasons Barcelona wanted to get rid of Coutinho in a hurry was they were paying him a huge amount of money and they wanted to book the transfer fee before (I think) June, when their annual accounts closed. Given that they are crooked fuckers when it comes to money, the more they book the Coutinho sale for, the smaller the gap between incomings and outgoings, and the more compliant they are
  20. I am hoping they waste a chunk of money on Keinan Davis.
  21. The original buy option when he first came was meant to be 30m euros. Crooked fucks.
  22. He had a fucking nightmare refereeing our game against Liverpool a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, the fat cunt is retiring now. Well, he's going to be operating VAR.
  23. This fixture is rarely good, there is so much riding on it.
  24. I have had a soft spot for them for decades, since they came out of nowhere and started winning everything under Clough, would be great to have them back. Last time we played Forest at our place, it was a second tier match between two teams with three European Cups between them (never happened anywhere before) and finished 5-5 (which also doesn't happen very often).
  25. Anyone who regularly went to matches (especially away) back then will have been in situations where what happened at Hillsborough could have happened to them. I’ve had it twice, at forest and West Ham. it was depressing last night seeing cunts on twitter going on about ticketless fans “like at Hillsborough”. when the fuck will people learn?
