  1. I just read this on a Villa forum which in think is correct and pretty much echoes my take on it. these excitable kids on twitter are getting on my tits. it’s like watching two bald men fighting over a comb.

    England

I think he's great, he does what he does extremely well.

Southgate is basically an international Steve Bruce. Steve Bruce with O Levels.

Southgate has done alright. England have never had problems putting together long unbeaten runs outside tournament finals, though, there's nothing new in that. The problems have always been when we come up against decent sides in the actual tournaments, we always fall slightly short. My problem with Southgate is that although if you look scientifically at the results, he is doing well, he manages to make it so fucking boring in doing so. Grealish is an example of his mindset. With us he had license to roam, to create, to run at people. With Man City he's a different player playing in a different way, where his main focus is not to lose the ball and his job is tightly defined. All this is fine and understandable, but it is telling that Southgate was never really convinced by 'our' incarnation of Grealish, but he loves the somewhat sterile, bland Man City version (and I know he played more his natural game when he came on yesterday, but even so).
  5. It's nonsense. It's like Man City selling the naming rights to their stadium and shirt sponsor for £70m a year Absolute joke.
  6. One of the reasons Barcelona wanted to get rid of Coutinho in a hurry was they were paying him a huge amount of money and they wanted to book the transfer fee before (I think) June, when their annual accounts closed. Given that they are crooked fuckers when it comes to money, the more they book the Coutinho sale for, the smaller the gap between incomings and outgoings, and the more compliant they are
  7. I am hoping they waste a chunk of money on Keinan Davis.
  8. The original buy option when he first came was meant to be 30m euros. Crooked fucks.
  9. He had a fucking nightmare refereeing our game against Liverpool a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, the fat cunt is retiring now. Well, he's going to be operating VAR.
  10. This fixture is rarely good, there is so much riding on it.
  11. I have had a soft spot for them for decades, since they came out of nowhere and started winning everything under Clough, would be great to have them back. Last time we played Forest at our place, it was a second tier match between two teams with three European Cups between them (never happened anywhere before) and finished 5-5 (which also doesn't happen very often).
  12. Anyone who regularly went to matches (especially away) back then will have been in situations where what happened at Hillsborough could have happened to them. I’ve had it twice, at forest and West Ham. it was depressing last night seeing cunts on twitter going on about ticketless fans “like at Hillsborough”. when the fuck will people learn?
  13. My dad and his mates fucked off Blues and got season tickets at Solihull a few years ago. Happy for him and totally weird if we get Soihull in the football league.
  14. If i was a retired footballer, I'd make sure I got fucking HUGE once I could, as soon as possible.
  15. "So, Peter, just sit there and when we come over to you, sound like the biggest, most robotic officious cunt you possibly can"
  16. What's the fucking point in Peter Walton?
  17. SIx years ago today we lost Diego Swarfega. Rest in peace, hombre.
  18. Grealish? I've gone right off him after this.
  19. Bit harsh on Gerrard some of this stuff. His training methods are miles off the traditional British managers - for a start, we've got a huge coaching staff (you may recall Danny Murphy scoffing at the fact we have a dedicated set piece coach on MOTD) and use stats and analytics massively. He's miles away from MON with his bibs and cones or Bruce. Based on his time with us, the season since his joining date, we'd be 9th. I am still undecided on him, but if there's any doubt, it's not around him being the typical English manager of days gone by - he's no Souness.
  20. We will be doing a fair amount of selling this window. Luiz will go (which I am fine with, I really don’t get what people see in him). Traore, Trezeguet, Wesley (the only Brazilian male in the world with no innate football ability), Targett, El Ghazi, one of Watkins or Ings, Guilbert and I really wouldn’t be surprised to see Mings sold.
  21. Gerrard said before the end of the season that we were already well into discussions with clubs around targets and that he wanted them all in before pre season. Wasn’t expecting it this quickly.
  22. re spending - if the money is there, try to improve. What other teams do won’t come into it, it’ll be about backing the manager. Our owners have got plenty of money and are doing exactly what you want from owners, making the funds available to improve the squad whilst at the same time growing the youth policy (Jacob Ramsey a great example). For all the money spent buying players in, the investment in youth is also there (building an inner city academy literally next door to the ground, also buying promising youth talent from other clubs for example). We’ve just sold a youth product for £100m after all, shows how important that side of things is as part of the bigger picture. regarding buying players, my take on it is that spending a lot of money on players does not guarantee success, but not spending pretty much guarantees failure
  23. Not towards the end they didn't. always the same issue - the awful football.
