http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20130806/rangers-v-newcastle-key-moments_2281670_3339903 Even the official website said we were poor. Like I keep saying, Pardew will get the blame but Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Sissoko, etc can forget about going to the World Cup unless the improve their performances massively (I know it was a pre-season friendly game but that's not an excuse).
-
We can't see the game so it's difficult to judge but I wonder how International players like Ben Arfa, Cisse, Sissoko and Cabaye can't score in 45 minutes against Rangers. People will blame Pardew but surely these players should be able to come up with the goals against Rangers no matter where they are playing (Ben Arfa was supposedly playing behind Cisse in the number 10 role)?

It's strange to hear him do an interview where he doesn't sound like a lunatic. It's interesting to hear what is going on with our potential deals but I'm not sure we should be told about it.

Blackpool 0-1 Newcastle United (FT) post-match discussion from p12
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to RodneyCisse's topic in Football
I know it's pre-season but our team's lack of goal threat is a huge worry. Sissoko, Gouffran, Marveaux and Cabaye played today. Did any of them regularly look like scoring (I know Sissoko had one chalked off for offside)? -

At least it means Gouffran lasted more than 70 minutes. -
Maybe an Admin could chop all these Tattoo comments out of the Ranger thread and put them in a thread in the chat section?

Two equally qualified people, one with visible tattoos and one without any tattoos. The person without tattoos will find getting a job easier than the person with tattoos (unless it's working in a Tattoo parlour or joining the Yakuza in Japan). The person without tattoos will have more choice. That is a fact. There are around 2500 people where I work. I haven't seen a single office worker who has visible tattoos. The people I have seen with tattoos work in building maintenance or as cleaners.

If we manage to get Remy on loan first it would strengthen our hand in the negotiations for Gomis as we wouldn't be quite as desperate to sign another striker. £6.9m seems plenty for a player in the last year of their contract. What would Gomis cost if he had 5 years to run on his contract? £15m tops?

Just to reiterate what others have said: - http://www.nufc.com/

I think I got last seasons just less than a week before the season started. I don't know if our first game being away from home will mean they'll send them even later.
-
Not so good when their religion gets in the way of playing for us though.
-
€10m is steep for a player in the last year of their contract who has also said he wants to leave. I can accept us shopping in the bargain bin if we get a bargain. €10m for Gomis isn't a bargain.

He appears to be fine in the photos from day 5 (which is today isn't it?) of the tour of Portugal: - http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/News/Gallery/0,,10278~3324668,00.html

Richard Branson doesn't even know football terminology. When Virgin Money first sponsored NUFC we beat Man U 3 - 0. Branson kept referring to it as a "three - love" win. It was cringe-worthy. Richard Branson and sport don't mix. Virgin Group bought into F1 and had the Virgin Racing team. They were shite: - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Racing

This new appointment of Mick Harford reminded me of this article: - http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/if-only-mike-ashley-ran-newcastle-united-like-sports-direct/

The fact is we need strikers. At the moment we have Cisse (who is unlikely to play for us again), Gouffran, Shola (who rarely scores goals) and Campbell (who should go out on loan to see if he's good enough before we start relying on him). Apart from his stats I don't know how good Gomis is but he must be a big improvement on our current meagre striking options. We need competition up front. Cisse was poor for a large part of last season but he played just about every game as the only alternative was Shola.

€10.5m would be £9.03m going by today's exchange rate (€1 = £0.86) . Considering QPR bought him for £8m in January I very much doubt that QPR would be able to make a profit on selling him based on the accusation of rape hanging over him and his high wage. As long as he is innocent of the gang rape he has been accused of being involved in, getting him for less than £8m would be good.

I've never heard any anti-Semitic chants about Mike Ashley (or anyone else) at St James' before. Where did they get that from? Is it's something to do with him supposedly being a Spurs fan and their politically incorrect nickname? If so, I've never heard that sung either.

What would stop all the other players deciding they wanted a charity sponsor or non-sponsored shirt too? You can't have one rule for one and not the rest.
