  1. I really regret not cancelling my season ticket when I had the chance last January. The result of the "root and branch" review on what went wrong seems to have been to get rid of Perch, Harper, Simpson and Lambias and not be in Europe. According to JFK "the squad is big enough for a top 10 finish". It may be big enough (is it?) but it certainly isn't good enough. A huge number of people won't be fooled again. I expect a large number of season tickets to be cancelled this season. I go to be entertained. That didn't really happen last season and this season looks like more of the same. We haven't seen a home goal for over 4 games. Most fans seem to think we'll be fighting relegation again this season.
  2. Some people say he's "class" but he rarely shows it. He never seems to grab his opportunity. One or two good balls a game? I expect much more. He often gets closed down. He seems to think he'll get more time on the ball than he does.
  3. we hold the cards imho ,if its true that he refuses to pay seek legal advice and tell Arsenal our valuation take it or leave it ,Cabaye has been a disgrace in my view as all he has to do is clear it all up but says nowt and in my eyes he is the bad boy here. The problem is I can see Cabaye sulking all season if he doesn't get a move. I can't picture him busting a gut for us. It's a World Cup year so you'd think he'd be up for it but after his poor season last season I wouldn't bet on it. Will he play well for us to try to get a move in January if he doesn't move before this transfer window?
  4. I watched the players warm up before yesterday's game. Our pre-match warm up routines are exactly the same as last season. I only noticed Ben Arfa and Sammy Ameobi practising shooting. Both were very hit and miss. A lot of the time the ball went over the bar. Why weren't Marveaux, Cissé, Shola and Sissoko (never mind the subs) practising their shooting? I'd have the players practising shooting all week as 14 shots and 0 on target is a disgrace for the home team against West Ham.
  5. Pardew is great at talking up our opposition. He is shite at talking up our chances. Seriously, why does he bother? If a Premiership side can't go into a game against Morecambe with confidence (not arrogance) that they can win then who's fault is that? If Pardew has such little faith in the squad he must be praying for the sack (he won't resign). If he thinks the squad hasn't got any depth then come right out and say it. Say we desperately need to buy more players and if we don't we'll be fighting relegation. Either Ashley will sack him or at least Pardew will have spelt out to the fans and media that Ashley has fucked him over by not assembling a team which can compete. Pardew constantly saying we can't compete with Southampton, Norwich, etc in the transfer market is pissing everyone off. What does it say about our squad if we can't beat Morecambe? The players are a disgrace if they can't raise themselves to beat Morecambe. It shouldn't matter what formation we play, they should be able to beat Morecambe.
  6. The trouble is that Arsenal appear to be the only team in for Cabaye. PSG and Monaco haven't bid for him. Cabaye wants to leave so it doesn't exactly put NUFC in a position of power. NUFC's options appear to be to sell him to Arsenal for much less than we want or have him moping around until January (after his performances last season I can't see Cabaye playing good enough to encourage other teams to come in for him in the January transfer window).
  7. At least Vučkić seems to be able to shoot from range and hit the target which is more than can be said for the rest of our team.
  8. Whatever happened to players handing in transfer requests? That used to be the done thing. The other week Suarez was threatening to hand in a transfer request when he'd already made it very clear that he wants to leave Liverpool. How players can get paid a loyalty bonus just because they didn't officially request a transfer in writing, while doing everything else in their power to leave is beyond me. I can't blame Cabaye for wanting to leave. NUFC have shown no ambition. I can blame him for the way he has gone about it. If you want to leave put a transfer request in. I just hope we get a good price for him and the money is used to buy a couple of players who transform our side (like when we got Bellamy and Robert). A fool's hope.
  9. Shit in the first half, improved a bit in the second half but no cutting edge. Pardew makes himself sound like a maniac when he praises the performance. Every time West Ham had a set piece it cause havoc in our penalty area. Nothing has changed from last season. If only I'd cancelled my season ticket last January when I had the chance.
  10. Cabaye refusing to play because he wants to be transferred or NUFC not playing him as they want to protect their asset before they sell him. Either way Cabaye is unlikely to play for NUFC again. I just hope NUFC use at least some of the money from his sale to buy players with the attributes we need rather than buy players who are cheap.
  11. It's time people stopped thinking of players as 'heroes'. They are employees. 99.99% of them would leave for more money, a club playing in Europe, a club in a country/part of a country they'd like to live, etc. Nobody sang "Don't sell Cabaye" today at the match. With hindsight it's a shame we didn't sell him before the start of last season going by how he performed last season.
  12. We don't know Pardew dropped him. For all we know Cabaye refused to play. Pardew said his "head wasn't right" to play. He may just have been "protecting" Cabaye.
  13. There is no indication that he's actually refused to play. Why would we dock his wages? Did I imply that? He didn't play Monday and is unlikely to play today due to his own reasons. Anyway, bimpy474 has a fair point. Why do you want to dock his wages then? Maybe he is refusing to play and is on strike until he gets the move he wants? People can't defend him no more than people can accuse him. We don't know what's happened. Going by his performances last season I think it's safe to say he will be happy to leave.
  14. I'm sure he wants out. No doubt he'll play well for his new team if he gets sold (after being poor for us last season). If he doesn't get sold he better pull his finger out. He'll want to be in France's world cup squad. If he wants out he should be trying hard to impress potential suitors so they come and buy him in January if that's what he wants.
  15. "We're shit and we're sick of it" was the chant during Allardyce's time at NUFC but the 'experts' in the media say we wouldn't have been relegated if he hadn't been sacked. They wrongly seem to think we were relegated in the season Allardyce was sacked. I bet those same 'experts' also don't remember the 4 points we gave to Derby County. Whatever regrets NUFC have, sacking Allardyce shouldn't be one of them. Appointing him in the first place was the regret. The same media 'experts' said Sunderland were wrong to sack O'Neill. Anyone with a brain knew they were doomed until they replaced him.
  16. They have a manager and a board with ambition though, regardless of how they've played they want to improve. We have an owner who's perfect season is 17th place, zero transfer spending and £25mil re-paid to st james holdings limited. My point was about Hughton not NUFC. Norwich fans did not like Hughton very much last season or the football his team played. Norwich have now backed Hughton in the transfer window so we'll see how he does this season.
  17. With only a couple of games to go last season Norwich fans were convinced they were going to get relegated and they were saying their team played shit, boring football. They had long runs of terrible form. Hughton certainly wasn't very popular there at the time.
  18. I wonder if Cabaye not playing is his decision or the clubs decision? After Carroll left I gave up on the idea of any player having any loyalty. Just about every footballer is a mercenary. I accept that now. Hopefully PSG and Monaco will get involved so we can have a bidding war for Cabaye. If we do sell Cabaye I hope he's as mediocre for his new team as he was for us last season.
  19. He's only on a month's loan. If it goes well it will probably be extended. If it doesn't he'll probably go on loan somewhere else (St Mirren were mentioned as wanting him).
  20. How much would it cost to buy Rangers outright? I'd imagine that it would be a huge amount less than the supposed £250m sale price it would take for Ashley to break even on his purchase of NUFC. There's no rule against Ashley owning Rangers and NUFC is there? Giampaolo Pozzo and his family own Udinese, Granada and Watford so I'd guess not. I can see why Ashley would want to buy Rangers. A knock down price for a club who will more than likely be back in the SPL in two years. Once they are back in the SPL they will probably get back up to finishing 2nd at worst. He could buy a squad to finish in the top two of the SPL for a Hell of a lot less money than it costs to pay for a NUFC squad which is good enough to finish above the relegation places in the Premiership. Rangers might qualify for the Champions League too. Even now Rangers fill their ground so Ashley would have a similar 'captive' audience to that of NUFC. Ashley could probably buy Rangers out of his loose change. The SPL doesn't have the worldwide exposure of the Premiership. He'll probably buy Rangers and keep NUFC.
  21. On that note then, would you be happy with a team full of England internationals? Definitely not.
  22. Saying we've got players who are "Internationals" would carry more weight if we had International players from the German, Spanish and Brazilian national teams. We've got French internationals. France aren't a very good International side at the moment. They are about on par with England. I'd swap a few of our International players for players who can create and score goals.
  23. Belgium 0 - 0 France isn't likely to get anyone that excited. Hopefully none of our players picked up any injuries.
