  1. If Wonga are bad what does that make all the alcohol and gambling companies? Alcohol and gambling cause plenty of society's problems.
  2. More sympathetic maybe but with the same end result. He'd still be in a no win situation where he would end up leaving. He won't wear the sponsor (which is in all players contracts that they have to wear it) so he leaves. The 'Charity' or 'No Sponsor' idea is a total none starter for all the reasons given in The Mag article on the previous page.
  3. Would Cissé have complained if our new sponsor had been Newcastle Brown Ale and would some fans be so quick to back him as they are over Wonga? Just about every sponsor in the Premiership isn't allowed for Muslims (Banking, gambling, alcohol, etc). A Muslim guy rang into the Football talk on BBC Radio Newcastle today (sometime between 6pm and 7pm) and he said if Cissé was such a devote Muslim he wouldn't appear at Football grounds as alcohol is sold in them all.
  4. Cissé is as good as gone. The deal with Wonga was signed in October 2012 so he's know since then that they would be our sponsor. He should hand a transfer request in as there is no way he can get out of wearing the club sponsor on his shirt. If his reasoning for not wanting to wear the Wonga sponsored shirt are "religious grounds" then we know that he is a massive hypocrite. I wonder what a Muslim cleric's views would be on a Muslim going to casinos, smoking with a Hookah pipe, having 'relations' outside of marriage with a non-Muslim, wearing clothing sponsored by money lenders (Northern Rock, Virgin Money & Barclays), working in a place where alcohol is sold and advertised and where gambling is promoted (St James Park), etc. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/ridiculous-interest-rates-is-against-your-principles-then-how-can-anybody-play-in-the-barclays-premier-league/
  5. Romain's didn't get north of Hadrian's Wall so doubt it. weren't amalfitano and abied both heading out of the club? maybe I misread a headline but I thought they'd left already.....unless they still have time on their current deals Apparently they've both been told to find a new club. They both have years left on their NUFC contracts. Amalfitano's contract runs to June 2016 and so does Abeid's according to: - http://www.nufc.com/2013-14html/squad.html
  6. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11714/8825811/Transfer-News-Hull-City-have-signed-goalkeeper-Steve-Harper-on-one-year-deal
  7. Going by pictures uploaded to the internet there seem to be plenty of Mackems with "FTM" tattoos. There are also a quite few with commemorative tattoos of Sunderland's "famous" victories over Newcastle. Has anyone ever seen a photo of a Newcastle fan with a tattoo which mentions Sunderland?
  8. Steve Harper joins Hull City on a 1 year deal confirmed by the BBC.
  9. That's a really poor example to use. Sports Direct are hugely successful where as NUFC are not.
  10. I'm sure this story is bullshit as others have said, Cissé is due back from his holiday on Monday where he will do the checks the other players who are already back did last week. If the story was true and Cissé (or any other player for that matter) decided he wouldn't wear the club shirt due to a sponsor then I'm surprised so many people on here would back the player. Saying a player could wear the logo of a charity of their choice instead is a total none starter. For one thing that would be rewarding them for not wearing the club sponsor by letting them pick the charity of their choice. For another thing all the other players would want to do the same. As far as being a Muslim goes, is 'Wonga' worse than 'Barclays', 'Virgin Money', 'Carling', 'Newcastle Brown Ale', 'Bet Butler' or any of the other sponsors past and present of NUFC and the Premier League? All Muslim players playing football in the Premier League profit directly or indirectly from company products or services which aren't in line with Muslim beliefs. Also, I'm no expert on Muslim beliefs but I wonder where it stands on Muslims having 'relations' with Miss Newcastle outside of marriage. If we had a Christian player who said he wouldn't play on Sunday because it was 'the day of rest' would fans accept that? Would they fuck. If a player has beliefs which aren't compatible with the job then give up the massively paid job and go and do something their conscious can accept.
  11. Perch said he was told back in March that he wasn't going to be offered a new contract at NUFC. He said the news came as a "shock" to him. That being the case, it obviously had nothing to do with JFK. Perch was moving into the last year of his contract and the powers that be (whoever that may be) decided we don't need him.
  12. As things stand they must have a huge squad. I'm sure they plan to move quite a few players on but there's no guarantee they will be able to.
  13. Like I said, it's strange that this story hasn't been reported in any of the papers or websites. With all the rumours that get published you'd think a story reported on SSN would make it onto their website. Having said that, NUFC.com broke the story of Perch leaving. I don't think I'd seen a rumour about that apart from one line saying he could leave on ICNewcastle.
  14. Has this been reported anywhere other than on SSN? It isn't even mentioned on the Sky Sports website. Never saw enough of Gosling to make a judgement. He was injured most of the time and when he wasn't injured he wasn't getting into the first team. No loss if he leaves and doesn't need to be replaced.

    Loïc Remy

A lot of people seem to want us to get Rémy even though an allegation of rape has been made against him and yet the same people are rightly condemning Paul Gascoigne for "an alleged drunken attack on ex-wife Sheryl".

    Loïc Remy

If we get Rémy I really hope he's innocent of that rape accusation (note that I say "innocent" and not "is found not guilty").

You're right, let's spend £6m to £8m on a player who turned us down to go to QPR. He is also on bail after being accused of rape. If he was found guilty that £6m to £8m spent would suddenly be worth £0.00. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/hardly-a-surprise-that-newcastle-are-claimed-to-have-no-interest-in-signing-remy/

I think there's a little more to it than that in this case. Yes, it should be arrested on suspicion of being involved in the gang rape of a woman, court case in September.

    Loïc Remy

exactly the reason why QPR shouldn't loan... Makes no sense when they can get a transfer fee... My suggestion for QPR to loan Rémy out was based on the idea that they'd struggle to find a buyer for a player who has been accused of rape. If they can find a buyer then "buyer beware".

    Loïc Remy

It would be a big risk for any club to buy him when he has a rape accusation hanging over him. QPR should offer to loan him out with the option to buy if he is found not guilty. If he is found guilty that's QPR and Rémy's problem. Imagine if we bought Rémy and then he got sent to prison.
  21. Agree. NUFC matched his release clause so NUFC were allowed to talk to him. He either didn't want to talk to NUFC as he has already decided he wants to follow Martinez to Everton (who finished last season in 6th compared to our 16th) or he wanted more money than we wanted to pay him.
  22. Correct but you'd still have to tell NUFC that you wanted to cancel your season ticket. Just cancelling the direct debit would have NUFC chasing you for the money. People can cancel their season tickets now but they will lose the money they've already paid.
