  1. Yes the BT commentator did reveal his incompetence by saying that as that was Debuchy's 6th yellow card he would now be banned for the next game. Debuchy missed the Norwich game after his 5th yellow card.

  3. I think I heard the other day that we are the only team in the Premiership not to have been awarded a penalty this season. We've had quite a few that should have been given as penalties but our friends, the match officials, have decided otherwise.
  4. Of all the days for Ben Arfa to be sick and Cisse to pick up an injury. They've both been available for the last 4 games and barely played. Today's game they would have both come on in at some point if they'd been available. I thought Sissoko was probably our best player. Cabaye wasn't good and neither was Tiote. Gouffran didn't really worry them. I didn't think Remy had the best of games either. Apart from the Tottenham game Krul hasn't seemed that assured to me this season. Pretty much a poor game all round.
  5. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/nufc-training-ground-forward-thinking-or-smokescreen/ "He (Mike Ashley) doesn’t want us to finish in the top four because then he would have to spend some serious money. And I am not talking about a ‘multi-million’ spend on a training centre (Incidentally, I wonder if Pardew has designed it, like Wenger designed Arsenal’s?). It would be forty or fifty million, something like that." I would think Mike Ashley would be very happy if NUFC finished in a Champions League place. If we got through the qualifier it would mean a lot of guaranteed income. NUFC being in the Champions League would also make the club an attractive target for potential buyers. I'm sure all the clubs who aren't "big name clubs" don't spend huge amounts if they qualify for the Champions League. It's all "pie in the sky" talk anyway. The season isn't even half way through yet. I doubt we'll have to concern ourselves with what would happen if we qualify for the Champions League.
  6. Cabaye and Sissoko are both one booking away from a one match ban. Based on that I would assume that Anita will be getting a start very soon.
  7. Wasn't he terrible for QPR? I seem to remember people saying he was very slow.
  8. The problem is Ben Arfa and Cisse don't have the same attributes (winning headers and being able to hold the ball up) that Shola has so when Shola comes off our system has to change. Remy likes to play in the number 10 role so I'm sure he likes playing off Shola. Shola is our only striker who is good in the air and can hold the ball up. That's one of the main reasons why we need to replace him with Gomis or a similar type of striker.
  9. I wouldn't blame Pardew for our only beating Norwich 2 - 1. If our players had taken their chances we would have easily won by more goals. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/momentum-key-us-says-newcastle-6340991
  10. The win would have been a lot more comfortable if our players hadn't spurned so many chances in both halves. More shooting practice is required. I watch the players during the warm up and it's amazing how many shots they don't get on target.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25062250 Wasn't one of the 4 pictures an old picture of Anita? Isn't another one Haidara wearing what I assume is an afro wig? If that's the case, the BBC are describing Anita and Haidara as "stereotypes of black people". Now that's racist.
  12. To paraphrase 'The Wizard of Oz', "You've always had the power to go back to Kansas Argentina". He just needs to buy himself out of his contract. Either he puts his money where his mouth is or he shuts up about wanting to leave.

    Loïc Remy

http://www.nufc.com/2013-14html/2013-11-10spurs-a.html That was yesterday and we haven't heard anything about it yet.
  14. People are suggesting switching Santon from left back to right back. If we are going to switch a left back to right back why not just keep Santon at left back and play Haidara or Dummett at right back? That would mean only one change to the back 4. I don't think we should move Yanga-Mbiwa to right back to accommodate Coloccini either. We could also play Anita at right back. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/davide-santon-happy-play-right-back-6298808
  15. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/bafetimbi-gomis-agent-pushing-move/ I read that to mean Gomis' January transfer fee would be £2m rather than his annual salary would be £2m.
  16. I'd imagine Pardew will mention Shola is full of confidence after his performance for Nigeria. Ben Arfa to come on if we're not winning. NUFC.com said "Meanwhile the 4-4-2 line up apparently favoured within the dressing room was retained" in their report of the Tottenham game. http://www.nufc.com/2013-14html/2013-11-10spurs-a.html
  17. If we where to sign Long would we need Gomis? We would need someone capable of getting 20 goals but I don't think Gomis is that man. We need the option of at least one big striker who can hold the ball up. Apart from Shola we haven't got any other strikers who can do that. As I understand it, Gomis has those sort of attributes. Obviously there are no guarantees we will get Gomis. If we don't get Gomis we need a striker similar to him. In theory it shouldn't be too difficult to replace Shola with someone better.
  18. Getting Shane Long for a much reduced fee (due to his contract expiring in the Summer) would seem to fit the way NUFC go about transfers under this regime. Shola isn't getting a new contract so he will need replacing. It is far from guaranteed that Remy will be here next season. Shola and Remy out with Long and Gomis in for low fees would meet the current NUFC transfer 'model'.

  20. Worth quoting this for the people who say Santon should be a right-back and not a left-back. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/davide-santon-happy-play-right-back-6298808

    Loïc Remy

If Rémy doesn't end up joining us I doubt it will be due to wages. If a Champions League club comes in for him and we match the wages they offer it would still be highly likely he'd go to the Champions League club. Last January Rémy couldn't be arsed to make a scheduled visit to Newcastle and then signed for QPR. What do people think he'll do if a bigger club than us are in for him? As long as Rémy doesn't go to prison he will be playing for us until the end of this season. Enjoy it while it lasts. Rémy has said he won't be making a decision on his future until after the World Cup. I doubt there's anything NUFC could offer him now that would make him commit to us now so there's not much point worrying about it.
