http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/newcastle-united-fans-wanting-cancel-4751388 You can tell it's the Summer when stories like this get published. This isn't news as the terms and conditions are quite clear when you sign up. I'm 'trapped' with my season ticket (unless I want to lose the money I've already paid for it) for the 2013/2014 season. If this season is shit people on the 9 year deal have until the end of January 2014 to request their ticket is cancelled for the 2014/2015 season. It looks like 10 year deal people have until the end of February 2014.

http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/the-four-words-newcastle-united-fans-dread-hearing/ Shola must not be offered a new contract. I don't care how good Shola is 'behind the scenes' or how good a professional he is, it's on the pitch that counts and his impact there is negligible. Carlton Cole would probably be more useful than Shola and I don't rate Carlton Cole.

I don't know if it is but it should be a part of the contract that players try their best to learn the language. They get a lot of free time. Carlos Tévez arrived at West Ham in August 2006 and if I'm not mistaken he was famous for not learning English in all his time here in England. We don't want a situation like that with our players.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-uniteds-french-contingent-told-2010421 I totally agree with that policy. At the end of the season I was disappointed to read a quote from Debuchy saying he wasn't going to be learning English during the Summer. If you're getting paid Premier League footballer wages learning English isn't too much to ask. Intensive English classes 3 times a week isn't very much.

France aren't very good though. It's the one thing I think of when people say NUFC should be good because we have a team full of French Internationals. France are about on par with England who also aren't very good. Having said that, if we sell Cabaye I hope it's for as much money as possible so if it was for £25m then fine.

I'd imagine signing Remy is unlikely while he has a rape charge hanging over him.
-
Don't worry I won't be getting excited about Bent or Tomkins! I was referring to the possibility of signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Tomkins and Bent wouldn't be exciting signings at all.
-
I wouldn't get excited about any signing until it is done. The non-signing of Remy should be fresh in people's minds.

Any transfer that has already occurred at any club won't be official until July 1st. That's the day the transfer window opens.

Pardew and Carr report to JFK. JFK then reports back to Mike Ashley with what Pardew and Carr have said. Can you imagine that conversation? We know from the two interviews JFK has give over the last two days that he can't say a single sentence without cramming it full of lies and hyperbole. It will be like the worst game of 'Chinese Whispers' ever. http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/7262/whoaf.gif

I seriously don't know how people can find this funny.
-
It's like when a dictator appoints his insane, sadistic son as the head of the Army. I can't believe this is really happening. I've not watched JFK's Sky Sports interview or listened to this Talksport interview. I can't bring myself to listen to him. I've already paid for my season ticket. I've paid over £600 to watch the club be destroyed. I don't find this funny at all. The media should do it's job and pull up every line of bullshit JFK says. Instead they'll just sit laughing while this moron gives them load of stories.

Premiership clubs make most of their money from the TV deals. I imagine the match day crowd contribute less than 20% of NUFC's annual income (has anyone got the actual figures to hand?). I imagine it would still be financially viable for a club to be in the Premiership even if nobody turned up to watch the games at the ground and it relied purely on TV money. As for blaming the fans, a lot of us are tied in to the 10, 9 or 8 year deal. My window to cancel my season ticket closed at the end of January. The January signings convinced me to keep the ticket. I doubt I would have renewed if I was making my decision at the end of the season. I've already paid for part of this coming seasons ticket. As no refunds are given for cancelling a ticket I'm not throwing that money away by cancelling now (it could be argued that I'm throwing good money after bad by paying for the rest of this coming seasons ticket). I'll be cancelling this season if it's another shit season of awful performances.

So this is the surprise signing they make which comes totally out of the blue! I was hoping for a player. I wish I'd cancelled my season ticket.

I suppose it would be too much effort for them to have done their own research into what Wonga do? I wonder if we had a Christian player who suddenly decided Sunday was the day of rest and said he wouldn't play on a Sunday would people accept that? The same goes for a Jewish player who decided playing on a Saturday wasn't allowed. I have no time for any religion. They may as well be saying "The magic elf at the bottom of my garden says I can't do X or Y". It reminds me of a mate at school who got told by a lass that she couldn't go out with him any more because "Jesus told her to split up with him".

My point is that I like replacements in place before we sell players. I'm not saying we need to replace Williamson as a priority before we get a new striker. Most of the NUFC related rumours are about players out not players in. We've been burned before getting rid of players and then assuming we'll get a replacement in.
-
Agree. The whole team were poor last season. Anita didn't really stand out as anything special in his limited appearances. I'm not writing him off but I'm also not sure how good he is.
-
He has played way more games than expected due to injuries to Taylor and Colo which is why I want a 4th choice centre back. He can quite quickly become 2nd choice when our injuries kick in. Yes I agree there is plenty of time (Williamson hasn't even been sold yet). There are also rumours that Perch may be sold so there is some possible CB cover potentially going too.
-
You obviously have more confidence than I do that we will definitely replace Williamson before the season starts (or worst case scenario before the transfer window closes). What happens if we don't get Douglas? I'll be happy if Williamson leaves and we get a decent replacement in, I just don't like the time between a player leaving and the replacement being secured.
-
The season hasn't started yet. All we need is an injury in pre-season to one of our centre backs and we are down to 2 centre backs if Williamson is sold.
-
I'd rather we brought Mike Williamson's replacement in before we sold him. He's adequate as 4th choice centre back. If it's Douglas in and Williamson out then that's fine. More likely it will be Williamson out and then weeks of waiting for his replacement as the new season draws ever nearer.
-
Send him out on loan for a season (with the option to recall him). If it goes well sell him. If it goes really well keep him. If it doesn't go well his contract expires in June 2014.
