  2. And Liverpool if you believe the dubious source of "caughtoffside". http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/9533928.stm http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news//2011/07/09/mevl-t-erdin-in-snub-for-newcastle-61634-29021687/2/
  3. Lovenkrands did a good job for us in the Championship so I'd be surprised if no Championship clubs were interested in him. He's in the last year of his contract so I doubt he'd cost too much. If we buy another striker he may want to leave as he won't be getting much game time at NUFC.

As soon as I read you telling me to "Shush" I was on skim read mode so I could rush to get my reply in! The stats about Xisco in my reply still stands though for anyone who genuinely thinks we should give him another go. Haha you utter mong. 6. He's an England international available on a loan where we will only pay half his wages. Like I said earlier I would imagine Taylor would be considered our future left back in a year's time when we won't renew Bridge's contract. It seems entirely plausible to me. Whether Bridge is still a premier league quality left back is the issue for me. The age or wages doesn't really come into it since it's going to be a short term deal. Another story put out about NUFC's transfer policy was "NUFC will not be going down the loan route" so there's another reason why it's unlikely we'd go for Bridge.

Fair enough. You should have used a or something.

Shush, he hasn't had a chance, all the managers who he has played under just don't like Spanish people and he has a clause in his contract which means we have to pay millions out if he plays him again. That's why he was only given his 9th game when we desperately needed a goal against Villa. It's a fact that Chris Hughton, Alan Shearer, Alan Pardew don't like Spanish people? You know for a fact about clauses in Xisco's contract do you? And you tell me to shush? Xisco has been available to loan or buy more or less for every season since his first season with NUFC. Why doesn't a Spanish side want him then? Racing Santander loaned him for a season but didn't try to buy him. Newly relegated Deportivo supposedly want him (although they didn't think he was good enough to start much when they loaned him for the top flight). Xisco is 2nd division class in Spain but people think we should play him in the Premiership? Xisco's record is mainly in the lower leagues. Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 2004–2006 Deportivo B 53 (39) 2004–2008 Deportivo La Coruña 44 (12) 2006–2007 → Vecindario (loan) 27 (13) 2008– Newcastle United 9 (1) 2009–2010 → Racing Santander (loan) 23 (3) 2011 → Deportivo La Coruña (loan) 9 (2) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Jim%C3%A9nez_Tejada If it was a Championship striker NUFC had bought with a similar record to Xisco's nobody on here would be wanting to give him yet another chance.
  9. I can't believe anyone took the Bridge link seriously. He does not fit Mike Ashley's transfer policy. He's 30 years old and on big wages. Liverpool and Arsenal both supposedly going for Enrique this week.

Give him another chance because he might actually be good? Try telling that to all the managers we've had since he arrived who haven't rated him. Deportivo just got relegated and he wasn't even first choice with them. Teams in Spain aren't even interested in him (unless it's for free) although the huge wages he's on won't help.
  11. Giving Barton a fine would depend on what he said. I took "all hell would break loose on his Twitter" to mean Barton would be saying things that would get him into trouble. It's surprising he hasn't been fined for some of the things he's already said on Twitter. Fact is, Ashley owns the club. If he doesn't want Barton to play Barton won't play. Would Barton want a year out of the game? No chance so he'd move if that was the choice. I don't see how Barton can think he can threaten to leave on a Bosman free and expect Ashley to do nothing about it if an offer comes in for Barton. Personally I'd like Barton to stay unless we can get someone better or he becomes a disruptive influence. My point is that Barton can't mess with his employer and expect to win.
  12. Barton won't go down without a fight though. If the above happens, all hell would break loose on his Twitter. That would probably please Ashley as the club could fine Barton for every outburst so NUFC wouldn't even have to pay him.
  13. If an acceptable offer came in for Barton and Barton refused to leave I'm sure Ashley could force the issue by telling Barton he won't get a game for the last year of his contract. Barton saying he'll leave on a Bosman versus Mike Ashley telling Barton he won't play a game for a season. Who'd cave in first? Barton I'd imagine.
  14. £9m to £12m for N'Zogbia when he is in the last year of his contract is not a bargain unless you'd rate him as a £20m+ player if he had 2 or more years left on his contract.
  15. http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/8680/3/newcastle-alert-romaric-set-sevilla-exit Seems too old to be a NUFC target.
  16. So according to rumours, Ameobi has been told to find a new club and Best is for sale. If they both left it would mean we have Ba and Lovenkrands as our only senior strikers. Even if NUFC plan to play 1 striker next season we'd need to buy at least 2 new strikers.

  18. Mike Ashley could easily trump Barton's thinly veiled "#bosmanruling" threat with "#ayearinthereservesnotplayingfirstteamfootball" counter threat. After all, we were told Ashley "likes to park his tanks on the lawns of his rivals".
  19. I'd like N'Zogbia back but £10m for a player in the last year of their contract won't look like good business to Ashley. Sylvain Marveaux for free probably covered the area in the squad N'Zogbia could have filled.
