Well apparently our scouts have been in Germany, Belgium, France and a few other places but it seems France is where it's at for NUFC at the moment.

Creativity - The element we've been missing for years
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to BONTEMPI's topic in Football
But you always need a balance of both. One without the other wont do. This I agree but our current team is grit heavy and flair lacking. As soon as Ben Arfa was injured Jonas was our only real outlet and I wouldn't class him as a flair player. -

We seem to be replacing grit with flair. I know which of those two I prefer to watch. -
We're lagging behind. News of Sylvain Marveaux's signing is already up to 12 pages on: - http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=601760&page=12

We all wish Everton had beaten Newcastle in the 'race' for Smith's signature.

That Everton fan is behind the times if he thinks NUFC are still dishing out mega salaries to players.

Radio Newcastle said on the 7.30am news that Neil Taylor and Ba could be signed by the end of today.

I can't understand why Nolan would be happy to go down to the Championship. You'd have thought other Premiership clubs would be interested in him now it's obvious he is available. I guess West Ham are the only club willing to offer Nolan a long enough contract on wages acceptable to him? As for NUFC selling him, he has 2 years still to run on his contract. I can only assume Nolan wanted a new contract which is why NUFC were even negotiating with him. NUFC's contract negotiation policy seems to be "Here is our offer, if you turn it down we will sell you". I don't have a problem with that or the incentive based contracts supposedly being offered. I'd have liked Nolan to stay another season but I would not give a 29 year old player a 4 year contract.

Dzeko cost Man City £27m. He had a good record in Germany. He hasn't had a fantastic start to his career in the Premiership. He may adapt, he may not. West Brom bought Odemwingie for £1m from Moscow Lokomotiv. He scored 15 Premiership goals last season. DJ Campbell scored 13 Premiership goals for Blackpool. The cost of the player doesn't always correlate with their performance. Any player we buy from a foreign league is a bit of a gamble. They may adapt or they may not. Last seasons top goal scorers in the Premiership: - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/top_scorers/default.stm

That's a win win situation then isn't it? A lot of people hate Ashley and want him to leave. That will never happen unless someone else actually wants to buy NUFC. The more attractive NUFC is to buy the more likely Mike Ashley will be able to sell it.

I'm sure N'Zogbia will be aware via his agent as to which clubs have an interest in him. As we all know, these days the power is with the player. If say Sunderland put in a £10m bid for him and Newcastle put a £9m bid for him Wigan couldn't force him to go to Sunderland. It's entirely up to him. When N'Zogbia wants to move he can put an official transfer request in and unless Wigan want to hang on to an unhappy player they'll pretty much have to let him go.

Report: Alan Smith to leave NUFC in January?
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Thespence's topic in Football
"It's like a new signing" - It can be classed as squad strengthening if Smith leaves. He was a better influence off the pitch than he was on it for NUFC. -
I could understand Rooney getting his hair done before everyone could tell he was losing it. Getting it done after it has been thinning for years seems a bit pointless.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

We don't really want our targets to have an eye catching game. -
He's not the best striker. He's the 3rd best. http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/2011/06/05/peter-lovenkrands-warns-new-forwards-will-have-to-prove-themselves-79310-28820943/

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

The "BBC Sport has learnt that Newcastle have yet to enter negotiations with the holding midfielder" story is probably just a member of the southern media desperately clutching at straws, hoping the deal doesn't happen. They are probably upset that NUFC might have signed a good player and they don't like that. By media law, all good players must be signed by Man U, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Tottenham. If negotiations hadn't started why would Cabaye's current manager name Newcastle as the club Cabaye is going to? -
It just goes to show that he's happy barely getting any game time as long as he is surrounded by quality players and can piggyback on their successes. Let's face it, it was a year contract extension or retirement. He'll not bother himself to play for a lesser team.

But the team who finished 3rd rarely ever get promoted?!?!

Don't the Welsh FA have the power to overrule Red cards given to players of Welsh teams which play in English leagues? That shouldn't be allowed.
