I'm expecting the transfer window to close with the club unsold, no new owner, no manager and a good few more players sold. Mike Ashley will then issue a statement to the Newcastle fans - "You see? That's what you get for protesting against me! I've parked my tanks on your lawn! I don't care about the money, I've destroyed your club to show you who's boss!" if he did that, he should fear for his life With what he is currently doing I think he already should.

All our replacements for first team players will come from the pool of players in the Reserve and youth teams.

WBA v Newcastle United - Pre match thread. 5:30 KO, Live on BBC1/BBC HD

I wonder why he thinks playing Kevin Nolan off Ameobi or Carroll will work? -
.......and installed Alan Smith as captain. I'm one of Smith's harshest critics, mainly because he is either a striker who hasn't scored for years or he's a midfielder who fouls opposition players in and around our box. He may be a 'proper' professional but he doesn't inspire any confidence in me.

Sebastien Bassong signs for Tottenham Hotspur, fee undisclosed
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
Not particularly happy with £8m for Bassong. Thought we could get more. At least we won't have to care about when the 'African Cup of Nations' is on now with Bassong gone and Beye on his way (although that's probably the least of our worries). -
Managerial choices if/when Ashley decides to stay
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Dave's topic in Football
Whoever it is (if the club even bother to appoint a manager) will be totally hamstrung from day one with that crazy bastard Mike Ashley as the owner. The only positive of relegation was the idea that the club would try to sort itself out from top to bottom. Instead things have got a whole lot worse. Just when we think things can't get any worse they do. Shearer said each day that goes by another room burns. Unless NUFC is the biggest hotel in the world I don't think there are many rooms left unburned. -
Even if you're not a fan of Martins you'd have to say he was the best of a bad bunch. Viduka, Owen and Martins gone. Carroll, Ameobi, Xisco, Smith (no longer a striker) and Ranger remain. Nolan has been played up front in preference to some of our current strikers. Looking at our current strikers all I can say is that I hope Ranger turns out to be the new Ronaldo.

To think the NUFC manager job used to be described as the poison chalice. It definitely is now. Who would even take the job? No money for new players, current players wanting to leave and an owner who is willing to sell any player if a suitable offer is received. Kinnear is about the level of manager who'd take the job. -
I want it to be true but I won't believe it until it is a done deal.

And look who we have left: - Ameobi, Carroll and Smith (who doesn't even class himself as a striker any more). No pressure Ranger. We've been playing Nolan up front in some of the friendlies! The future's shite. I can't believe 25000 people have bought season tickets.

I got ridiculed a few months ago for saying Martins would get bought by a decent team. If this transfer comes off, I'd say moving to the champions of the Bundesliga (with Champions League football) is a step up from going to a mid-table Premier League, Serie A or La Liga team. It's a bit like Matt Derbyshire going to Olympiacos F.C only to a much better league.

The whole thing doesn't make any sense. From Ashley buying the club in the first place all the way through to his running it into the ground now. I wonder how the media would be reacting if the people who bought Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool had done the same sort of thing to them that Ashley has done to us. It's funny how Mike Ashley is a 'fit and proper person' by the Premier League ownership rules but we'd have been better off if a Taiwanese dictator had bought us! Huh? We are one of the most talked about teams pre-season, i don't get your point at all. My point was, had the owners of Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool done to them what Mike Ashley has done to NUFC the media would have made a big noise about it demanding that it be sorted out as 'these fine institutions were being destroyed'. When it comes to Newcastle they tend to sit back and watch.

I doubt it. His best ever return was in the 2001 - 2002 and 2002 - 2003 seasons where he scored 19 league goals in both seasons. He was at his peak then playing for Liverpool. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/top_scorers/default.stm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Owen

I've been away on holiday for a week. On my return I see nothing has changed. I fear NUFC are now doomed to follow in the footsteps of Leeds. I can't see anyone wanting to buy the club now. Mike Ashley has murdered NUFC. The only comfort I take is at least the club has hurt him financially.

Sorry to those who are sick of reading about him. I suggest you avoid this thread. Owen's become very chatty since leaving. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_5440384,00.html So he did have a helicopter and flew home during the week. I remember reading that he had a property near Bolam Lake and his kids were settled in local schools. Whatever happened to that?
-
Is that where he said something like "its a pleasure playing with players who know what they are doing"? I thought that was a cuntish thing to say. Do you work for The Sun? He said about liking playing with players who are on the same wavelength as him. So fuck if it is a veiled criticism, they were fucking shite last season It's funny how everyone else in the team was on the wrong wavelength and he was on the right wavelength. Yes our players were crap last year and that includes Owen. He just thinks he's above criticism.
-
I don't see why people are calling for this thread to be locked. The reason I posted in it was because Owen made a veiled attack on his former NUFC team mates. I don't see why that should have passed without comment.
-
Totally agree. That was my problem with him not the fact that he scored. "It's a nice feeling (to score) and it's nice to play a game in the red shirt." I'd love to know what he meant by this.
-
No surprise. NUFC actually means something to some of the local players. The rest are just hired guns brought in to do a job. Apart from a few, don't expect any loyalty or morals when things go wrong.
-
To be fair, it was an Aston Villa player who caused the injury.
-
Its accurate but unnecessary. It's stating the obvious that Man U have a much better quality of player than NUFC. What I hate about Owen is that he seems to imply that his poor time at NUFC was entirely down to the failings of his team mates. He never takes responsibility for his own failings. He was our club captain! What a total arsehole he is. I'm sure he'll do well for Man U. Evil always seems to do well.
