  1. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/8157129.stm Good to see Owen blaming others for his being shite at NUFC again.
  2. I bet he looked happier after scoring that winning goal in a friendly for Man U than he ever did scoring a competitive goal for us.
  3. Well I can't exactly say I'd miss too many of the current foreign mercenaries players NUFC have attracted with the wages offered. If the likes of our home grown under performers fancied a move to Spain I wouldn't be too bothered either. Will this not result in more home grown players? I can understand the Premiership being full of foreign players but it surprises me how if you go down the leagues most teams still have quite a few foreign players.
  4. The club must be a hard sell. Recently relegated from the Premier League 'sleeping giant' football club. Fans in despair, boycotting club merchandise and season tickets. Players on Premier League wages, good players wanting to leave and bad players wanting to sit on contracts. Thin squad, no manager and no plan. All for only £100m (with possibly a £100m loan to pay off and a £40m overdraft).
  5. Do you believe Lambarse that there have been two 100m bids? No. Ashley would have to sell the club for less than his ridiculous £100m (+ £100m loan?) asking price if the fans made it clear that they wouldn't be supporting the club (which to a certain extent they probably already have by not renewing their season tickets).
  6. It will never happen but it's a shame the fans can't set a deadline for the sale. Get the club sold by this weekend or nobody is going to buy tickets to watch NUFC this season. Surely that would put a fire under Ashley. Nobody would buy a club with no fans.
  7. But he still made a profit in these difficult times. A hell of a lot of companies are making a loss so any profit is pretty good.
  8. God knows what the hell is really going on but surely one of the reasons Mike Ashley wants to sell is that he doesn't want to have to keep paying the current players wages. If he doesn't sell soon he'll be stuck with those players and a club he doesn't want until at least the January transfer window. If he lets the club go to ruin as he is currently doing his asset will be worth less and less. Is this a case of 'I'd rather destroy my own asset than sell it to you for what you're offering'?
  9. I'm surprised the club officially denied this. Going by their track record you'd think they'd have said nothing so they could torture the fan base with the prospect of a JFK return.
  10. Can't remember the name of it but that comedy youtube clip someone once posted on here with the Southern guy pretending to do a football hooligans show had it right: - "Sunderland famous for Newcastle".
  11. It makes no sense. Mike Ashley wants to sell but the closer we get to the start of the season and the end of the transfer window the club's worth decreases. Who'd buy the club near the end of the transfer window? They'd have next to no time to make any changes. Once the window closes there is no incentive to buy it. He'll never find anyone willing to pay £100m and service a £100m loan on top. Buyers could buy a Premiership club for a hell of a lot less. The fact that the club will have hardly any paying fans by the start of the season surely reduces the value of the club too.
  12. Put him in a dunking chair. If he drowns he was telling the truth. If he survives he's a witch and should be burned at the stake!
  13. Michael Owen says he "belongs at a top club". http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8148771.stm Why's that Michael? So you have 10 other players do all the work for you so you don't have to put the effort in?
  14. Can't imagine Man U fans will be very happy to hear Owen got the number 7 shirt. That and Taggart saying there will be no more signings pretty much confirms they will be a much weaker team than they were last season. It will also act as a nice 'pick me up' for their top 4 rivals. No pressure Michael!
  15. Surely the closer we get to the new season starting and the transfer window closing the club is worth less and less? We're pretty likely to stay in the Championship (if we're lucky) for more than one season if we don't get sold soon. Have they or have they not had offers which met the asking price?
  16. A lot of our squad seem to have handbags for 'men'. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/2009/07/01/gallery-toon-players-back-for-training-72703-24043168/ http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/nechronical/jul2009/0/5/image-17-for-gallery-gallery-toon-players-back-for-training-756119012.jpg http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/nechronical/jul2009/8/3/image-4-for-gallery-gallery-toon-players-back-for-training-994298940.jpg http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/nechronical/jul2009/5/2/image-16-for-gallery-gallery-toon-players-back-for-training-459108814.jpg
  17. Which one's worse? Barton or Bowyer? There's only one way to find out. FIGHT! I'm sure he does want to stay (on his current contract). Will the manager when we get one want to keep him though? Surely the players who want to stay but the manager doesn't want would move for less money if it was made clear to them that they weren't wanted and would be in the reserves for a year? If it's true that he'll be getting the same pay only paid by 2 clubs, then surely for him you'd have thought he'd go to Birminghm rather than stay here? My main point was that if any player leaves I hope NUFC doesn't pay a penny of their wages at their new club.
  18. It has to be said that no one would buy a Championship club for £100m unless they were going to go all out to get it back into the Premiership. With that in mind I would guess whoever buys us is going to have a serious crack at doing that. As for Malaysians, Americans, South Africans, etc. my preference is whoever is willing to spend the most and is not called Freddy Shepherd.
  19. I'm sure he does want to stay (on his current contract). Will the manager when we get one want to keep him though? Surely the players who want to stay but the manager doesn't want would move for less money if it was made clear to them that they weren't wanted and would be in the reserves for a year?
  20. I hope we don't end up paying any of the wages for players who leave. Look what that did to Leeds.
  21. True but then he's rarely fit so he'll probably be a terrible signing for whoever gets him (unless they only pay him when he plays).
  22. My big problem with him is that he seems to take no responsibility for our relegation whatsoever. He acts like he was just a bystander and not our club captain. Everything he says is always about him. To be fair though, he did the dirty on his 'beloved' Liverpool to go to Real Madrid so we can't expect him to give us a second thought.
  23. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/87708/Crock-jibes-made-me-feel-a-crook/ Don't worry about it Michael, you've certainly had the last laugh over Newcastle.
  24. It reads like an internet rant from a mackem. How the fuck does stuff like that get put on 'The Times' website (and maybe also in the paper)? Newspaper sales are in free fall? Let the bastards go under.
  25. How will Owen react if he does get back in the England squad and then Taggart tells him to pull a sickie every time a friendly is coming up so he doesn't play?
