We've fallen a long way and we might not have stopped falling yet. This loan signing is the first sign of the club attempting to stop or slow that fall. Hopefully we'll get a our maximum allocation of loan players in. If nothing else it will give the squad a tiny bit of depth/cover.
-
I take it back, it seems Alex Ferguson is happy to trust his player to JFK or whoever else will be in charge at NUFC.
-
People thinking we'll get a load of loan players in are in for a shock. Why would a decent club send their players to us? If we had someone like Shearer in charge I could see other managers thinking a loan to NUFC may do their player some good. At the moment we've only got a few coaches on the club staff. With no manager or a has been manager in charge and a depressed/volatile fan base I'm sure another club would deem it a bit of a chaotic bear pit to throw their player in to for 'experience'.
-
If Ashley is really looking to not sign anyone then obviously he isn't going to turn down this offer so its pointless to hope that'll happen. I mean its a much more likely scenario for us to sell Duff and bring in a loan player to cover. Is there not a limit on the amount of loan players that can be signed though? Three isn't it?
-
The problem is nobody has put an offer in for Geremi or Butt. We knew relegation would mean losing our better players and being stuck with the shit ones.
-
What has Mike Ashley done to us? Previously I'd have been overjoyed for NUFC to sell the likes of Duff and Smith. Now I'm worried about where it will leave us if they leave.
-
£4m for a player we paid £5m for a few years ago isn't bad. The problem is he probably won't be replaced. I'm not a fan of Duff's but he may be quite good in the Championship. I can't see how we are going to get promotion if we keep selling players and don't replace them. Assuming Ashley is stuck with the club, does he seriously think we can gain promotion with a mega thin squad made up of kids and reserve team players? Even if the club did try to replace Duff, Ashley is of the 'take the money now, sell the player then 'worry' about trying to replace him' mindset.
-
I really don't understand why fans of other clubs, who's teams aren't even in the same league as our club, post about their clubs on this forum. It makes even less sense when they argue with each other about their respective clubs.
-
When I typed my post I'd originally put "He may as well 'take it off the market' now and put into action Operation Miracle". He doesn't need to officially take it off the market anyway. All clubs are on the market. As long as enough money is offered anyone would sell.
-
I have. me too as we will never be sold. Agree. No one is going to buy the club off Mike Ashley. He may as well take it off the market now and put into action Operation Miracle*. *With two weeks of the transfer window to go: - Get a manager Sell players on big wages Replace them with cheaper players Win promotion to Premier League

SSN: David O'Leary 'no longer in contention' for NUFC job
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Dave's topic in Football
Surely O'Leary would realise that he'd be an unpopular appointment to say the least? You have to wonder who'd take the job when they know the fans will hate them from day one for being a Mike Ashley 'joke' appointment. -
From Tim Krul's point of view, he's more likely to get games at Newcastle than he would at any Premiership club.
-
If thats even true. It's impossible to tell what's true or not at NUFC these days.
-
Argentinian international (although he isn't in the latest squad) or not it shows you how good other clubs think he is if the only club interested in him is Olympiakos.
-
What an empty threat. Match my £100m valuation or I won't sell the club to you (but you'll probably be able to buy it in 4 to 10 months for £50m or less).

I noticed that Carroll, Ameobi and Ranger were all preferred to Xisco on Saturday. -

Nice to read how hated we are. I hope Randy Lerner goes insane and does a 'Mike Ashley' on Aston Villa. -
SSN: David O'Leary 'no longer in contention' for NUFC job
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Dave's topic in Football
For those of you who think O'Leary would be an ok choice, what calibre of player do you think he'd be able to attract to the club (if he got any spending money)? Look at the calibre of player JFK brought in (Nolan & R.Taylor) while the likes of Given and N'Zogbia went out. -
SSN: David O'Leary 'no longer in contention' for NUFC job
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Dave's topic in Football
I agree. Does Mike Ashley seriously think NUFC will be top of the Championship and on its way back into the Premiership with O'Leary in charge? He can't sell the club for £100m (plus whatever add ons there are) now and yet he thinks with no investment and a manager who hasn't had a job for years it will be worth that in the future? Ashley is either the stupidest man ever to become a self made billionaire or he really is destroying NUFC on purpose. -
If Ashley doesn't sell the club before the end of this transfer window he's obviously expecting, against all the odds, for Newcastle to be at the top of the league by January. There is no other way he could expect to still get £100m for the club. If Newcastle aren't in the running for promotion in January who would buy the club for his price?

As awful as I thought he was yesterday, he was the one who passed to Nolan who passed to Duff for our goal.
-
I thought we played exactly the same as we did last season. That's probably not surprising considering it is more or less the same players. All the same weaknesses were there. Jonas still has no end product, Colo makes you shit yourself every time he has the ball, Shola is always offside or needlessly fouling defenders, we rarely shoot, no one can do a decent cross, etc. Anyone who thinks this squad is good enough for this league is forgetting one thing - Mike Ashley still has three weeks to sell more of the players. I'm sure a few more will be gone by September. Having said all that I was reasonably pleased with a draw, especially after going one goal behind. I'm a big critic of Smith but to give him his dues he did well as a holding midfielder.
