  1. I started reading that letter then assumed it must be a parody.
  2. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/revealed-newcastle-united-receive-next-14719710 Probably waiting for the big lump sum in mid July.

  5. Will these Spanish clubs be able to afford the circa £10m release clause? They're not Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atlético Madrid. We've not sold Sels or Mbemba yet due to the interested clubs not being able to match the very modest transfer fees. £10m is peanuts to Premiership clubs. Not to a lot of foreign clubs.
  6. Doesn't seem to be listed for July (although I only searched for "Sunderland"). https://www.list.co.uk/article/101576-new-on-netflix-uk-july-2018/
  7. Not in NUFC's interest to put in a release clause (especially one which is only a small profit on the fee paid). The Mike Ashley model is to buy young players who will hopefully appreciate in value then sell them for a big profit. Release clauses will be at the insistence of the players and their advisors.
  8. Sounds like Merino (well his advisor/agent) insisted on the low release clause as a condition of him signing. If he'd done really well the most NUFC would get for him would be the release clause amount which is a relatively small profit on the fee paid for him. NUFC must have hoped he'd fall in love with the club.

  10. No mention of a release clause here: - https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/could-mikel-merino-leave-newcastle-14823939
  11. Pickford never looks confident. He nearly handled the ball outside the area when the ball spooned up off his foot.
  12. Joselu did not start a game from January onwards.

    Matz Sels

Sels is younger than Darlow so Darlow can't really have been bought as 'one for the future'. Sels is on 'daft' money in so far as he was the highest paid player in Belgium last season due to his NUFC salary. His wages are one of the reasons NUFC are struggling to get a decent transfer fee for him.
  14. I see they are heading to Portugal as part of their pre-season preparation. Is that not a bit lavish for a League 1 club?
  15. As much as 'Don' may talk tough, players and their agents have all the power in football these days. If Sunderland won't accept the fees offered they'll be stuck with unhappy players which will be great for the already poisonous atmosphere of the club. Players they look to sign won't like the idea of going to a club which tries to hold them hostage (even though players do that to clubs). I'm sure they'll not be impressed with him blabbing in public about players and their contracts. He knows what he's said about players will result in fans abusing and threatening players via social media (or in person if they see them). So 75% of their squad want to leave. Have they sold anyone yet? Have they bought anyone yet? Great preparation for the new season in 6 weeks. Especially when their rivals have more or less settled squads.

    Matz Sels

How is Sels on more money than Darlow? Sels was signed when NUFC were in the Championship. Darlow was signed when we were in the Premiership.

    Matz Sels

Apparently NUFC wanted £3m for Sels. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-dealt-transfer-blow-14812653

    Matz Sels

He cost £6.5m from KAA Gent but the most Anderlecht would offer was €2m. Do all teams outside the big players in the European leagues (and the Premiership and the Championship) always shop in the bargain bucket? We hear about transfer fees for players coming into the Premiership from abroad but outside of those transfers are all the other clubs paying each other peanuts for players?
  19. The cover of the latest 'Rolling Stone' magazine makes Mbemba's photo look pretty normal. http://thatgrapejuice.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/cardi-b-offset-rolling-stone-600x728.jpg
  20. Doubt it. Mitro will fetch us between £18m-£25m, about £8m for Mbemba and what's looking like around £12m for Merino going off reports despite that we should ask for more or just flat out not sell. We'll get next to nowt for the other players we need rid of. Though getting rid of the likes of Colback et al will free up decent wages. You've listed the fees in GBP when it's EUROs we've seen quoted for most of those players. €8m for Mbemba and €12m for Merino. £15m+ for Mitro.
  21. NUFC wouldn't be able to buy an equivalent player for 12 million Euros. Tell Real Sociedad to piss off and come back with a serious bid. That's what all the clubs do to NUFC when NUFC low ball them.
  22. I really can't understand how Sels is on wages so high it's more than any Belgium league player gets. He was signed when we were in the Championship. Did NUFC really have to offer him such high wages to come here? Did he automatically go on to Premiership wages when we won promotion? The football world has gone mad when top European leagues can't match Championship wages.
  23. SAFC shares aren't publicly traded. Who decides how much each share is worth? A league 1 team valued at £152m? If you sold every asset it wouldn't be worth anywhere near that figure.
  24. I took that article to mean we won't buy anyone until we sell. It's not saying the club have no money. The article is stating the way Mike Ashley runs the club. Rafa will see out the last year of his contract. Next Summer will be when the shit really hits the fan (if we haven't already been relegated). Mike Ashley isn't willing to pay the going rate for players. To add insult to injury, he isn't willing to invest in the facilities or youth coaching setup either so NUFC struggle to attract prospects and it's more difficult to develop our own players.
