  2. Even if McClaren is fired and replaced with a decent manager, avoiding relegation won't be easy. If they appointed Benitez I wouldn't assume everything will suddenly be fine. It would massively improve our chances though.
  3. McClaren getting binned? all eyes on the circus so they sneak bad news out. The bad news they have is to do with the club's knowledge of Adam Johnson's crimes. I doubt that would be brushed under the carpet by the media, regardless of NUFC firing their manager.
  4. Why would today be a good day?
  5. If they sack McClaren I'm fully expecting an underwhelming replacement. It's what they do.
  6. Most managers hang on to their jobs with a death grip like they're riding a mechanical bull. Everyone wants them to quit. Sometimes people start to feel sorry for the manager due to the amount of vitriol aimed at them. They don't look well but they hang on until they get fired so they can get their pay off. The joke is, most of them are multi millionaires anyway.
  7. So if they don't sack McClaren does that mean they'd keep him for the Championship? It's utterly ridiculous. As for anyone feeling sorry for McClaren, he's welcome to leave at any time. How did football get itself into a situation where managers who fail get huge compensation payments? Fair enough when Chelsea or Real Madrid sack the manager for finishing second but that's the exception. As for no manager fancying the job, money talks. I don't see how the club can offer anything other than a deal until the end of the season unless they sell it as a project to overhaul the whole club regardless of the division we are in.
  8. It's stick with what you've got or swap for the mystery box. We'll all take the mystery box in this scenario. I'm terrified as to who they'll get but we may actually get a new manager bounce for once. Whoever it is should only get a contract until the end of the season. No point giving a longer contract. It gives those who aren't interested in managing a Championship team a get out if the rescue mission fails. If all goes well and we don't get relegated, negotiate a longer contract then (but make the contract a lot less than 8 years). I fear it will be a dull, boring manager.

  10. What does he want instead of money? He's going to the Championship and he's taking us with him.
  11. It would be typical if they did replace McClaren with Moyes. British manager every time. Good luck to him if he does get the job but he's another dull, boring, uninspiring choice. Beggars and choosers I suppose.
  12. I wonder if Sunderland fans are worried that McClaren will get sacked and replaced with a decent manager?
  13. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/35472532 Yes because staying up is more important than hating the football you watch every game.
  14. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/35472532 Why's it a big call? We're as good as relegated so whoever comes in won't get the blame if we are relegated.
  15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/35472532 See that Steve? "Dreadful" not "Tremendous".
  16. There's no heroes in our team any more. When we get relegated I'll not be bothered about any of them leaving (neither will they by the looks of it).
  17. The fact is NUFC don't even need to appoint a full time replacement. Just offer Benítez (or whoever) the job until the end of the season with a nice big bonus if they keep NUFC in the Premiership. NUFC have little to lose and everything to gain by doing this now. If they save us and then fancy the job full time then discuss a longer contract then.
  18. She probably won't be entitled to anything but child support. That is based on income and would be a maximum of £15,000 per year, but would probably be next to nothing as he no longer has an income. Apparently, she's from a pretty wealthy background anyway. Whatever reason she had for standing by him, it probably wasn't money. Considering he's the father of a child with her he'll possibly willingly give her plenty of money. He'll have multiple millions. He supposedly earned just under £3m alone since being charged a year ago. He'll have to make what he's got now last the rest of his life but considering a Premiership footballer makes more in a year than most of us will in our whole life I'm sure he'll manage.
  19. 25% off being fully "consistent".
  20. There are a lot of typing errors in that transcript. Were the Telegraph so desperate to quickly upload it that they didn't have time to proof read it?
  21. I'm all for getting rid of McClaren but Moyes as his replacement doesn't inspire me.
  22. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-desperate-state-would-pointless-10987126 Rob Lee thinks it would be pointless to sack McClaren as whoever replaced him couldn't change much. What a joke. Changing managers saved Sunderland and Aston Villa last season. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/siem-de-jongs-return-highlight-10986114 By the way, we lost a behind closed doors friendly against Hartlepool 3-1. De Jong and Anita played. None of our teams can beat any other team regardless of division.
  23. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35719938 Sunderland's 'punishment' for playing Johnson was avoiding relegation last season, winning the derbies and help in avoiding relegation this season.
  24. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jonjo-shelvey-calls-big-balls-10983737 So the game plan was to sit back and then attack them near the end of the game? I though Alan Pardew no longer managed NUFC.
