The fact that we just managed to win that game doesn't fill me with great optimism. West Brom had 0 shots on target and 7 off target. We had 7 on target and 19 shots overall. We make it so difficult for ourselves with our atrocious finishing. That game should have been won and safe in the first half. I'm no fan of McClaren but you can't blame him for our player's finishing.

It would have been cheaper and more effective in the short term if NUFC had just bought Peter Crouch instead. There's being low on confidence and then there's the misses he keeps doing. By the laws of average you'd think he'd have put at least one of his misses away. Some have been harder to miss than score. We don't create many chances but he has spurned quite a number of them. Maybe he'll come good in the Championship as that's where we're heading and I can't see any other club wanting to buy a hold up man.

I'd consider dropping Wijnaldum away from home. He's invisible (prove me wrong and score a goal or two please).

No point worrying about how far the gap is to 16th place. Getting in to 17th place (or better) is all that matters.

I'll wait to see him play before deciding whether to write him off or not.
