All the other teams had their managers and their Korean players at the presser. Sunderland had Catts

  3. Think getting Cisse so cheaply spoiled us a bit. Top strikers with no outstanding flaws would usually cost something like 20m+
  4. Given Chelsea's summer spending, I'm pretty sure we're in no danger of making another run for the top 4 regardless

Going to the Sunderland match tomorrow. 5 people wearing black and white shirts, hope some of their players notice
  6. Don't see how Hoillet fits into any system of football to be honest, he's pretty much the consummate individualist I'm not saying I'd want him here, because I don't, but he's just a better fit for a 4-3-3 type system. I have my doubts. Our 4-3-3 is predicated almost entirely on intelligent interplay between the front three making up for their relative isolation on the pitch. Hoilett strikes me as being neither savvy nor unselfish enough to make that work. Think we'd see a lot of him giving the ball away or running himself into the corner flag.
  7. I think the fact that he's signing for QPR in itself tells us alot about why NUFC aren't interested. Don't see how Hoillet fits into any system of football to be honest, he's pretty much the consummate individualist
  8. Debuchy, Douglas, Carroll, and Anita would be a fantastic window.
  9. Funnily enough, buying Carroll right now actually fits perfectly into our transfer policy. This is a player who's valuation is probably at its lowest ebb. Never mind improving, even if he can only get back to being as good as he was when he was playing for us, he'll never be sold for anything less than 10m for the rest of his career. And what better place to get things back on track than his hometown club? In this respect, signing Carroll now really isn't that different from signing someone like Ben Arfa or Santon when we did. Although he doesn't necessarily fit into the current team, between European games and Cup games, he'll get plenty of time on the pitch this season. And who knows what happens moving forward. In a year or two, we may have sold off Cisse or Ba for another ridiculous fee. Alternatively, we might just sell Carroll for 35m again. Assuming that he's willing to take a wage cut and accept that he'll have to fight his way into the starting XI, I don't see why not.

    Rangers Newco

I don't personally, no. But they are associated with those respective countries and feature those countries' players primarily. The term "English" Premier League is necessary given the multitude of Premier Leagues in other countries. (ie Scotland) Same would go for the Bundesliga to avoid confusion with the Austrian one. I can just see the intro on Malaysian TV. "Don't miss Liverpool v Manchester United, live from the Premier Le- sorry, English Premier League just in case you get mixed up". Well yeah, it's actually always referred to specifically as the "English Premier League" here

    Things are happening
  13. Have to say I'm really discouraged by all of Chelsea's strengthening. We're basically never, ever going to finish above them again.
  14. If he's willing to come back on his old wages and accept that he'll be third-choice striker, sure.
  15. For some reason, I can see Park Ji Sung getting it...(purely for commercial reasons). Wouldn't be a bad choice tbh, if you want players looking to their captain in terms of effort etc... Hughes has told the Korean press that Park is "in the reckoning" for the captaincy. If so, it's probably a commercial choice. Would be interesting to see how he gets along with Barton regardless.
  16. Is there a Korean player that wouldn't be a fantastic signing for anyone in your opinion though? Every single one except about ten? He's one of the good ones though. Will be our best player within three years time. He is one of maybe three Koreans I would be happy to see at Newcastle United, so obviously it's a huge coup for Cardiff City.
  17. Korean international winger Kim Bo-Kyung (almost) off to Cardiff City. Will be a fantastic signing for them.
  18. Don't know if he's signed a new contract since the new money came in, but if he has he's probably on absurd wages as well.
  19. Thought he would retire? Lots of money changed his mind I suppose. And it's a good thing it did. We'd have glory hunters crawling out of the woodwork for all eternity if he retired there and got a testimonial or something. As for his ability, while he's definitely overpriced, I wouldn't discount his capability to lift a relatively inferior team. That's essentially what he's been doing for nearly a decade at international level.
  20. Come to think of it, MUFC selling Park and replacing him with a Japanese player is probably one if the only things they could have ever done to lose all their support out here. Fergie has answered my prayers
  21. Korea team is pretty motivated for this. Winning a medal gets them exempt from military service.
  22. Wow, did not expect Park to QPR at all. On the one hand I'm glad because I've always wanted him to grow a pair of balls and move to a team where he can be a key player. On the other hand I can't help but feel that it's a bit too late now. 5m and 60k/w is a lot for a thirty-year old who's been a bit player for almost his entire career.
  23. this is brilliant This absolutely must be sung.
