Korean team's arrived in Newcastle. They're unfortunately not wearing blazers but still, be nice to them if you see them

"momentum" in a transfer window is really important because it's the only thing that stops us from going insane
-
To be frank, we over-preformed and our rivals under-preformed last year. Tottenham and Chelsea all underwent irregular mid-season crises. We won't be able to count on that happening again. Over our two meetings last season I honestly think Spurs showed that they have a far stronger squad than we do, and although they're 'probably' losing Modric I still think there's a long way to go before we can think of them as direct rivals. Chelsea didn't, but they've spent massively this year and any sane person would expect them to finish significantly above us on the table. Plus, we'll have the distraction of a European campaign to contend with this time. I'm not saying we should just accept mediocrity, but I just think we should temper expectations a bit and not panic at the end of the season just because we're 8th or something. Progress shouldn't always be measured solely on results, and we may actually have put ourselves in a stronger position despite not finishing as high on the table.

Well, Senegal seem pretty shit.
-
It's not as if we're actually in competition with Man U or Chelsea anyway. Probably a bit much to expect that we'll be able to match up with Spurs this year too.
-
Fair play I suppose. Also, it's comforting to know that they don't actually live here.

That whole part of that stand was actually filled by Unification Church members. Never stopped dancing and chanting for the whole 90 minutes, creepy as f***. (Sunderland's opponent's were Seongnam Ilhwa FC, who are owned by the Unification Church, aka the Moonies) seongnam have just signed Brendan Hamill, seen by many to be as good if not better than Curtis good. Did he play? Nah, their new Brazilian did but he didn't.
-
Nah, I got a lot of withering stares, one "what the hell!" and one "you've got to be kidding me." Otherwise we were fine. Good on you. What did you make of the match itself? Sunderland utterly terrible against a lower-mid table K-League team. Fair enough, they were jet-lagged and unfit, but it was still pretty embarrassing. Wasn't even that they were not bothered (except for Bramble, who clearly wasn't) because they were running their asses off and committing some pretty dirty fouls. Just all-around mediocre and unimpressive, which is what you'd expect from a Sunderland team without Sessegnon.

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/6236/img0992r.jpg The total number of Mackems in Korea is much higher than I thought
-
Perhaps he could be forced into handing in a transfer request again
-
Shame you're playing a Korean team then you stupid cunt.
-
Moonies FC playing them off the pitch
-
Sounds like the 5 of you in black and white are in a bit of a pickle? How many of them are there? Several dozen
-
Okay, I did not count on there being actual mackem expats in Korea coming to the match
-
Also, he moved away from his hometown and had massive homesickness issues, was burdened with the expectations of a 35m transfer fee, and started playing in front of the least patient and supportive crowd in all of England. I think it's pretty obvious that his "true ability" so to speak is closer to his Newcastle form than his Liverpool form.

IMO while it's true that Carroll's stats aren't very impressive, we all saw that this kid has talent. We all watched every game of that amazing spell of his and it was clear that he had far more than just height and brute strength. His career's been a bit fucked up due to his own mistakes and weak mentality, but we should know better than anyone else that he's clearly something special.

All the other teams had their managers and their Korean players at the presser. Sunderland had Catts

Think getting Cisse so cheaply spoiled us a bit. Top strikers with no outstanding flaws would usually cost something like 20m+
-
Given Chelsea's summer spending, I'm pretty sure we're in no danger of making another run for the top 4 regardless
-
Going to the Sunderland match tomorrow. 5 people wearing black and white shirts, hope some of their players notice

Don't see how Hoillet fits into any system of football to be honest, he's pretty much the consummate individualist I'm not saying I'd want him here, because I don't, but he's just a better fit for a 4-3-3 type system. I have my doubts. Our 4-3-3 is predicated almost entirely on intelligent interplay between the front three making up for their relative isolation on the pitch. Hoilett strikes me as being neither savvy nor unselfish enough to make that work. Think we'd see a lot of him giving the ball away or running himself into the corner flag.

I think the fact that he's signing for QPR in itself tells us alot about why NUFC aren't interested. Don't see how Hoillet fits into any system of football to be honest, he's pretty much the consummate individualist
