  1. transition season, results will spike, shouldn't expect better than mid table etc. [panic] God, oh God, why WHY WHY are we so bad. I just can't take it anymore: the pain of seeing us serve up shit week in and week out is just tearing up my insides :banghead: [/panic] ...So umm... Yeah, back Big Sam till the summer I guess.
  2. About 4-5? Even defenders net 1~2 a year. He should get a few headers from corner kicks and one or two lucky long shots I think.
  3. We could just play Taylor or Geremi there. Neither would be an absolute disaster I think. Oh f***, Geremi is off to the ACN too. We won't be forced to play Carr so no worries. If Taylor gets crocked again, we may have to play Carr.
  4. a Agreed. I don't think he was as bad as some made out. Always gave 110%. If he doesn't stick around here i bet he'll do Ok somewhere else. Aye. He'll likely drop down from PL level and do alright. I felt sorry for him when he was getting stick for playing at left-back - he was gash there obviously, but what's he going to do if he's asked to play there? Thing is he's not a defender with compulsive concentration problems like Bramble and Boumsong, he IS perfectly capable of playing 90 minutes without fucking up. It's just that his technical ability and defensive positioning aren't good enough for the PL, I think he'd do quite well and Norwich. (although we shouldn't assume that they'll be snapping up all of our rejects just because Roeder is there)
  5. Would be willing to be part with just about any reasonable sum of money for something honoring Sir Bobby. I agree that stand-naming should probably be reserved for people with a longer career with a club. The youth academy idea sounds good to me.

    BABAYARO GONE!!

right, you need an LB, not a physio room decoration. could we interest you in versatile Fullback and former senior international Steve Carr?
  7. Smith dosent deserve to be dropped Why not give him full 90 minutes tomorrow so he can get a goal and some confidence. Viduka should be our last option in attack. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/Smileys/Lots_O_Smileys/laughs.gif Even if he dont score a single goal for rest of the season but still plays the passionate style like he did against Arsenal, i still would prefer him instead of Fatman Scoop. Viduka hasnt showed a shiiiit, he just looks fat and tired. wholeheartedly disagree on the viduka comment What kind of a message do we send in this time of revival if we drop or most passionate player though. Unless Smith is really knackered from Wednsday, he has to start.
  8. It's not a matter of who we can afford though, it's a matter of who would come here. Purely money-wise, we could probably afford Ronaldinho if he was for sale. But he would never come here. Matt Taylor seems like about the level of player we could realistically attract
  9. Well, Big Sam clearly hasn't forgotten how to make Wenger hate him. Excellent preformance. Deserved to win, but I'll take a point and be glad about it. Let's get the season going now. ....just hope we don't lose to Birmingham this weekend and start the whole merry-go-round all over again.
  10. Big Sam's been giving the lads some good acting lessons I see
  11. Adebayor's dive looks even worse on the replay. Does he seriously think we'll believe that N'zogbia knocked him over without using his hands? He's probably got three stone on him ffs
  12. Alan Smith deserves to get a goal... He hasn't scored in the prem for how long?
  13. it's always quiet in the last ten minutes. Everybody busy praying we'll score
  14. Actually, wouldn't that be a signal of Smith playing right wing?
  15. Don't think an average striker will end up scoring while we're dominating posession like this. If anyone nicks a goal for Arsenal, I can't see beyond Adebayor. Legitimately as good as Drogba now. Hardly. Aye, this isn't the place, but that's balls, mate. I'm actually dead serious. Somebody want to start a thread? =p No. Not bothered enough to start one myself either. There are slightly more important things going on right now anyway.

  18. this worries me. For a moment there I was thinking "f***, he's gonna bring Henry on now." Not all that worried by Bendtner tbh
  19. Think we're actually playing very well right now. You can tell that most of them are playing their hearts out. I really hope the atmosphere at SJP is cracking today. I'm in lecture so I can't even turn the sound on.
  20. Villa's team is strong, but the squad is weak - far too small. Take out goalkeepers and we've got 17 players in the squad. It woudn't take too many injuries to not be able to name a bench. Good point that, wasn't distinguishing between team and squad. City and Spurs aren't exactly brimming with depth either though, so I figure the rankings would stay the same. Were not brimming with Depth??? Lennon Routledge Malbranque Taarabt Zokora Jenas Huddlestone Tainio Boateng Ghaly and also Bale plays there. Sorry, forgot half those players existed. well.. you've got the numbers, I'll give you that.
  21. It's pretty sad when you think about it. Geremi looks shit, Emre is a good player who was just never suited for English football, Butt is 33 in three weeks, and Smith is a good...striker. Wish we could have just one good midfielder we could be proud of. Maybe Joey Barton will be that. Then again, with our luck, maybe not.
  22. So you're saying that if we offered you Viduka back today you wouldn't take him in a heartbeat? Aliadiere, Tuncay, and Lee Dongook are all in deadly form I hear.

Good point that, wasn't distinguishing between team and squad. City and Spurs aren't exactly brimming with depth either though, so I figure the rankings would stay the same. We've been very, very lucky with injuries so far this season. Although the facilities at the new training complex (and the training methods) might have some influence on that, there's no getting away that we'd be very stretched very quickly. He says he only wants to buy the players he really wants and is prepared to wait, but it is a dangerous game. We have no right back and only one left back (and Barry is s*** at LB, so not an option) at the club, but we've got about 12,000 centre halves. If Mellberg and Gardener got injured, or Bouma, we'd be f*****. He needs to buy very well in January or it will bite us on the arse. If it's any consolation at all you playing four center-halves in the defense seems to be working better than us actually having fullbacks.

  25. outside of the top 4 I think I'd rank overall squad strength as Portsmouth-Everton-Blackburn-Villa-City-Spurs. I'd like to think we have better players than West Ham at least.
