Their only premiership quality player (perhaps excluding Ashley Young) is out injured for the season. Quite frankly, this is almost as imbalanced as us v. Chelsea, only favoring us this time. It's even a home tie. Should be able to smash them comfortably. Then again, Sheffield United... bluedead.gif

Them jumping in was stupid aswell. They are 17, teens do daft things without thinking, footballers especially. Coaching staff should of never allowed them to jump in, but saying that, are we sure it was during a training session, most likely is but... Mate I am 13. So technically I count as a teen but I think the term teen demines ur capabilities and make you sound like an idiotic child who's becoming an adult. Well, that's kind of what a teen is I was one till just a couple years back, so no offense, but a few years down the road you'll probably realize that those years of your life were a very "interesting" time to say the least. I'll probably think the same thing about myself now 5~10 years later as well.

He's signed for Man U, actually played for them in the preseason a lot this year. They basically just had him loaned off to Antwerp long-term because they couldn't pick up a work permit for him. He's a good player IMO, better than he gets credit for. But I don't think he'll every be a first-teamer for the manure. Mostly a signing with an eye to Chinese shirt sales I think. Still, hope he proves me wrong. Always nice to see more asians in the prem.

this is golden. I'm Christian but really not offended at all. I'll probably use this as my ringtone for a while.

Just an interesting thought experiment that occured to me. This is our injury list at the moment. Harper (second choice keeper) Krul (third choice keeper) Moore (starting centerback) Bramble (starting centerback) Solano (starting rightback) Carr (second-choice rightback) Bernard (second choice leftback) Parker (captain and starting central midfielder) Emre (starting central midfielder) Duff (starting left winger) N'zogbia (second-choice left winger) Dyer (starting central midfielder/striker/winger) Owen (best striker) Ameobi (3rd~4th choice striker) If a similar thing happened to Chelsea, they would probably lose Cudicini, Hilario, Terry, Carvalho, Boulahrouz, Geremi, Bridge, Lampard, Ballack, Robben, Joe Cole, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Drogba, Kalou Which would probably leave them with the severely damaged (although admittedly still impressing) lineup of... Cech Ferreira Morais Essien Cole Makelele Diara Mikel Ballack Shevchenko Sinclair Not to imply that our players our analogous in quality to theirs, but this should give you an idea of what sort of injury situation we're in. Even the most ridiculously deep squad in the premiership would be hard-pressed to ride out this sort of crisis. These are the conditions under which we played and fought well today. I suppose they deserve a round of applause, no?

Fighting preformance. Sheer force of will + shite finishing from Kalou and Sheva almost handed us a most deserved point. The boost of confidence we should recieve from this game is probably worth far more than just a point in the long term, as long as Roeder capitalizes on it in the locker room. Solid preformance from all of our regulars, and Babayaro showed some definite improvement. Perhaps Nigel Pearson is indeed our blessing in disguise? Huntington obviously had butterflies raging in his stomach, but he did a solid job in what must have been a tough first start. He'll look back on tihs day with pride if he goes on to do great things. Pattison still looks unready for first-team football. Mostly invisible with some shocking mistakes in between. Understandable though, and hope the lad doesn't take it too hard. Overall, I'm happy that we showed the cocky overpaid diving ****ers that we're no pushovers. Hope we kill them next week at home. We might not have the multi-million-pound players (outside of the physio room anyway,) but we've got more than enough spirit to be ten times the team Chelski is. Just hope Zog and Sib are ok Proud to be a fan. Howay the lads.

Wait. If you find out that the final scoreline is 6-0 beforehand, you just might burn your TV before you get to watch the game.

I almost ran an analysis of Newcastle's # of injuries compared to the rest of the prem each season for my intro statistics final project this term. Thank God I didn't. I don't think my sanity would have survived the ordeal.
-
He tends to be a smarmy ass in Football Manager though. Always asks for a transfer for no good reason or picks fights with Martins or whatnot...
-
milner right back, rossi right wing I know what Roeder is doing. This is just what I'd like to see.
-
I remember watching Martins get stretchered off during his debut at Villa and screaming "WHY! WHY!" into the screen. If I knew what our injury situation would be like right now, I think I would've just shot myself then and there.
-
Given Huntington Taylor Ramage Babayaro Milner Butt Pattison N'zogbia Sibierski Martins Definitely Pattison over Luque. In this sort of game, spirit counts for anything, and you simply can't afford to play a bloke who doesn't care no matter how "good" he might be. Luque could be a 7-foot Maradona with the right foot of Beckham and the left foot of Roberto Carlos for all I care. I still wouldn't play him.

This is the kind of news story you clip and tuck in your album to show your grandchildren a few decades down the road. "Aye, we lived in some pretty screwed up times back then..."

Funniest analogy ever!

If we win tonight, I'll honestly believe that we'll be able to turn this season around into a top 4 finish. So strong will be the momentum stacked up behind us. Odds of the Sheva loan "deal" going through are probably better than us winning though.

1950 World Cup: United States 1 - 0 England 1966 World Cup: North Korea 1 - 0 Italy 2002 World Cup: Senegal 1 - 0 France ...Crazier things have happened. ......Then again, the very fact that the odds we are up against is comparable to those of the underdogs listed aboves is probably testament to the sort of task we face. Would be bloody screaming happy with a point. I fear I wouldn't actually survive 3. Brain would probably explode.
-
With the posts you make, you'd think you actually are Albert Luque. It would certainly lend credence to all those claims he's not making an effort to learn the language. That's a f*cking pathetic, ignorant comment. I bet he speaks your native language better than you do his. I assume this was a joke. I suppose it's funny.

ok so is there a specific country you have to be from to think what i do? your post is equally moronic. Yes, it's called America. Lot of wankers. Kidding aside, I'm actually very happy that Emre is the kind of man that's confident enough in what he believes in to display it publicly like that. In whatever form it may come, faith is a wonderful thing. It's unfortunate how many cannot appreciate that. (no offense to the American fans out there btw, just kidding.) Even terrorist attaacks? or religious wars? You may appreciate these forms but i certainly do not. The things you are purporting to be examples of faith are really just evil people using the pretense of faith as an ends ot achieve their means. If you would condemn all relgion because of the sins of terrorists and false prophets, Would you condemn the entirety of the human race just because it contains some murderers, rapists, and mackems?

Aside from the fact that the odds of this going through are about as likely as Wales winning Euro 2008... Come on, some people here actually think loaning Sheva would be a BAD idea? He's Shev-facking-chenko damn it! Bad form is temporary, especially when you're one of the best strikers in the history of the game. Anyway, even if he flops, we'd basically be losing nothing considering that it'll be a loan deal. Not a bad idea at all, but no way this is happening.
-
You should also consider that we have the benefit of being in the Premiership, which is in recent years at least considered a more attractive place to play in than the Bundesliga. IMO, Even considering Hamburg's history, mediocre premiership club>mediocre Bundesliga club is what most players would think.
-
Djourou signed a 6 year contract in the summer and Cygan makes our current CB's look competent! Cygan doesn't play in Arsenal, he's in Villarreal... Another good point Ah, excuse my lack of knowledge as to the whereabouts of the now and former unwanteds of the Arse.
-
5 mil + some combination of Djourou+Hoyte+Cygan+Lauren+Alladiere etc.=sold At least 10 mil if we're going for straight up cash. But I'd rather have players. God knows FFS will just blow the 10 mil on Nugent or something. Then again, dare I hope that we could cut a shrewd deal for him and not just hand one of our best prospects to Arsenal on a silver platter?
-
No, get your facts straight. Most of the posts here have said we were the better side, but that as the better side we cannot even win at home to them in the league. That causes worry. Does it not worry you? Do you even sodding care? No idea what's got your panties in a knot mate. All I'm saying is that I don't like the tone of a lot of the posts that are going up these days. Of course I'm worried about our bad form, what I'm against is the very loud minority that's suddenly jumped up to declare the entirety of our coaches, our players, and our club as a whole a piece of steaming doggie-poop over 10 games of bad form.
-
I'm sick of this negativity. Apparently some of us have now been reduced to considering every player on our team as shite, every member of the backroom team as incompetent. Every win is a fluke, and we're "played off the pitch" in every match. I can't believe a significant minority actually thinks we were the worse side against Charlton. Sure, we've got an arse for a chairman, some coaching issues, and we're on a pretty bad run. But it sickens me to think that that's enough for a lot of people to suddenly declare us the shite club of England. I just have no respect for fans who enjoy pissing on their own club.
