I can't think of anyone standing out all season in terms of overall performances. Seriously, who's going to bid for anyone we have with the sort of crazy money we'd accept given that they've all been a shower of shit. Maybe Krul? But he wouldn't want to leave. Other than Colo I can't foresee any major outgoings.

It pisses me off more every time I think about it. This season is basically last season without the absurdly good luck and defensive organization. The luck, fine. But what the fuck happened to the organization. Do we not train anymore? Has everyone decided it was okay to stop trying? Last year we had to play half the season each with Ryan Taylor at left back and Williamson at Center Back and we were still miles better at defending. What the fuck happened man.

Revisionist history to say the football was turgid last season. It was nothing exciting, but for the most part we were well-drilled and well-organized. God knows where all of that went.
  4. I'm not saying it's impossible it's just highly, highly unlikely. Dumb luck will conspire to get us a couple results as it has for most of the season.
  5. Well, we've still got 36 of them despite being shit all season. We'll probably manage 3~4 out of the last five somehow.

I'm getting to the point where every day that goes by without him being sacked I feel like writing big red numbers on Mike Ashley's office window like the main character in Zero Dark Thirty.

    Still not sacked. Disappointed.
  8. I think Moyes would be a bit risky in that he's a case of perfect "club-manager" match. No telling how well he'd actually do if you take him away from the club he knows inside-out. We've had that once with Allardyce already.
  9. We are in exactly the position to be fussy. Pardew's utter failure nonwithstanding this is a very attractive job on paper now. Premier league club, big stadium, good squad, and board who don't seem hellbent on fucking things up anymore. Should the club choose to make a managerial appointment this summer there's no reason we can't bring in one of those select few managers who have the capability to make a team more than the sum of its parts. Absolutely critical that we apply the same diligent and analytical approach that we apply to buying players.
  10. The last time we had to make a managerial appointment the board had a toxic reputation for undermining their managers and not supporting them in the transfer market. Hopefully this has changed given how they backed Pardew to the hilt this year. May enable us to make a better appointment.
  11. I'd take managers with histories of defensive football as long as they were good at it.

I had serious concerns about his mental stability after Reading. Seemed to get his old confidence back after the new signings but probably lost it again now. Reminds me of Roeder's last days when he was visibly rattled after losses and consistently referring to himself in first person.

At the end of the day this thread is an offense to humanity and its closing will be one of the many positive effects of sacking Pardew.

Rubbish! Ashley is the one who makes the decision of who manages the club, the fan's opinions are totally irrelevant to him. We all know Pardew is almost certain to be here next season. The only reason people assume that Pardew is unsackable is because they assume that the worst possible thing will always happen to this club. Which is... a pretty fair assumption, come to think of it.
  15. I do have quite a bit of reservation about appointing a French-speaking manager to lead our already mostly francophone squad.
  16. That post-match interview was not on-camera live hara-kiri. Therefore it was inadequate.
  17. I'd swim across the North Sea, walk from the coast to Wigan, put Martinez on my back, carry him up to Newcastle, and then swim back home to make this happen. I'd swim back doing the backstroke with that c*** on my back. Lost all respect for him after he defended that shithouse tackle. Don't think Haidara or any of the players would fancy being managed by him after those comments. Could have a real negative impact appointing him after sacking Pardew, who seems to be reasonably popular in the dressing room if nothing else. Right because you think players care to what journalists writes about manager of other clubs? If Martinez came here and got them to pass the ball around I swear to go Benny, Marv, Cabaye, Ciss, Debuchy, Siss would all be wanking all over him. Because I think players are human beings with emotions and hold grudges like everybody else.

It has been the story of our side since we sold Nolan, who needed replacing. We don't have enough of a goalscoring threat through the center and we barely look like scoring once, it is a shock when we score more than that. We'd have a goalscoring threat in the center if Cabaye wasn't playing as a sweeper.

  20. At this point I think I'd settle for someone average who's willing to just not actively get in the players' way.

Argument invalid because their manager was no different, if not moreso. Yeah, but in a different way. He tried to 'guide' his team all 90 minutes. He celebrated the goal very emotional but he didn't react like a clueless child when they missed a chance or so. I really don't think I'd use the words "Mourinho" and "calm" in the same sentence.

Very, very low? Eh? Why not? He might not be signing a new contract at Everton and MA could easily do to Pardew what he did to Hughton; especially if the stories of MA's "ruthless streak" is all true. I mean obviously he'd be a fantastic appointment but surely he'd have better offers and might be put off by Ashley's reputation (which is probably a bit unfairly negative at this point.) And he has a salary of £3m or so a year. No way we'd pay a manager that. Really don't feel comfortable predicting what Ashely would or would not do anymore.
