I'd love someone to explain how it would take 7 years to build a new stadium. This is all becoming incredibly tedious.

    Match Atmosphere

Great clips that bring back the memories of being a young teenager travelling the country in the mid/late 80s. It’s a bit cringe that we used to occasionally sing YNWA though. The only time I ever experienced it was the last day of the season in 89 at Old Trafford when we had already been relegated. We sang it that day to annoy the Man Utd fans as there was loads of back and forth between us in the paddock and them sat in the seats above us. To say it got heated between us and them that day is an understatement.

What's the chances of everyone who was there last week being at Wembley too? If they are then there is zero excuse for a lack of noise.

Jesus. I haven't been keeping up with how the tickets are being distributed, but we aren't writing off the cup final atmosphere already are we?

    Jason Tindall

A loud rendition of "wake me up before you go-go" from our fans when we play them next, please.
  6. I think it's a good thing maybe. Last year everyone seemed to put all of their energy into the night before instead of the actual game, hence the abysmal backing from our lot throughout the match.
  7. Liverpool is definitely the one to worry about, I will be livid if he ends up with those bastards. I'd rather he went to Arsenal. Hopefully he's going nowhere though.

That sounded like a better atmosphere than the PSG game. Wish it was like that every week. That was the SJP of old.

    St James' Park

Only 3 months ago he was saying that anyone who believes there would be any kind of development on Leazes Park is "batshit crazy". He's pretty insufferable when it comes the the subject of stadium redevelopment/relocation.

I don't understand the desire for a huge "kop" end mind. Its an outdated concept and the views from near the back of it would be bloody awful.
  11. Agree with that. He became a more complete player at Man Utd but in the process lost his flawless finishing that he had with us.
  12. That's not the player I remember at all. Cole was absolutely lethal for the entire time of his NUFC career. He might have had his chances created a lot by Peter Beardsley but he still always finished them. Isak still misses 1 on 1 chances. Cole never did. "Gets the ball and scores a goal". Never been a more accurate song about an NUFC player.
  13. He's still not quite as good as Cole in his NUFC heyday but he's getting there. I've thought for a while that he's the closest thing we have seen to Andy Cole and he plays very much like him. The comparison to Henry is absurd IMO. On another note, the lad desperately needs a better song as that "Mackems Net" dirge is properly cringeworthy. We have got one of the best strikers in the world and we serenade him with a song related to goals scored against lower league fodder. FFS, at the very least he should be getting the "Isak's on fire/defence is terrified" song.
  14. Hopefully they will use the people who redesigned the Bernabeu to design our new stadium. I'd be over the moon if we just built a Bernabeu replica, in terms of internal design, steepness of stands, facilities & technology, proper roof that can fully close etc. It's the greatest football stadium in the world, bar none. I'd like to see the exterior look a bit different though, as the spaceship exterior works a treat in Madrid but would look well out of place in Newcastle city centre.

NUFC are never moving to Silverlink, or anywhere like it.

That article reads as pretty depressing to me, and makes me think it will all be kicked into the long grass. Sure, they might announce a plan soon but I won’t be surprised if a shovel doesn’t hit the ground for years.
  17. Assuming the material will be the same, they absolutely have to bring back the away top too.
  18. Yeah we will have to disagree. You dont move to a club just for its history, you go for the team you are joining, and I dont think there is much between us and LFC when you remove Salah from the equation. As long as we can match the wages LFC can offer then there is no reason to jump ship if NUFC are also qualifying for the CL.
  19. Take Salah out of this current team and they arent guaranteed to be a top two team IMO. He is literally carrying them to the title himself. And as good as Isak is, he's nowhere near the current level of Salah.
  20. Take Salah out of the current LFC team and I dont think there is much between them and the current NUFC squad. Give Isak the correctly updated contract and I dont see why he should want to uproot and go there.
  21. This is the worry for me too. I will be disgusted if we sell him to the dippers to fuel their following 5 title challenges. Under no circumstances should we sell to them, no matter the price.

Do they have bigger local catchment areas? We have an entire quarter of the country to ourselves, something that they dont. If we were to be successful too I could see us having a significant following north of the border too.

70k is the sweet spot for me, with expansion potential for another 10k. 65k is where the other big clubs are already at, and they want even bigger, so we need to jump past the stage where they are currently at if we want to gain parity with them over the long term. Once you get past 70k capacity though it becomes more difficult to have a stadium that can keep an atmosphere in the place. So building a very big stadium that still feels like a bearpit is the challenge.
  24. Yep. And there is no way they will lose the 115 case now. They will simply nuke the entire league if it doesn't go their way. I love how savage they are being with the PL, it's great to see.
  25. Can someone do a link to a readable version of this Martin Samuel article? https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/manchester-city-unlawful-legal-martin-samuel-cv7l7x72v#:~:text=Wrapped up in legalese is,may wish to spin it. Edit : found one.... https://archive.ph/NndOh
