That’s the most likely explanation. If I hadn’t gotten glimpses of our away end when the ball went near them, I would have thought there was no away fans there based on the sound. Were the mics turned down or something? Mind, I thought that their much-vaunted crowd weren’t that impressive either.

You missed my post on the previous page then.

I shall never doubt you again, Eddie. x
-
Yeah, do I feel stupid right now.

And I’m one of those who have watched far worse and still got behind the team wildly. Think Derby away in 1992. I’d still be shouting myself hoarse tonight too, despite being unhappy with the team selected. But it would be singing in defiance, not expectation. That team is simply too much of a gamble for me.
-
Given up, nah. The odds are very much against a win for us though with that starting line up. Hoping that it’s still level with 20 mins to go doesn’t float my boat I’m afraid.
-
I’d be pretty pissed off if I was one of the 7k who have gone down there and saw that starting line up. The game could be over by half time.

Yeah, I think if we do stay on the current site, and Leazes Terrace can't be moved, then we will end up with a design that looks like the Aviva. As long as the roof actually protects from the elements, goes all the way to the edge of the pitch perimeter, and is also designed to keep sound within the stadium it could look really special.

If we'd stuck with the same eleven in the 2nd half we'd have lost that game. I just think that it's essential that we put out a strong midfield for this one.
-
It's also worth noting that we beat City because the likes of Bruno were brought on after they played us off the park in the 1st half.
-
We can afford to make changes to the back four, no argument about that. But also resting the likes of Bruno & Longstaff? Might as well just give Man U a quick call and tell them they can just go straight through, without us making the trip down there.
-
For all those saying drop all of our key players, did you even want us to enter this competition? Seems like people have thrown in the towel already for this game, so dropping big players gives a ready made excuse for the defeat.
-
You don’t rest a player just because you are worried about him getting injured man. Should we rest him against Arsenal too then? The point is that Wednesday is a huge game and we need to win, therefore we need a strong team out there.
-
Fair point. I did notice that too. Generally though, they were excellent, with loads of different songs. Not going to lie, it annoys me no end how other fan bases have a varied songbook and ours are now just generic rip-offs of others’ songs.
-
Only problem is, that day it would have been full of people who got their tickets through ST holding mates. I seriously doubt it will be like that at Chelsea this season.

My seat gave a good opportunity to hear both ends of the ground. Sure, the Gallowgate corner gave it their all throughout as usual but the main section of the Gallowgate were quiet as a mouse. City were much louder I’m afraid.

Not anytime soon, when there are so many big games coming thick and fast. He’s barely played 15 games in 3 months. Here we are, still trophyless, and people want us to play a weak team for a game we have a brilliant chance of winning. Madness.
-
Why? He’s 25 and in his physical prime, for crying out loud.
-
I would have hated being underneath them at that game. I was at the Gallowgate end of Level 7 and they sounded loud as fuck even from there.
-
Dear God. It’s only October FFS and we have essentially a young team. We should NOT be resting the core of our side for this game. Older players like Trippier and Burn need a rest, but not players like Bruno and Gordon. I will be livid if we play a weak team against these on Wednesday. They are on their knees morale-wise and we should be going for their jugular.
-
Can only speak for their games that I’ve watched but their fans always seem loud to me. They completely outsang us in the cup game last month, that’s for sure. Their songbook is much better too.
-
Sorry but that’s an awful take. Just because some other clubs have no atmosphere does not mean that we have to be the same. City’s away support was class today btw. Once again nailing the myth that sustained success has killed the terrace culture in their support.

Old Trafford is falling down, Ten Hag is a fking clown, Glazers staying ten more years, Man City are on the beers…. They were singing it at our place recently…

Loving that City song about Old Trafford & the Glazers. Lovely stuff.
