As has been discussed in the SJP thread, the Saudi's intentions for ground redevelopment will tell us if the Mackems will be able to have their dreams come true. Personally, mainly due to witnessing 40 years of false dawns & various let downs, I'm on the fence & will refrain from gloating at them for the time being.
-
Said it the other day. Walking around SJP on a non-matchday you realise just how grotty & dated it is. And that's just the exterior. As people have already said, it's the location that makes the home of NUFC special. Building a new stadium 200 yards north of the current location is not going to make that location any less special. In fact, incorporate the new stadium into a new-look Leazes park and the new location could look incredible if done right. It's time to make the move. If the Saudis put that move to Leazes Park on the table, and the fanbase somehow reject it, then they wont be here for the long term.

I had a walk around the entire stadium yesterday with a friend who was visiting from abroad. Fucking hell the exterior of the car park behind the Leazes end is in a shambolic state. Scruffy as fuck and green stains all over the place, it was actually pretty embarrassing to witness. The place needs a massive, massive exterior upgrade at the very least as the whole stadium just looks generally tired & dated.

This isn't even an exaggeration. Second only to Kevin Keegan.

Incredible that people are actually believing that shit isnt it. Anything to soften the blow of us possibly being prepared to let a crown jewel go. I'd actually be more worried if that is what they actually have done today.

Something is definitely starting to look suspiciously off. This being NUFC, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we were back up for sale within the next 18 months.

The debate to be had here is not whether or not any deal happens, it’s whether we are actually looking to sell. If it is conclusively revealed that we are, and to a supposed rival in the same league, then they have no idea of how badly that will be received. The optics of this are just horrendous, regardless of how much truth there is in it.
-
Selling this lad would be every bit as bad as the day when Waddle/Beardsley/Gascoigne/Carrol were allowed to leave. In fact it would be worse in some ways, since we are now supposed to be one of the league’s most powerful clubs. Regardless of whether the story has any truth in it, this is a staggeringly bad look for NUFC. Makes you wonder if these owners are now seriously revising their ambitions and intentions.

Forgetting the actual football team for one moment, never thought I’d consider buying anything Engerland related, but that Nike Tech Fleece hoodie/jogger combo all of the players are wearing for the media briefings is tempting. Really nice colour and the quality/comfort looks really good too.

And he is one of their moderators too. He lives for banning NUFC posters on there. Brings some much needed joy into his miserable existence.

'The Beast of the Metty C" If I remember right it was Salty who was the prime suspect.

I worked with Jamie, aka Winchester Mag a few years ago. An absolute top fella, and someone who I discovered actually uses swear words in general conversation more than me, which takes some doing. I also worked in the USA in 1995 with Steve H*****t, aka toontoon, on a student exchange programme & we went travelling round the states too with a few other lads afterwards. Great times. GTLO was a Mackem on Skunkers wasn’t he? Always remember him being your stereotypical obsessed SMB. Then of course there was Walter/wtdog, who I still see making the odd snide comment on social media when it comes to NUFC. Walter always came across as someone who secretly regretted choosing SAFC as his team instead of NUFC, considering he was from Gateshead and most of his mates were probably black & white.
-
Hope Toontastic hasn’t gone for good as it’s the closest thing left to what Skunkers was like. Skunkers was basically the message board equivalent to being on the terraces in the 1980s. You said stupid shit that you didn’t believe or mean in the slightest. Pretty much everything was said for effect and to get a reaction & nothing more than that. There would be the odd divvy who would turn up and actually take the place seriously but they were quickly mocked for not being in on the ‘joke’.

It's awesome. Incredibly creative for a 2 minute feature. And the tune by Win is pure class too.

Exhibition was actually a pretty decent drink. Everything else that came from S&N though was absolute piss. The best thing to come out of the Scottish & Newcastle brewery was this advert for McEwan's Lager. Absolutely epic & simply wouldn't be made today.

I was there and yeah, it was crazy. The main thing that stopped it being a Hillsborough-type event was that there was a spare, empty pen in the corner of the ground where NUFC fans were allowed to jump into when it became clear that there was a crush happening.
-
70,000 is the sweet spot. We'd fill that every week in an all-new stadium.
-
To me, that's simply because those fans haven't seen any viewable plan for an alternative stadium nearby to the SJP site. They are basically afraid of the unknown.

It's just one sample, but I noticed on this twitter feed that 67% of people voted for Option C. I know some on here won't agree, but I do think that this would be an accurate reflection of the opinion of the wider fanbase. https://x.com/NUFCFEED/status/1780329240782672359

Option C for me. Although we could design something better looking than that. I think the integration with Leazes Park looks fantastic too.

That’s the second time they have done a review on the visiting NUFC experience. On both occasions they said everything about it was great apart from the atmosphere, which they said was poor. Which is basically the exact same thing that us NUFC fans complain about.
