Please make the point that fans absolutely MUST be allowed to choose where they sit within the stadium if they are going to persist with this. I applied for this workshop too and got nowhere. Couldn’t even win a ballot to talk about the ballot.

Aye, he won’t be there next season.

It definitely needs to happen on that kind of level if we truly want to challenge the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool on a long-term basis. We need a mountain of revenue to come from our stadium and a tarted up SJP simply won’t cut it.
  4. I'm not disputing that. The point I made was that I believe that PIF offered to sort out the BEIN dispute long before October 2021 but the PL simply put more obstacles in the way. The court case eventually made them back away from those obstacles and allowed it to go through based on paying the compo to BEIN alone.
  5. That's the thing with that place though. They can't criticise without resorting to catastrophising. That Deschain character on there is the worst....an absolute drama queen, and flip-flops all the time, depending on how a game pans out.
  6. It's not that I don't think resolving the piracy issue was what unblocked it. I just don't believe that it took PIF 18 months to offer to do that. I reckon they offered to sort it very early on in the saga but the PL just put more obstructions in the way, at the behest of their six overlords. Once the whole thing went nuclear with the televised hearing, the PL just said "ok, sort out your with dispute with BEIN.....like you offered to do so 18 months ago.....and we will pass it through"
  7. It's amazing how people still can't see it. The thing dragged on for 18 months and then as soon as the PL's QC had his arse handed to him live on a stream the whole thing was resolved within a fortnight. Piracy my arse.
  8. If you think the criticism has been bad on here, console yourself with the fact that it's not infested with complete cry babies like this place. https://www.not606.com/threads/toon-v-hatters.410988/page-10 To be fair though, reading across the various social media platforms, last weekend was the first time I've seen it being openly questioned whether Howe will still be the man in charge in a season or two.

The facade might not be to everyone's taste (personally I think it looks amazing) but the inside of the Bernabeu is hands down the best layout for seats in a football stadium IMO. It's got the perfect mix of great views for everyone & steep stands/proper roof that create an enclosed, imposing & intimidating environment. I'd love it if we built a near replica of that layout. We can debate how it should look on the outside after that.

Yep, it was notorious in the 80s and I think it was Leeds who invented it as they truly despised Man Utd. I think the rivalry between the two of them stems from the antagonism around Munich tbh. As far as I'm aware, it was also Leeds who started the Spurs/Auschwitz song. They were a horrible bunch back then.

Another reason I'm fairly sure it was associated with Man U back then is because of the grim way the tune was converted into the song about the Munich disaster. Alas, I do remember NUFC fans taunting them with it on the two visits I made to Old Trafford in the 80s.

Sunderland fans must wistfully wish that Manure still sing it with the same lyrics. "They still sing about little old Sunlun, marra"

They mention it here on Red Cafe... https://www.redcafe.net/threads/chants-songs-from-the-1960s-1970s.210975/post-4881516 And also here.. https://www.fanchants.com/football-songs/manchester_united-chants/whos-that-team-we-call-united-2/ You can tell it's an old song because it actually mentions the Mackems in the 2nd verse.

Be afraid, unfortunately. It was sung by them in the late 70s & early 80s religiously. NUFC fans never actually sung it at all in the same period. Weirdly it took off with our lot decades later, when Man U had basically ditched it from their songbook. As far as I was aware though, they were the original creators of it.

Magnificent again tonight. Villa fans were absolutely pathetic. Watkins wasn't happy with them was he?
  16. Absolutely tremdous that. But what on earth was up with Villa? They were astoundingly subdued right from the off. And their support was shambolic throughout. A very weird night all round but we will take it all day long.

Yeah but does that mean that a different set of fans are getting tickets for the cup games? There has to be something in it.
  18. Before tonight’s game, I had it in my mind that we’d use this game to turn our league form around. Now though I’m pretty sure we will have to wait for the turnaround to start at least one game later. Tonight’s midfield three against Villa will likely be brutal. A point gained would be an absolute joy.

The thing is though, tonight our support was loud right from the off and all the way through that dreadful first half. That was a different away crowd to what we normally see at away games this season. For instance, the away support at Sunderland was tripe compared to tonight.

Whoever was in that away crowd tonight, please just give them the tickets for all our away games going forward. That was our proper away support right there. Loads of old gems getting sung and new stuff that I’ve never heard before. There is hope for our support after all.
  21. Our fans are fucking magnificent tonight. Got to be loads of the old school in there, even "drink drink wherever you may be' is getting an airing.
  22. https://theathletic.com/5218649/2024/01/23/newcastle-almiron-transfer-trippier-wilson/ No idea how they can be so sure he will be on his way.
  23. This is brutal stuff but the club has got to be backed with what they are doing. We all know that these players are the ones that need to be upgraded and there's no subtle way of doing it. Lascelles, Wilson, Longstaff, Murphy...they will be next. I just think it's a real crying shame that we didn't win the cup last season. It would have been something that this set of players, and us as fans, could have looked back fondly on.
  24. No shame in losing that. They are the best team in the world and had to bring on arguably the best player in the world to get them over the line. Onwards. We can still finish 6th this season but anything higher than that isnt happening.

He's falling out of love with football, bless him. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/falling-out-of-love-with-football.1624571/post-39871022 And of course, if they had won on Saturday, I'm sure he'd feel the same. Ahem.
