  1. I think we'd be open to offers for him, potentially a club that has just been promoted, as quite telling his contract was amended last season but not extended. I'm hoping the club will move away from being too sentimental.
  2. If we can do that within the rules 100%. I think Chelsea would be open to selling due to their finances and we'd get cover for CB/RB with a promising young player.
  3. Overall thought it was quite a boring watch. I liked when Ramsey came on, he did well carrying the ball and excellent assist that Barnes finished well. Joelinton played well and unlucky not to get an assist right at the end. You can see why we are going to go for a new No 1 - Pope made the routine saves, but flapped a couple of times. Botman was sweeping up well, but not sure him and Thiaw are showing as much promise as a partnership. The squad needs a lot of work.
  4. Can see him going to Chelsea or Bayern. I'd take the money, would be a shame if we go for Acheampong and the rules class it as a swap...
  5. Assan Ouédraogo linked today, although dubious source. We were interested him back in 2024 before he signed for RB Leipzig and plays in midfield, mainly in that No 8 position, however I can't see him offering the same value given his value has went from €10m to them now wanting €40m. I do think we can write Kees Smit off from AZ as it looks like Real Madrid are pushing to sign him asap for €50m.
  6. I can see those - injury, new league/team and country so multiple adjusments. He will be competing with Park and Cordero so you'd think he will get another loan next season if they deem the U21 isn't going to challenge him enough. He has obviously shown glimpses to be in and around the first team two seasons ago - with a few minutes here and there.
  7. Lorient coach Olivier Pantaloni has thrown some light on the ill-fated loan spell that Newcastle teenager Trevan Sanusi has endured in France this season. "He arrived injured and it dragged on.Then, we mustn't forget that he's a young player, arriving from a foreign country, who doesn't speak the language. He found himself in a group that has been working together for a long time, with playing principles and training methods that are perhaps different from those at Newcastle. It was difficult for him. I think it's going to be difficult (for him to add to his five senior appearances). He's a kid who must have suffered from the situation. He's always persevered. "If Newcastle took a chance on him, it's because they saw potential in him for the future. When you come from there, you want to play as much as possible. We didn't give him the opportunity because we felt he wasn't quite ready for Ligue 1." A disappointing loan spell for Sanusi and at 19 you can't imagine him being in and around the first team squad next season if he wasn't classed as ready for Ligue 1.
  8. If he does prepare for a repeat of the FA Cup loss where Minteh burst past Burn to score.
  9. If only this was true. That isn't the team I'd choose, but will probably be what Eddie goes for. I've missed Barnes out as well.
  10. Pope, Miley, Thiaw, Botman, Burn, Bruno G. Tonali, Joelinton, J. Murphy, Osula, Willock Subs: Ramsdale, Wissa, Woltemade, Elanga, Ramsey, Trippier, Neave, Hall, Gordon
  11. If ever a game summed up our season, ironically it would be the 3rd round v Bournemouth this season. - mistake from Livramento - several players making individual errors - conceding an equaliser in last minute of the match I think it's quite clear we've been well on a handful of occasions this season, this video has been the norm throughout and for that you have to question the players and coaching.

    Jacob Murphy

One year left on his deal, sell him this summer.
  13. So that is Coulibaly (18), Ibrahima Ba (20) and Josh Acheampong (19) all linked today. We must be in the market for another CB that can offer use cover at full back.
  14. Mourinho would be a step backwards. From the CEO perspective, I think the quotes that have came out he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. You're going to get a % of fans saying not enough communication and then complain with quotes coming out. I think elements of it have been sensationalised which is driven by outlets looking for engagement hence terms like BOMBSHELL. If we went back to December 2025 you could say Howe called ownership out regarding training ground and stadium plans being in limbo - which at that time we haven't made progress in this area, albeit it sounds like training ground is coming up. We've seven matches to achieve Europe this season and that will determine what this summer is going to look like. The messaging from Edwards was consistent that the aim was Europe this season which Howe would have known. Last summer has hindered this season, but you've now got a Sporting Director and CEO in place with the Board calling the shots. We either see Howe decide to leave, mutual agreement to part ways at end of the season or Howe stays and given chance of Newcastle 2.0 refresh.

    Growing Pains

On reflection with us sticking to the rules that year to avoid a point deduction we lost Minteh and Anderson, whilst taking on board Vlach who we didn't really want. If Anderson moves for over £80m this season this financially will have caught us out. With the recent news about Chelsea it just makes a mockery of it all - we were scrambling to not be penalised based on our financial position whereas Chelsea gained a sporting advantage for years through illegal payments. The game is moving away solely from what happens on the pitch which might contribute to those fans that miss the 'older days' to balance sheets and court rooms (kangaroo ones in some cases). Have we progressed in the last four years? Yes... just not as quick as some fans would have wanted. I'd have loved a new training ground and stadium announced in their first season, but the pressing issues were management and players given we were looking at a relegation so I'd take that focus with European campaigns and a trophy today. With some senior leadership in place and a signed off plan I can't see any hold up with infrastructure if this is the route they want to go down.
  16. Gateshead have just gone 2-0 against Yeovil. Only side in the bottom 10 winning at the moment it looks like.
  17. Yes very common, but very rare the actual release clause is triggered - it does give clickbait titles like "Newcastle after £50m Brazilian star" when reality is much less than that.

    Jacob Murphy

With his contract up in 2027, the same as Willock, should we be open to offers for him? They're probably both a similar value as Murphy has a bit of output compared to Willock, but at 31 he might want a better contract offer than what we would look to do for him. If he was to go, we would need to replace him as can't be relying on Elanga and you'd think the leadership group would be severly dented with Trippier and Schar likely departing.
  19. The article from Martin Hardy https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/eddie-howe-newcastle-head-coach-premier-league-jszwsvgf5 references a message Hopkinson sent to club staff yesterday which sounds like it is from a Ted Lasso episode, but at least he has fronted up to it as well.
  20. It would seem local journalists have been briefed with Edwards, Hope and Douglas all saying Howe will be backed this evening, but a pivot towards younger players (23 and under) in a summer 'revival'. This will mean selling players and being bold i.e. Krafth, Trippier and Schar being released as opposed to kicking can down the road. We've seen names linked - the below are mainly from Hope and Douglas with the one in bold from more than one source, but do people think it will be wholesale changes? It would make sense clubs might be open to selling when players contracts are coming to an end which might influence decisions however I don't know if Howe would be open to such a change in tact. I don't feel like these would be the equivalent to bringing in the likes of Hall, Livramento, Botman, Bruno, Isak and Tonali. Robin Risser, 21 GK (contracted until 2030) Anan Khalaili, 21 or Bart van Rooij, 24 RB (contracted until 2028) Tom Rothe, 21 Hugo Bueno, 23 (contracted until 2028) or Dayann Methalie, 20 LB (contracted until 2030) Kees Smith, 20 (contracted until 2028) or Lamine Camara, 22 MF (contracted until 2029) Said El Mala, 19 or Bazoumana Toure, 20 FWD (contracted until 2030/2029)
  21. You would imagine Pope will start against Palace with Ramsdale going away with England. If Howe is saying that this extra time at the training ground is going to be important then we should use Pope until the end of the season. He has made several errors across the season, but Ramsdale isn't going to be a long term option and in short term better having Pope.
  22. That is concerning. The Brighton away match sticks out so I went to double check and this was their second goal, the first goal was also similar with an throughball splitting Botman and Thiaw: There are loads of instances where this has happened, pretty much all three goals against Liverpool at H were from the edge of the 18 yard box. Youve then got several errors from Pope in amongst our games with just poor decision making. This has been a systematic issue right across the season. Either the players are switching off after 80 minutes and individually not doing their jobs or teams work this out and eventually one chance is going to get put away. The shape in this screen grab from us is horrendous.
  23. We need to sign a DM this summer, we're getting exposed too often with a huge gap between our defence and midfield which basically allows the opposition to run at us. It happened today, all season and you could likely pull up examples from last season so unless we address this still going to be an issue. Defensively we've been poor with Hall and Tino when there is a turnover, you've had examples in recent weeks and today before their second where Tino is almost in the DM position causing Thiaw to get dragged out wide. Granted both good fullbacks, but we're leaving space to be exploited which just relies with a bit of technical ability and pace to cause us issues. This summer will be huge. If I was choosing top three positions to fill: 1) GK 2) DM 3) ST We clearly need more than this so will require a sale or two depending on how much change they opt to make. If we don't have European football then you could argue the squad would be bloated due to less games and Howe usually opts to use 13-14 players for minutes.
