  1. You do wonder if he had symptoms to move the 10 day isolation period to that instead of the Friday. He would have had to have had symptoms from the Tuesday or Wednesday to be released before the match, although it sounded like the routine test picked it up on the Friday evening.
  2. I'm trying to remember the layout but this would be the opposite way from the press conference room. If you entered the dressing room and looked right immendiately this would be straight ahead of you, I think there used to be a drinks machine so above that room would be towards the players entrance on a match day as they drive in. Be interesting to see what they do with it, but work must have started after Saturday as they've plastered it already!
  3. With all the recent managerial changes it got me thinking about the number of England players that have progressed into coaching/management and wondered if it was jobs for the boys or if it is just an age thing where this has always happened. If you take the 2006 England World Cup squad as an example: Gary Neville - managerial spell before move into punditry Ashley Cole - currently with Chelsea academy as a coach and England U21 Steven Gerrard - Aston Villa manager Rio Ferdinand - pundit John Terry - coaching Frank Lampard - managerial career Wayne Rooney - Derby manager Sol Campbell - managerial career Jamie Carragher - pundit Jermaine Jenas - pundit / TV Michael Carrick - interim Man United manager Scott Carson - Man City player Joe Cole - pundit Peter Crouch - TV Owen Hargreaves - pundit David James - coaching career / pundit I wonder if the post career guidance around this time was an either or situation on media training or coaching and if we will ever see a transition away from the game fro those young players that are now 16 - 21 and actually make it professionally.
  4. Still need to self-isolate for the 10 days.
  5. Staveley didn't look well when the camera cut to her - you feel like they need to get the CEO/DoF in to take on some of the workload. Nice to see Yasir at the game again today too.
  6. Teams will have a spell, a bit like Fulham last season, but we just need to weather it. The performance was pretty good today minus a few errors - Darlow does need to be dropped. We need to bring in some defenders to bring more balance to the side.
  7. There is currently a ban on this at the moment for 4/5 weeks? It was voted in at the last meeting 18-2 clubs.
  8. I'll assume this has already been shared http://outsideoftheboot.com/2017/10/06/tactical-philosophy-eddie-howe/ but just reading it and fills me with a bit of confidence moving forward. I'm hoping when/if we move to a 4411 we can make some clear personnel changes that have been crying out. Could see Wilson, Almiron, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin and Willock all fitting into the team with a pairing of Schar and Fernandez with Hayden protecting. The issue will be fullbacks, but with January coming up if we can get a decent pair it would help push us up the field.
  9. Personally I don't like the constant leaks - it has to be coming from the consortium as it has been referenced by local journalists they've got wind of information before it has happened. Craig Hope mentioned this on a recent podcast, Caulkin had the first interview after the failed takeover and Keith Downie mentioned this before his 24 hour stint. I can understand after years of zero communication trying to get the local media onside in what should be a brilliant time, but I think the consortium are not above criticism. I'm glad they haven't rushed into an appointment, but they were clearly looking at replacing Bruce as soon as it was confirmed and the process has spectacularly backfired in the early hours. I think the most important appointment moving forward will be a CEO that understands the game and a Director of Football to focus on that aspect of the club.
  10. I might have misread today, but did we approach Emery on the Friday before the Spurs game and he was unsure about it? They then went and did other interviews and due diligence before coming back to him? Happy with the appointment should it go through, it is a clear difference from previous regime where it ultimately seemed like they just went scrapping the bottom of the list.

While I do think Jones has made some errors his hands are tied. It does go on the players as well because we're not a great side with a lot of talent and the little talent we do have we haven't found a way to play that suits them all. I'd struggle to describe our system or tactics as we rarely play football. If he does get the Brighton game just go for something radical with either a change of formation, players or both. It isn't like he is risking his shot at the job and for those players on the fringes they'll most likely not get much playing time moving forward. Some quick wins are get Dubravka back in to offer some leadership in the backline, Fernandez needs to come in for any of the other three and Almiron should be back in the starting line up.
  12. I'm sure Pablo Longoria was mentioned early on in 2020 as the man to take us forward, although he is now the president of Marseille so doubt he would leave that to come back to the club. There was links with Villas-Boas and Sampaoli who have both been a manager under him at different clubs and he has experience with Juventus, Atalanta and Sassuolo.
  13. I think it might have been last year where they were looking at the mental health of young footballers in the aftermath or even through the season at the decision stage where they either get offered a professional contract or released. I mean even Longstaff for example who did an interview where he spoke about feeling low around the time he was injured and out of the team. The pressure of the game might start at 8 year old for some as they battle each year to stay in the system and as others have mentioned most likely be released!
  14. The league is ran for greed, but I can't see this going on as surely all clubs are causing longer term damage as brands no longer will look to invest in the Premier League. It has been said by numerous sources that it is pretty much illegal, but you have to feel like some clubs are now trying to prevent others from commercial growth through other means to reduce competition. Independent regulation will come in at some stage and a number of deals will be looked at for "market value".
  15. Interesting that out of the two lads with Morton it is McEntee who is deemed the more promising player as opposed to Tom Allan, who at 22, seems to have not even found his level in Scotland. Out of the players on loan listed on .com could only really see Vilca, Longstaff and Watts potentially get an opportunity longer term to prove their worth.
  16. The issue is that the pundits are less likely to be objective either through personal relationships, business dealings or previous engagements with clubs. There is a cancel culture that exists, but you'll often have ex players move into the media as a means of making a living and as a result offer "expert" opinions on the game as they see it. Do I care what some will say about Newcastle? No, because their opinion has been influenced by a personal relationship as opposed to watching or understanding the current situation around the club. The downside is when they fall into the etiquette of assuming or an opinion that is outdated due to not having the awareness to do some research. I'm not suggesting that a pundit needs to research in depth all twenty clubs, but if the media briefed them on the hot topics and they spent a bit of time (not Twitter) researching it might actually improve. Steve Bruce has left, he wasn't successful with us during his time here, but it wasn't unexpected based on the information we had from his previous spells with clubs in the Premier League. With a backdrop of an initially failed takeover that promised the world and minimal transfer dealings from an owner that was hated it pointed towards a dismal job. Steve Bruce accepted the role knowing full well the expectation from the club on his achievements and by staying up he fulfilled those. The media will turn their attention to Ole now because that will be the hot topic and in a few weeks time I imagine it will be another manager that will be facing the heat. This is the "narrative" of the best league in the world.

Have we actually appointed Kuqi yet or is the role available?
  18. Think we might have a DOF in before manager if Jones has two games?
  19. Retrospectively will this not result in a number of questions about current Premier League clubs and their sponsorships related to their owners? I imagine the Crystal Palace sleeve sponsorship by FaceBank would be questioned based on the investor John Textor being involved in the club as would Everton, Leicester City and Man City. The game is long gone and now the pressure on Hoffman is being reported based on other clubs you'll probably see some awful decisions. Clubs voting that intended on creating a Super League 6 months ago to the detriment of those that have voted with them now.
  20. Steve Bruce is not the right man to manage the team. Everything Redknapp is saying here are examples where Bruce falls down on.
  21. If Al-Rumayyan does arrive and attend would expect a bit more movement. It looks like things are pointing towards the CEO/Sport Director decision first rather than a managerial change.
  22. 100% this - it has become a vacuum both good and bad. I'm not sure if this exists already in the podcast world, but there has been an intrigue why posters that aren't born in Newcastle (especially those not in the UK) have an affinity to NUFC. We've got fan clubs around the world - would be interesting to see what the reaction around the world has been like taking all the cultural considerations on aboard plus you're catering to a diverse audience. You could even review past NUFC European adventures linked to that country as a bit of a throwback before a hopeful return to the European days!
  23. Some really good suggestions in here. I really like the thoughts of local businesses having the opportunity around food or drink, although probably should stay away from themes like " French Day" as can only see that going one way... The Fans Forum is a must to return and arguably has to given the need for the club to engage with fans and calls around transparency. I'd bin off the fan sponsor challenge at half time and bring back youth getting a 5 minute chance to show off (maybe link into the Foundation for participants to get opportunity to have a small kick about on the pitch). 100% half time hero needs to return - always used to be a boost and some learning about those players from 60/70s who made appearances. Is it worth adding a poll to this with some of the suggestions which have cropped up as might get more members see then vote so if you do put anything forward you're putting forward something that a few people have an interest in? If you go down the anonymous moniker for NO route you'd probably be onto something, worked a treat under umbrella movements like AshleyOut as more of a collective and less likely to have "a face". You also take away the narrative and subjective opinion i.e. if Luke Edwards wrote it then I already think it's not going to be very good because of xyz. Obviously goes without saying they would need to be vetted (no SaudiMags4Life movements)...
