  1. Bassong did well again there. Poor touch from Martins before.
  2. 'Was Duff tugged there? Hes kept hold of it' then hits it 30 yards back into our half!
  3. Bassong did well against Malouda there. Martins does nothing, not even closing down, looks half arsed.

    Players in public

Saw him today doing the exact same thing you mention.
  5. Forget the scapegoat bollocks, he looks on edge & out of his depth but the lad is still the by a mile the best player to play left back for the club atm. Jonas & Duff dont help either full back that much. Duff goes inside & then goes missing. While Jonas just f***s off to any flank he feels like not bothering to wait till Duff is ready to shift flanks, which means a full back is exposed 2 against 1 at times. Prime example of Duff going missing was in the first half when Martins had the ball and he ran inside, forcing Martins to turn into trouble. Jonas will run all day and can beat his man, but he always looks like he is willing to topple after initial contact. Another thing I will mention is that Enrique looks to play a killer ball or incisive ball, but you see so many player playing the pedestrian ball so they don't make the mistake. I think because not everyone of Enriques passes comes off (his switching of the play in the second half which just went out) it looks worse. Whereas 9/10 of Duff's or Butt's sideways balls will reach his man.
  6. Given 6 Enrique 5 (N'Zogbia 6) Coloccini 6 Bassong 6 Beye 6 Duff 5.5 Barton n/a (Guthrie 5) Butt 5 Jonas 6 (Owen 6) Martins 6.5 Ameobi 6
  7. I think Enrique gets a hard time from fans who see him as the scapegoat of the defence along with Taylor. He doesnt always hit his man with every pass, but how often did the player infront of him move away from their marker creating space for a pass? He is strong and is rarely outmuscled, but sometimes he can get done for pace. I still rate him and hope that he will progress with us. Seb Bassong had a good game today aswell, nonesence defender who is strong and has an ability to read the game.
  8. I've saw the penalty after I got in from work a few times and firstly Johnson nudges Cacapa in the back, which could have been a free kick and Johnson goes over before there is any contact. He always seems to win penalties.
  9. Levante don't iirc. 'Newcastle sent us an e-mail with regards..' can't remember the players name during the summer.
  10. Just back from the game and I liked the fact that Bennett riled the crowd as the atmsophere would generally go up a notch. From my seat, Barton booking looked like he won the ball, but my dad told me he went in with his studs so I can understand getting a booking. However, Oba Martins got takn out after the ball had gone and Bennett didn't even have a word with the Villa player causing Martins to stupidly get himself booked. Then Ameobi is booked for a foul on Laursen, but then Laursen doesn't get booked for a blatant similar foul on Ameobi, explain that! HTT has already mentioned the referee and liesman giving opposite decisions like when Jonas played the ball out off a Villa player and we were given the throw in by the linesman, but Bennett gave it to Villa. The first half as well when Barton was taken out and Villa got the free kick, it made no sense at all! Onto the performance and I thought we did very well, although Villa had chances. Agbonlahor missed a gilt edged opportunity, really should have scored. Martins took his first goal well rolling the defender with ease, but Jonas deserved the applause for his excellent ball and perfectly weighted ball for goal 2. Ameobi was my MotM, a super battling performance and if Oba anticipated the ball getting flicked on or played through he would get more chances. Given pulled off a great save from Young, but wasn't really tested after that. Coloccini looked superb, excellent tackling and heading ability. Taylor had a good game, but went on a walkabout for a couple of minutes second half. Enrique and Beye were great. Midfielder did well in the battle with Villa with Reo-Coker non existent and Barry average.
  11. I could see where kingdawson was coming from originally, but Nixon has made the point I was going to. Ability will differ from person to person and so will technical attributes, so a player may be better at a full volley than a half volley and thinks that it is easier to do it vice versa. Personally, when I played in the younger leagues and tried to use the through ball, 9 times out of 10 none of the other lads would run in behind the defenders and therefore it looked a stupid pass. If you hit a volley straight on you know that it will be a sweet goal.
  12. I think a half volley is easier to execute accurately than a full volley. Although the way Bentley cushioned the ball made it easier to strike it, taking the 'sting' out of the ball, before striking the ball. I know that when you catch a strike sweetly you certaintly feel better about it and goals which epitomise this is are Shearer's vs Everton and Aston Villa.
  13. West Brom are a good passing side, everything else they are well below par. The pass leading to their goal was the most incisive of the game, but they don't do it often enough and ultimately they will go down as they can't defend either. When they signed Zuiverloon I thought it was a good deal, but he often got caught out and rarely tackled our players. Ryan Donk had the audacity to claim a dive aswell, my word, one of the most stonewall penalties we have saw at SJP this season (and there has been a few!). I can see why Oba and Jonas were taken off, just coming back from injury and it was no surprise to see a few players tire in the second half. Granted we should have forced WBA to play the ball aorund more in their own half, I am happy with the 3 points and moving up the league. Shola had a decent game, still think he gets more stick because of who he is and that if Martins did a few of his errors he would get light applause rather than scorn. Coloccini couldn't have stopped the ball for their goal and in recent games has looked very accomplished, whereas Taylor is still brash in his play: Tackle on Miller right on the edge of the area, trying to play offside and letting Morrison through on goal just a few to name.
  14. Week 8 results - Udinese 3-1 Roma (Roma really need to stregthen in January, hovering one point above the relegation zone) Lazio 0-1 Napoli (F. Santacroce one to watch) Atalanta 0-1 Milan Inter 0-0 Genoa (Surprising result) Juventus 1-0 Torino (Juve undefeated in the derby since 1995) Palermo 1-3 Fiorentina
  15. Stake/returns? Seems a reasonable bet. Only £3.50 as I didn't put money into the account and just bet with what was left. If it comes off, it will net me around £200.
  16. Just having a look at my account and forgot I had put a bet on that Inter Milan, Anderlecht, Celtic, Lyon, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich would win their leagues. I put it on in July and have decided to check the leagues so far and... Lyon are top of Ligue 1, but could move down if Marseille win. Inter are top by a point ahead of Catania, but have a game in hand. Celtic are top by 3 points, but Rangers could go level if they win the game in hand. Anderlecht are top, but again only on GDand Standard could go top if they win. Bayern are 4th, 3 points off top spot. Real Madrid are 5th, with a game in hand which could take them to joint 1st.
  17. I think we will see a few changes for the West Brom game, purely because a lot of the players will have played 2 full game ins a short space of time. Will Butt be ready in time or Barton step in? Owen available?
  18. Did anyone see the scrap on the TV just after the final whistle when it showed the Mackems leaving the field and one take a few hits before running away from a Toon fan, then after the police chased the Newcastle fan, the Mackem then decided he would go after him?

  20. He has a cast on and was on crutches, mabe he cant put weight on his foot? Zamblera has changed appearance.
  21. Great save at one end and a well (lucky) placed strike by Pepe to make it 2-0 to Udinese. Counter attacking at its best.
  22. I think he has retired from playing, but looking to take up coaching. He was mentioned when West Ham sacked Curbishley that he was taking his qualifications and how he would like to manage the club. I'm just watching the Udinese game against Tottenham and I have to say although Tottenham are playing poorly, the ease with which Udinese are breaking through is shocking. Inler is having a good game, strong and domineering when charging forward. Di Natale has looked dangerous when attacking the goal and Sanchez was having a decent game until being taken off just now. Bale is having a terrible game, deliveries are poor and passing is error filled.
