"PSG, meanwhile, also suspended striker Amara Diane after he failed to turn up for pre-season training on Monday." BBC A snippet from their Digard story, but Le Parisien have an interview with him on their site ( http://www.leparisien.fr/home/sports/actu/articles/AMARA-DIANE-ATTAQUANT-DU-PSG-JE-NE-REVIENDRAI-PLUS-M-ENTRAINER_298604324 ). He has confirmed that he is leaving PSG. He has already said goodbye to his team mates and the club said it will let him leave for €5m, but now want €3m more. However, Newcastle may not be his destination as Al-Rayyan had agreed €5m with PSG, but now PSG want more (€8m). Diane has verbally agreed to join Al-Rayyan.

Newcastle are interested in Boulahrouz according to the Telegraph. If it were to come off I'm undecided as he didn't look comfortable in the Chelsea backline and he still seems to be brash (similar to Taylor, but Taylor has time to learn).

fair comment, didnt i see that french lad has gone on loan from ac milan to bourdeaux? gourcuff right? very highly rated for a few years but not getting a look in and still young identifying and trying to sign players like that makes sense, more sense than offering the likes of damien duff 70k a week Quaresma is probably the biggest example that I can think of and now it looks like Europe's finest will try and sign him again this summer.

€11m for him as well! Lillian Thuram has joined PSG on a one year deal for around €55,000 a week. PSG are also going to increase their offer of €5m for Vincenzo Iaquinta after Juventus rejected the offer. It remains to be seen if this ends the Jimmy Briand move to PSG. Sessegnon is very close to signing for PSG, after agreeing a contract, both clubs are close to agreeing a fee for him. First it was Lampard, then it was Drogba and now it could be Malouda who will join Mourinho at Inter Milan.

Its been reported in Gazzetta as well, but is basically a copy and paste of the C4 story which is from another Italian site. A little extra I think was this part in Gazzetta: "A lot of clubs contacted me (Ahmet Bulut) about him, but his value has risen and he only wants the best move."

I got 40/1 on Turkey before the tournament, they went to 66/1 after the Portugal defeat, but I'm hoping they go all the way. However, with injuries and suspensions I can see Germany winning by a good margin. Spain and Russia will be the better game imo.

Le Parisien is reporting that he will sign for Middlesbrough in the next few hours. The transfer fee will be €5 million and the player himself expects everything to be tied up early this week, he is awaiting final confirmation from PSG on the deal.

Galatasary want Diané The Ivory Coast international wants to leave the Parisian club and PSG have set his price at €10 million (£7.9m), but Galatasaray are ready to put in an offer of €8 to 10 million for Diané! The two clubs must meet over the weekend.

According to El Mundo Deportivo Barcelona are interested in Gomis as well. Didn't he say he preferred to play in Spain?

Alan Mullery couldn't believe it, either could I tbh, when the fourth went in on SSN. Newcastle 4-0 Tottenham - Two thunderbolts from a certain Laurent Robert. Tottenham 2-3 Newcastle - Obafemi Martins scoring a pearler and then Butt scoring almost straight after. Man United 4-1 Newcastle (FA Cup Semi) - The atmosphere was unbelievable, shame about the result, but NUFC fans won the off field game.

PSG: Diané wants to leave Amara Diané is not happy and PSG know it. Troubled to see them try to block it by claiming 10 million Euros for his transfer, the Ivory Coast international has lost patience. "This is the end with Paris. I too am disappointed by the attitude of Paul Le Guen. I know since a long time that it no longer counts on me". Amara Diané is coveted by Qatar, but he does not desire to leave Europe.

http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=743813 When asked by Portuguese sports website Record.pt about a possible future at Real Madrid, he replied, "The possibilities are great, but as we have seen it does not depend on me. "Over the coming days we'll see if we can reach an agreement." "I have many desires. Over the coming days, we'll have news," he smiled. Speculation will mount further after the player himself confirmed that he now has a firm command of the Castellano language. "I can speak Spanish," he said. "And I'm always practicing English and French."

?? The title says that he is signing for Newcastle after they offered PSG €6 million. However, its just a re-hash from the English press. Nothing new unfortunately, although I thought he went to Boro?

Stéphane Sessegnon and PSG have agreed terms, they are just waiting on the two clubs to reach an agreement. It is hoped the deal will be tied up early next week. Also, the article finishes saying that even if there was other clubs interested, PSG showed the most interest.

This was a later story that says talks between the two clubs could start in the coming days.

Jimmy Briand from Rennes to PSG is a possible deal, but Amara Diané will not be joining a club in Ligue 1. "If I must leave the club, it will be abroad. I want to remain here, but if they no longer want of me, they will not transfer me where I do not want to go." "I have had contact with a good Premier League club, they won't send me to Rennes."

I was reading a bit on a Lazio forum and they seem to be split on his signing. Some are not happy with it and and would have preferred different players coming in as he hasn't proved a lot. Others are happy with the deal, a good purchase at €4million, as Rozehnal is part of a strong Czech Republic backline and was one of the best defender in Ligue 1 for two years.

Samuel Eto'o has closed the door on a move to Tottenham, but is open to a move to Inter Milan. However, he stressed that he was under contract at Barcelona till 2010. He said "Tottenham, with no offence to the English fans, I want more." (loosely translated).

Amara Diane *thread heads in new direction*
-
I can remember reading that they paid a fee to loan him, but can't remember how much we would get for him if he signed permantently. As far as this move goes for Newcastle, I think he wasn't going to get a look in if he stayed and to get him (a) off the wage bill and (b) to receive a fee for him is a a good move.Of course his comments about Newcastle won't have endeared him to some fans so I thought it would be logical for him to move on, although surprisingly its Lazio after failing to make a major impact there.

Luke McCormick the Plymouth goalkeeper.
-
Who? Eren Derdiyok, 6ft 3 striker who is 19 nearly 20. He plays for FC Basle and is in the Switzerland squad for Euro 2008. SwissMag will have probably seen him play. He has said that he would love to play alongside Owen.

what do you know of the player Dave to trumpet such support for him .... ? Along with such a transfer policy in general ? In case you haven't noticed - and not just you - my comments are all aimed at the transfer policy in general, or what it appears to be so far, not this particular player. I know you sincerely think this "new system" will succeed, being the supposed opposite of the old direction that you despised because you despised the people, but I'm afraid the way to success is through spending and bringing in the top players just like all the other successful clubs in history. Don't know how many times I have to say this, but Alex Ferguson has been at Old Trafford for over 20 years, if it were possible to win these trophies by hunting around for pompey-type transfer dealings, then he would have gone that way by now. This has always been the case. If the club operates a "sell to buy" policy, you will all be bleating your heads off in a few years time when the penny drops. I haven't seen Amara Diané play before, but by looking at his statistics (38 games/11 goals) and his age (25) it seems he would be an economical purchase. Newcastle couldn't go out now and pay £10 - 15m on more than one player in my opinion as it wouldn't be financially viable. Also, you mention trophies and Pompey-type dealings, would that not be the club who won a trophy this year and now have European football to look forward to next season? Newcastle haven't always had the best of luck with big money signings, look at Albert Luque! blimey. an "economical purchase". wtf is that supposed to mean ? I find it quite sad that so many people have lowered their expectations in the past year. Shown by the fact that because Portsmouth are now about to play in european competition for the first time ever in their history, you have now convinced yourself they have had a better last 16 years than us and are now a bigger, better and more attractive club into the bargain. An economical purhcase in my opinion would be one that doesnt cause too much of a dent in the wage bill or transfer budget. I read the last part of your comment as if you were trying to convince yourself that your right. I would say that Portsmouth are probably a more attractive option than Newcastle for now. Also, Newcastle were better than Portsmouth in the 90's and early 2000's, but stupid management appointments from the old board sorted that out. Of course expectation are going to be lower! We were challenging for the top in 2003 and are now mid table, in fact I think people would be complaining of over expectation if I actually thought we would get into the Champions League this season. I would love for Newcastle to be near the top beating Man Utd and Chelsea etc, but realistically its not going to happen straight away.
