  1. i think we should all wait and see how the movement is in the next few games HBA plays tbh i've always had a suspicion that pardew instructs some players to hold their ground to cover him when he goes off on his runs for obvious reasons (obvious to pardew)
  2. that's funny like, 'cause when he was shit and other people were saying what ronaldo is saying just now he was busy telling everyone that tiote wasn't a footballer - would like to see these posts where he was advocating a selective role for him 'cause i really don't recall any
  3. agreed aye EDIT: agreed with ronaldo, that is
  4. what do you mean, instead of debuchy we should have signed a more solid RB who didn't necessarily need as much assistance?
  5. hang on then so he's not shit, he just doesn't have what you look for in a midfielder? that makes more sense then, glad you can admit he's not shit, fair play to you
  6. what bothers me about your opinion is that you won't accept that external factors may have had a major influence on him looking so shit, he's just shit and that it
  7. that really is a fair point mind
  8. yeah he did look poor, i agree, but he was still causing them problems until the tactical changes by bruce... as always with these things (such as the tiote thread) i'm sure it was a combination of factors in the hull game but it's equally absurd to ignore the actual football match and just say he was shit that day, didn't look like a footballer
  9. couple of gems from judge ronaldo here should be a nice graph charting people's overestimation of his ability, his preposterous nosedive in form and people's overreactions to that, vs. his actual level...was always going to be able to regain some sort of form doing what he's good at and using his physical attributes correctly mind you, i did suggest they should lock him up and throw away the key for his driving licence charge

    Loïc Remy

    quite an understatement that
  11. unless i was watching something different elliotman HBA was fine for about the first 15 minutes or so of the hull game, carried on pretty well from villa i thought...after we scored bruce shut our entire right side down and ben arfa was completely crowded out for the rest of the match as santoon rightly says pardew should have either been able to exploit this extra attention elsewhere in our team or move ben arfa to get him away from the attention, it was laughable what he was being expected to beat that day, stood no fucking chance and his manager didn't help in the slightest i also thought that day that neither HBA nor remy provided cover to their fullbacks, remy maybe a little more, but it seemed tactical to me to an extent like pardew wanted an actual front 3
  12. i still feel there's too much standing still when he has the ball, it's not as bad as it was but our movement is certainly not what it is when he's not in the team imo whether they think he's going to just do it all on his own anyway so why bother, or whether it's a natural reaction to him being on the ball and usually doing it on his own i don't know but it needs coaching out of them...when he has the ball, especially in tight home games, we have ensure there are at least 2 players getting beyond him and moving their defence around
  13. oh well, someone to cheer for a loss for then
  14. russia aren't in the world cup are they?
  15. so what should we discuss in the pardew thread then, his current choice of fashion accessories?
  16. against villa away was HBA not carrying the ball halfway up the pitch on his own when he had space to run at? seem to recall that happening - he struggles when he's crowded out, against spurs i don't think he would have been sissoko had the legs to support him...that would have been the sub for me instead of obertan, get hba running with the ball vs their full back and sissoko tasked with supporting him to take the pass / drag defenders out of his way so he's got a one on one - the rest of the team set up to make this a viable attacking option and keep shape but these are things you have to work on in training with a clear goal about what you're trying to achieve, it has to be drilled into them, it's very clear that we just don't do that so let's stick obertan on instead 'cause he's dead fast and that
  17. what makes you think anyone didn't enjoy it? because we won do we have to pretend it was flawless?
  18. isn't this the crux? the fact that he probably should be but is being 'prevented' from doing so by our shit manager, his terrible tactics and being left out of the team for gabriel obertan? that's my view on the HBA thing, players don't perform in isolation to what's going on around them, especially not flair players like HBA So, this mercurial talent, with a vast history of inconsistency, only ever plays badly because of his manager. How does he ever play well? well i've already addressed this haven't i? but you know that...his age, apparent focus, team ethic and of course the fact that there's a world cup coming suggest to me the lad had what it takes to succeed now where in his younger years he was maybe more of a little arsehole holding himself back i'll refer you to the hull game again....he's crowded out by 2-3 everytime he gets the ball, that's where your manager has to come in and make changes to either open up the space for him or use his being crowded out to open up the game for the team our manager did neither and rarely does He was shite against Hull, but he wasn't the only one. He'd been unplayable in the games before it, under a similar amount of pressure from the opposition. People haven't suddenly realised that he's quite good this season. Players can have bad games, and experience poor form. As long as he comes back from that (in a period where we went on to record fantastic results), what's the problem? liverpool he was deployed as some sort of fucking striker playing with his back to goal man that's not a loss in form nor is having to face up to an entire hull defence and not being able to beat them prior hull he'd ripped villa to shreds and was under nowhere near the same pressure he was vs hull and liverpool you seem to take his performances in total isolation from the team and the tactical approach that the manager employs for some reason, that doesn't make sense cue "i didn't say that, would never say that" type bollocks...you're saying it by implication in failing to link his "drop" in performance (right at the time he was in amazing form mind ) with anything that the other team or his own manager might do

  20. i don't think anyone is staunchly anti-pardew either, to the point of being stubborn about the man - spudil has made very valid points about the last 2 games tbh but they're just glossed over for some reason we're analysing 2 good results and comparing that with our previous performances under pardew, some people are ignoring the validity of the concerns (as they did when we were almost relegated) and choosing to shout it down as negativity you improve at anything by looking at where it is you can improve, not by saying "that was mint eh" and putting your fucking feet up

  22. Ugh. Fucking sanctimonious drivel. 'Bro' in there, too. #legend Nothing to do with his post tbh. Why don't you try to discuss the very valid points he makes?
  23. Spudil nails it there like.
