delighted for him, would have been mortified if we'd conceded...love owt like that me

i understand HBA, i really do, but when anita is on the pitch we're a much better passing team and can hold the ball better which is important against teams like spurs...if we turn possession over to them too often they'll bury us early imo no sense leaving anita out, none whatsoever

Football's greatest - where does Lionel Messi rank?

is it a year end award or season end? if it's year end ronaldo's current form might influence matters somewhat should he keep it up -

win the CL with him actually doing something meaningful in the final probably This is one of the worst ways to make a point I've ever seen on here, by the way. While we're at it for Shearer to be considered our best striker of modern times he'll have to have scored more goals than Jackie Milburn. what the fuck are you on about man? -

no, i meant now, because since ronaldo joined real whenever ronaldo has done something amazing it's almost always been bettered by messi or at least put in the shade by him being instrumental in barca winning something important hard to see messi overturning 10 goals on ronaldo this season anyway but for people to say ronaldo is "better", which was the question, i think he'll literally have to score more goals than him and win the CL might not be fair but there it is, imo -

'Cause unless you're 4 years old you missed something major in 2008. the fuck has 2008 got to do with it? EDIT: because i assume that hughesy's question was related to the here and now considering the season ronaldo is having and dip in form of messi....i could be wrong like, maybe he was actually wondering who was really better in two thousand and fucking eight -

Ben Arfa has been dropped because he has provided nothing at all in his last few matches and probably been one of the worst players. If he was tearing teams apart, like we know he is capable of doing, he would start even if he sat down and started tying his boots every time the other team had the ball. Even when Ben Arfa "tracks back" (runs around aimlessly in our end, completely lacking the mentality or skill to actually defend) he isn't that helpful as a defender. imo ben arfa has spent most of his time here being our only creative outlet and while our general play as a team has improved he's not adapted to this at all and changed his own game, last couple of times i saw him when he got the ball he was still trying to do it all by himself regardless of the situation whether this is an ego thing or something that needs working on i don't know but for me the workrate thing isn't the biggest issue...what he needs to do is adapt fast to retaining the ball, laying it off to a team mate and making himself available for the pass again then he'll be able to pick his moments to attack rather than just go headlong at it every time he gets the ball...it's easier to defend against someone that does the same thing every time - his style also probably lends itself to our players standing and watching him more than they do when he's not on the pitch 'cause they also know what he's likely to do in most cases unless he's dead set against playing that way i'm sure it could be ironed out in training

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition
mrmojorisin75 replied to OzzieMandias's topic in Football
said it before, will say it again, how fucking hard would it be for leading federations like England, Germany, Spain etc. to get together and decide they're just not having it? tell FIFA they'll not participate unless it's moved to another country or they manage to sort out how to play games in the heat safely fuck FIFA, it's about time they were brought down to earth...this seems the perfect opportunity, no-one seems to care however -
so that was a fucking dive right?

The league is wide open for teams outside the top 6 this season if they can show a bit of consistency. The ones who make better use of their resources are more likely to finish closer to the top 6, so Southampton will probably be one of them. We could finish anywhere from 9th to 15th IMO.

Not allowed to hope for more. we'll win the FA cup

Me too. sorry boys, thought i'd have been proved wrong by now but i only have "he exists ergo he must be good" to go on...i'll walk away in abject defeat You're asking for statistics from a position that doesn't rely on statistics to prove worth. It's not the job of DMs to create chances, because by nature, they're not meant to be in a position on the field in which to do so. They're tasked with snuffing out attacks, maintaining possession, and providing a connection between midfield and defense. this is balls deuce, i find it amazing tbh but we've been asked to stop so let's stahp

no it's not, 99% of the time it needn't be but there have to be times where the guy earns it, where he dominates an opponent, makes interceptions that win the game, etc. mikel does none of it, he does fucking nowt wish i could find assist & key tackle stats for him but i can't

john obi mikel of keepers

I have to agree with what Mike said. Mikel has started on 3 FA Cup- and 1 Champions League-winning Chelsea squads, and played a key role in squads that won a league title, the Europa, and another FA Cup. He's clearly done well enough to register 35+ appearances for Chelsea each year since 06/07. i said he's fucking pointless it's obvious that he's just been coasting along in a team packed with quality players worth milliions, never being shite, never being great, never needing replacing because everyone around him has done the business while he lumbered around i'm still waiting for one, ONE quality performance that anyone remembers from the lad
