  1. says everything about our country really that we feel football is the only option for it, there's surely to fuck a more sensible option but then again if the 200m isn't coming from da government but from private companies who gives a fuck, at least it'll provide jobs
  2. is this right, it cost 300m to build which is of course believable, but that there's gonna be another 200m spent converting it to a football stadium now?
  3. these yanks don't have that link with rafa though, and i reckon they 100% made their bed with rogers - he'll get 3 years minimum come what may, they'd have to have a season as bad as ours to consider binning him imo
  4. kind of reflects how i felt about the youngsters thing this season, they already lacked exposure to first team football that they should have been getting when things were better but it really felt like they were just plucked from obscurity and thrown on expected to do something to me then he tore them apart in public for it
  5. still say you could probably coach being an effective striker into obertan myself given the right circumstances, as it is we should really be looking for a buyer ASAP he's a waste of skin and wages for us now really
  6. yeah, i've really taken to him myself...looks like the player we thought obertan would be
  7. good post colinmk, agree with all of it, another thing is that for the first time since the keegan fiasco i think we'd actually be able to draw some interest from very good managers myself ashley seems to have more or less proven that the carroll sale was not the start of us selling anyone decent at the first sign of a bid, which many managers would find reassuring i reckon
  8. they'd possibly be my 3 too, assuming tiote can stop being fucking horrible for a while tiote cabs-anita hba sissoko cisse or perhaps cabs-anita sissoko hba gouffran cisse think i maybe prefer the latter
  9. 'cause they started the game without an orthodox striker didn't they? anyway i just meant they had a plan that was clearly worked on in training, played to their strengths and everyone was well drilled in it and knew what they should have been doing....granted we had that last year but it's easier to have a defined plan when that plan is defensively grounded as ours was
  10. spurs game was interesting to me, honestly bale aside i don't think there's much between us now on paper but when they got the ball they had a very clear and defined way of playing to utilize their pace and break on us with purpose and speed...as well as we played that game it was glaringly obvious we were nowhere near that and personally i don't think we ever will be with pardew the obvious retort is that he's just got the new players and it'll take time to develop to play like spurs play but he's spent 2 years playing the opposite of that game and as others have said there are signs he seems to think using sissoko as a battering ram is a good idea...i just don't think he's a "football" manager, it's not in his nature
  11. see this needles me a bit, there's no assumption going on if you ask me - when things went his way he was ok, better than ok if you like but things didn't go his way this season and he literally, literally had no answer...if ashley had chosen to gamble in january there is no doubt in my mind we'd have gone down tooj just made a good point about a lack of play/impetus and now we're just expecting sissoko to run at people and something to happen...same as it was with ba when we'd hoy it up and hope he could make something happen alone...don't get me wrong again we've looked better overall of late but there are still precious few signs of visible development for me, just better players on the pitch
  12. Was that your opinion last season as well? last season his deficiencies were masked by a lack of injuries (meaning a stable team but most importantly defence) and 2 strikers scoring on runs at exactly the right time meaning in effect we had a 30 goal striker in the team...don't get me wrong he did a lot to commend last season and overall it was a success but some of us were pointing out that it couldn't last and it didn't could not agree more with SanToon on pardew, can't comment on southampton Put it better than I did. I think the effect of Ben Arfa's individual brilliance, Ba/Cisse's goals, Cabaye's influence, and Krul being at his best was key. Like you say he did a lot last season that was good, however this season has shown up his huge limitations. The squad we have is brilliant imo, but they look so devoid of any sort of tactical plan/style of play its scary. Anita is the perfect example for me, I genuinely don't think Pardew knows what to do with a player like him. That worries me. yep, all my thoughts exactly....now that he's been handed 4 new first team players and LB cover on a plate we're suddenly not looking so shit but i still feel he's making little decisions that are ultimately wrong and they're all based in his ultra-cautious nature and approach, anita/jonas being a prime example for me we'll be alright next season assuming we stay (which is still not a done deal let's be honest) but i don't expect a repeat of a CL challenge or anything myself, he's not got the balls or ability for it imo

  14. agree, always thought he'd be ideal for cabaye as it'd help cabaye push further up the pitch where he's a bigger influence imo i mean thinking about it, as has been said, the fact that jonas has been starting ahead of him on form is a load of shite really but pardew got 2 results out of 3 so hard to complain too much
  15. didn't mean as his only role, just meant that'd be part of his role in the squad...santon now has cover with the new lad and personally if debuchy is out i'd like to see anita there instead of taylor or someone of course his primary position should be CM, probably starting CM imo
  16. suppose he might also be the ultimate debuchy cover when simpson goes like wouldn't be too upset with that as an option actually
  17. citeh man, what a load of shit..they should start by overhauling mancini ffs
  18. is he physical enough to be a pardew midfielder though is the question i ask myself, might end up out of favour by default
  19. my word this had slipped to page 3 of the forum!! feel for this lad personally, imo any other manager than pardew and he'd be on the teamsheet at the moment as tiote is an accident waiting to happen poor fucker slogs through the horror story that was the first half of our season, we start playing football suited to him and he's binned
  20. really looking forward to seeing him in a team with gouffran, sissoko and cisse like ever since he came here he's been more or less the only creative player on the pitch for us, he was largely easy to crowd out 'cause the opposition knew they didn't really have to worry about jonas or whoever huffing and puffing his way to a goal if they let him go put 2 men on HBA and you've now still got three other fuckers who can damage you and cabaye pulling the strings
