  1. bearing in mind they only really know yank sports i wouldn't rule it out myself
  2. one of my favourite things with pardew, even down to letting people return from injuries and so on - i thought he didn't fancy ferguson for ages but he was probably just giving him plenty of time to recover we've not seen a lot of that in the past, managers (inc. keegan) have always pushed players back and thrown them in as long as i've been watching brave from pardew tbh

  4. agree, again same principle if you're the best boxer you'd have no problem beating 5 other fighters for the right to defend your title would you? there should be some fucking prestige and status that comes with winning the WC and honestly that should include the automatic right to defend it, it's as simple as that
  5. although carr isn't a DoF his influence is as massive at NUFC now and he's a great example of how it can work in the english game imo....he's the man when it comes to identifying what the manager wants but he doesn't seem to dictate anything to the manager as pardew is clearly in charge of 1st team affairs a large part of that will be down ego and the fact carr isn't a massive name and wasn't a massive manager - having 2 people like AVB & van Gaal is just a recipe for disaster, it'll come to a head eventually if that's the route the go down over here the manager still holds all the cards, if the DoF or whatever it's called is a challenge to that in any way it'll fail imo
  6. same, wasn't happy when they changed the WC tbh - load of s**** that when someone wins the heavyweight boxing championship they don't have to fight their way back to be able to defend it - that's the point of winning it in the first place is it ? i always thought the point was so whoever could say they are the best. i never knew people won titles in order to get qualification for next time round. well it's to get to the top, to be the best is what i mean...it should be up to other teams (or boxers using the example) to dethrone you not for you to have to start at the beginning again to prove yourself
  7. same, wasn't happy when they changed the WC tbh - load of shite that when someone wins the heavyweight boxing championship they don't have to fight their way back to be able to defend it - that's the point of winning it in the first place
  8. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/22/louis-van-gaal-liverpool i honestly don't think any of this is going to end well for liverpool...they're going to have to have a massive slice of incredible luck to pick a manager that will make this shambles work imo
  9. Ho do we rate him compared to mbiwa, vertonghen and douglas?
  10. What's the point? He's never fit anyway. literal play as you play deal wouldn't be so bad for a season imo
  11. this season has proven one thing: results matter pr is frippery and bullshit at the end of the day
  12. mourinho has now won titles in portugal, england, italy & spain - has any other manager equalled or bettered this?
  13. man, i quite like that shirt the more i see it...up close maybe not i guess
  14. i don't mind that barca kit, reckon it'll be a grower and will look canny at distance/on the telly etc
  15. reebok should move away from existence, fucking terrible brand
  16. i don't recall saying they were morally equivalent
  17. Weekend at Bernies' Kieron Dyer from yesterday's fiver
  18. interesting case for me this, police/prosecutors would be setting a massive precedent if he goes down for it like seems pretty clear he'll be found guilty surely?
  19. Bale is definitely off imo. Can see City going in for him actually... if so spurs should demand adam johnson and cash, it'd be a good deal for them tbh
  20. i'd normally have agreed with you, but i increasingly get the feeling there's nothing liverpool are going to be able to do to stop this decline assuming it's martinez i think he'll need time, can't see him coming in and turning it around instantly...time he might not get
  21. why isn't it major? tactically we're limiting ourselves as the opposition should know that showing the FB outside isn't as dangerous as letting him cut in giving yourself more options to hurt the other team should certainly be considered a major thing imo also i didn't see anyone inplying it should trump quality
