  1. it's not his crossing that's the issue anyway, he's not so bad at putting a cross into a decent area imo his problem is his general all round play and ability on the ball when in advanced positions, if he's not passing it backwards or crossing it he seems to be fucked for ideas and the opposition know this
  2. i think he's ok against "lesser" teams than chelsea say where our more talented players can impose themselves and leave him to simply be a defender but in games the likes of saturday he costs you a chance at getting into/back into the game imho as in a tight match like that he's incapable of beating a man or picking a tight pass forward to one of his teammates, the opposition obviously can see this and therefore pressure his side more...hba was up against one of the best lb's in the world supported by another in bertrand and he simply had to try and do it all on his own i'd love to see one of those pass analysis graphs for him vs. chelsea like, i only remember one decent cross from him the entire match and when he hit it thought he was too deep and lacked real options but hit it anyway as he didn't know what else to do (i'm not saying it was that bad like, just seemed that bad)
  3. simpson was fucking horrific at the weekend like, i really hope the people in charge at the club realised what a quality RB could bring to the team and decide to go back in for the lad the age/value thing is all relative, pay (what) 6-8m euros now for him now and get 3-4 quality years out of the lad, the PL being what it is he'd still sell for a decent price age 31 no bother assuming he adapted to the league
  4. i can't pin it down but there's something wrong everytime i've seen us set up 4-4-2, something wrong with the movement throughout the team...i think it stems from the fact that the two CM's are either told to or feel they have to sit deep to protect the defence and this leaves them far too isolated from the attackers resulting in what was termed hoofball last year whenever we switch to 4-3-3 from 4-4-2 the movement seems to come back and pass and move returns as cabaye is usually pushed further on and hba gets involved more anyone think of an occasion we started 4-3-3 and switched back to 4-4-2 'cause it wasn't working? i can't imo for 4-4-2 you have to control the midfield either through physicality or possession and for whatever reason our MF rarely do that when playing 4-4-2
  5. would like to see hba with the movement chelsea offer hazard personally....he can travel with the ball as much as he wants but if the rest of the team remains static as they seem to do he'll always struggle to create, anyone would
  6. If we don't get him, Perch must be first choice RB.
  7. business as usual vs these cunts then simpson behind ben arfa is a total disaster, it's never been highlighted to me as much as in this game...every pass is either backwards or long 'cause he can't do anything else, if he was able to run with it (or pick a pass) like santon it'd open up space for hba to exploit hba has looked class when he's on the ball but lacks options anita and cabaye in CM were always going to get overran imo....needed a 3, shame about tiote keep the score down pls, try and nick one back and make them nevry even, don't get buttfucked

Depends how you spend it, doesn't it? We've got plenty of people on here who would qualify this transfer window a failure for our club unless Ashley brings out his wallet and splashes some cash. I don't think they've necessarily spent badly; they've brought in the best they reasonably can get with their club profile and UK based transfer strategy courtesy of Martin O'Neill. yeah our strategy is simply not comparable to theirs, they're playing shepherd-ball still in a way...but at the end of the day these two signings have improved them on the pitch, there's no arguing about that they'll feel they can challenge for a european spot next season, and rightly so imo if they click and keep people fit

sort of agree with tiotes witch doctor, they've a decent starting side now and one we will need to be very wary of when we play them don't see why they shouldn't get a bit excited about spending some money tbh, makes football exciting as a fan (although we all know how it's likely to end through bitter experience)

i'd say marty has himself a pretty good plan a on paper, albeit a very expensive one, always remember brummie saying the bloke has no plan b whatsoever though...can't see plan a being that hard to stop myself
  11. if true and it's just the dejong money being offered for carroll then i have no issue with it in a sense but would prefer a more mobile CF as has been said, played the right way carroll could be effective in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 though, he has the ability to take it into his feet if it's at the expense of debuchy i'd not be happy all of that said, liverpool will their arses off at it imo
  12. lot of big posts here with plenty of thoughts for me the carroll approach is baffling, assuming that's a deal they're sitting on waiting for liverpool to "fold" i fear they're sadly deluded...didn't rodgers yesterday basically say something like we'd not sell cheaply to newcastle (implying they would elsewhere)? i think they'd rather see him rot than sell to us and hope that deal isn't possibly impacting other targets
  13. my problem with london was always the balance of utter cunts/normal people/great people...was always out of whack wherever i went and met people if you live and work somewhere with a decent balance i see no reason london couldn't be great if you have the money i currently work with a few londoners and they're among the nicest people i've ever met and worked with, then there's another one on a different shift who is a posterboy for london cuntishness but he's outnumbered so it's not so bad on another london(ish) note a mate at work was telling me friends in his street rented their house out for 2 weeks during the olympics, 4-5 bed place in richmond he said....they got 10,000 for the fortnight
  14. let's not kid ourselves here like, ashley runs the club as a calculated gamble where player comings and goings are concerned....so far it's been very successful since promotion but he'll look at 4 first team CB's...3 of them looking very good indeed at the moment and probably consider the gamble not to add another worthwhile...we also signed good of course i'm not saying it's 100% the right approach but it's not far wrong really, what i'd argue he/we should be doing is looking to sign douglas and ship williamson for 1-3m somewhere to balance it out financially and personnel-wise ensuring enough games for everyone
  15. i still can't wrap my head around why no other club from any other league has come in for him at what is frankly a bargain price for a top class RB age 27
  16. hopefully we never have to see saylor for an extended period without colo...that would be his real test
  17. i think perch changed the landscape with his performances last year, made it much less of a necessity to get another CB in...also signing anita means he shouldn't be "as required" to cover in MF meaning hopefully less williamson over the season i wonder if good will end up replacing wiliamson over the course of the next 2 seasons as CB no. 4 as it stands i honestly think the best we can hope for is debuchy in and spend the next 3 months identifying a non-african striker to cover when the lads fuck off to ACoN
  18. colo, saylor & perch are your 3 choices with williamson filling in if 2 of that 3 go tits....i can live with that personally if we allocate the (potential) money for douglas elsewhere just gotsta hope there's no massive injury to any of the 3 like saylor had last year, but to be honest take the best 3 CB's out of any of the teams around us and they'd struggle can see why we're not pursuing douglas myself, hopefully losing him means we get others in place such as debuchy
  19. maybe wengers decided to try and spread the goals around rather than rely on one player, aim for double figures from 4-5 players...not beyond the realms of possibility, won't matter a fuck if they don't tighten up at the back though everyone fucking knows they need a destroyer in midfield and they need one now, in fact they probably need to two but maybe 1+ ramsay and wilshere in midfield with a variation of the multitude of AM's he's got will find a winning formula

    Papiss Cissé

Quoting myself in a way I'd love to see someone stick the Yao face on some shots of Cisse's goals from last season, the one when lobbed Vorm springs to mind and Vorm is looking over his shoulder at the ball going in

    Papiss Cissé

Because last time a team judged one of our strikers off half a premiership season we got £35m. Remember Zaki and his first 3 months in English football, looked like a demi god. If he continues where he left off, he won't be here this time next year that's for sure. Zaki aye Fair point yeah, but his record in Germany was class too. Thought Fergie might well have had a sniff, thankfully not. Some of his finishing last season though
