the games prior to the derby will have as much an effect on it as anything imo, starting with blackburn we have 4 very winnable games out of 5 (inc. the mackems) and if we go into the derby having done well in the previous 4 i think there'll be plenty of daylight between us and we'll be more comfortable going into the game if we lost that first game then struggle in the games up to the derby they'll probably have their tails up and could honestly be ahead of us by that point if things go badly for us...if we're in form going into the game we'll fuckin do them imo, if the pressure's on us to win i don't fancy it that much tbh

agree with what's been said, was blown out of proportion by the media probably but it was symptomatic of how that group of players were at the time and was huge catalyst in souness arriving - the fact that a piece of shit like dyer feels that bad about it should tell you all you need to know about what he did and the effect it had

Is racist abuse still an issue in North East football?

i honestly can't tell if you're trolling again or not, congratulations you' ve morphed into Stu circa 2009-2010 -
love the sunderland bit like, the cynic in me can see see delboy thumbing through "PR for Dummies" 'til he find the football chapter; "When signing any player ensure they are at pains to state they turned down your fiercest rival to choose your club ahead of them"

never went away man, people just started to be more careful where they said it as it became less and less acceptable socially...perhaps people have just stopped giving a shit about being 'caught' i work in the oil game, for example, and i'd estimate that 90%+ of the expats i work with say something racist without a second thought... -
you rule, what're you drinking, gin?

no doubt fair play to you mind, clinging to the buoy of despair in a sea of positivity can't be an easy thing to do

ryman south 7 in 12 for senegal, also very inconclusive

i'm happy enough that the scouting team have seen sufficient to make him a priority target, looks decent on that clip but hard to tell too much from them good goalscoring record in the last few years, it'll also help that Ba is pelting them in and he's not coming in under massive pressure to score from the off

in the piece louise taylor wrote on him she mentioned that maybe he's a step or two ahead of some of our players in terms of his speed of thought when he's on the ball, and lack of movement of players around him i think there's an element of truth in this, perhaps the same goes for cabaye, if we get 2 strong full backs who can get up and down the flanks with ease overlapping hopefully that'll change our approach and allow HBA to get on the ball looking for passes 'cause he's fucking amazing at picking a pass to a runner off the ball i just don't think we have enough of it off the ball just now

We'd just finished 13th on 43 points. Last season we finished 12th on 46 points. This season should see a significant improvement on both fronts. Only took 6 managers, numerous different appointments at board/scouting level, a relegation, an attempted sale, endless national embarrassment, numerous PR disasters, pissing all over the club's tradition atleast twice and whole host of other utterly awful pieces of decision making to get there. Gerrin. 50k + crowds Good manager Team to be proud of Top players Great scouting network Bore hole Great youth development Not too shabby can someone explain the bore hole to me? it's totally passed me by

whatever else happens this season, finishing above liverpool would make it for me

Wouldn't surprise me if we see a transfer request coming in either this or prior to the next transfer window. Why hang around when you're being kept out of the side by someone who looks as inept as Obertan and then the team's utility player. And then to hear the bullshit reasons behind his selections of the two average at best forwards on top of that. correct, i don't think it's overreacting to assume this either - he might have ambitions to play for france in the summer man, might as well go out on loan until the summer rather than put up with this shit much longer it's the fact that it's at home and who it's against that's got me as much as anything, there's simply no justification for it, none
-
to be honest, there really aren't that many Stu, especially for a home game against an average to poor team like QPR still least he didn't singlehandledly win the game vs chelsea so maybe pards is right?

if we're not doing well (hopefully not) i really want the crowd to vociferously start screaming for the fucker to come on like, or indeed just start singing his name from the start
