  1. oh dear lord please tell me he didn't say that
  2. depends on the opposition etc, however at home v wolves is a game where he should start. precisely, he's not shown enough to demand starting every match but he's got to be given more of a chance...at this point i'm starting to wonder if signing him wasn't just an MA gamble to get him cheap and sell him on doesn't seem like there's a plan or a place for him...people can use the injury as an excuse all they like but denying the lad game time isn't how you get anyone over that type of injury, you play them and acknowledge they won't be back to their best right away, surely not playing the lad is just diminishing the chances of his form returning and extending the time when that's likely to happen?
  3. for me if we're talking hba vs. raylor or obertan then it must be hba at home, must be man, away from home i could understand choosing one of the others ahead of him even if i don't agree with it no way either of them should be starting ahead of him at home, particularly against opposition like wolves...anyone thinking otherwise needs to give their head a shake but i would throw in the get out as ronaldo says - if pardew is not choosing him for non-ability related reasons that might influence general morale then maybe, maybe, but he doesn't seem to have been upsetting the apple cart with us much tbh...fwiw i don't think that that's the real reason behind his non-selection either, i think pardew's a pie and chips manager basically and that's the end of it [/Tron]
  4. if he's preparing his team on tired football cliches i hope this weeks pick out the hat is you're only as good as your last game
  5. be interested in what's been spent to topple them by madrid like...not that barca were assembled cheaply by any means but i reckon the spend since guardiola took over barcelona must be immense (not even sure if kaka/ronaldo would even be included in those figures, but take them into account and it'd be madness)
  6. erm aye, we all fucking agree with that, but part of being a football fan is having an opinion on how best the team could achieve that result some people dare to believe that HBA ahead of raylor is one way to head in that direction
  7. looking fully at the squad can someone tell me who the glaring omissions are? people seem to be under the impression that we could drop the old guard and send a squad of bairns out...with the exceptions of oxlade and wilshere (injured of course) who is actually missing that people think should be there? serious question
  8. Ben arfa on par with shola. Fucking ace.
  9. yep, i'm expecting him away like - fee would be interesting, we paid in the region of 5m for him with a broken leg iirc, can see MA wanting to play hardball on that and looking for >10m please not fucking spurs
  10. I agree with every word in your post. I look forward to going to see flair players and the thought of having to watch Ryan Taylor is mind numbing. At least when he's covering for an injury you can justify him getting a game, in this instance you can't. also agreed interesting point that barely readable post from tunisia makes though - how much longer will HBA keep his mouth shut and his head down? past history suggests not much longer
  11. Shearer? british wasn't it? Nah, was the world one until Ronaldo went to Barca. And then Denilson broke it going to Betis Denilson what a man. fuggin depressing how i doubt myself now...i knew it was the world record at the time but 'cause someone else questioned it so did i...my memory is shot to fuck man
  12. shearer was pretty much hated around the country though, someone being the figurehead for a change like that in england would need to be a hugely popular figure imo
  13. bimpy's point is very pertinent imo like
  14. If someone gave him his money back, he'd snap their hands off. That's the saving grace for me that the club is up for sale and always will be, not offocially but if someone offered him his money back he'd take it. He will run the club in a way that will not require further money from him to keep it going and in the meantime, he'll get as much exposure for his baby Sports Direct as he can, whatever the cost. The only good thing from his time here which admittedly will be a big f***ing thing, is we will be self sufficient in terms of the club being debt free to anyone other than the man himself, we'll operate well within our means and will not lose silly money, waste silly money etc. I reckon we could be sold in the next 2 years, the World Cup is up after the Euros and that will spark new interest in buying a footy club. The Arabs would love to buy another PL club but we have always been overpriced. Us and Everton could possibly ba future target for the Arabs, especially with the i realise it's not directly related but at the end of the day on the pitch we're in about as good shape as we've been for the the 20+ years i've been watching us minus 2-3 exceptional seasons of course let's hope hope mike f***s off with his signs eh? Such a simplistic way of looking at things. And anyway i'd say it's mroe than 2 or 3 exceptional seasons. 1994 1995 1996 1997 2002 2003 2004 Maybe 2007 have all been better than this one too. you've scraped 8 seasons from the 20 i referred to as being better than or equal to what we have now, kind of proving my point for me really In fairness, you said you've only seen '2-3' exceptional seasons from us in 20, he's just gone and named 5 or so more And although they were terrible seasons, we have reached our share of semi and cup finals over the years. yeah i underestimated, was an off the cuff remark but he's talking 8 seasons from 20 at a stretch there - the fucking semantics-free point being, bah do i really have to explain the point ffs?

  17. bingo it's not even a fucking choice...it'd be the equivalent of the manyoo board choosing beckham over fergie (sort of)
  18. depends why he was appointed, if it was to win everything immediately then yes...if it was to build for the future then it's fuckin stupid to even talk about it why sign a manager who in his 30's (iirc) with little experience at a club like that if you're not gonna back him long term? if he goes soon they deserve to rot - another of bobby's boys lest we forget
  19. That is a brilliant quote. I actually remember an article in FourFourTwo around that time, probably around 2004/2005 actually when Ronaldinho was at the peak of his powers saying that Messi will be much better than him. Can remember me and my mate laughing it off as ridiculous at the time, I mean Messi looked great the moment he broke into the team but never would you have thought he'd go on to become what he is now. awaits alpal coming along with his insight into this one
  20. there's a reason there's usually an absolute consensus about who the best player is, and there's usually a reason why some bellend is sat on the sidelines throwing insinuations and bullshit stats about to try and prove otherwise messi is the best on the planet, that's the end, numbers don't really matter...and if they did, he has better numbers than anyone else anyway
  21. Agreed. He won't lose his vision, touch or strength on the ball, if anything the first two will probably improve. Once Ronaldo loses his pace, he'll be pretty ineffective at the highest level. Still be strong as an Ox and have that leap/heading ability. He'll be a bully for many years to come. he'll surely move to be a more orthodox number 9? nothing to say he'll lose so much pace mind, he's not had a 'proper' injury yet
