  1. it's been Mike Ashley's plan all along, he saw the long game when others only saw the short - wait 'til sky collapses ala ITV and clubs start going bust, we'll be top of the shitpile probably only going to take another decade of appeals and shit for it to kick in like, but he'll be right in the end
  2. He's playing for them next week.

hoping parsnip turns out to be a lucky manager with some talented players, it's about fucking time we had one
  4. class, according to wiki he doesn't make the senegal squad! hopefully that carries on
  5. granted i'm no officionado on italian football but on 1st october, seriously?

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/pardews-unlikely-lads-flying-high-but-he-cant-win-over-fans-2363834.html this been posted? he obviously comes across better in a positive article such as this but it's nice to see pards not talking a load of shite and actually sounding like a thinker about the game etc.
  7. i was just reading your other post when you said people will look back at what he did and appreciate it and you're right but what does he actually have left to prove as an individual now? everything people pull out on him he ends up achieving, how many times have we heard he "can't play against english teams", "hasn't scored in england", "doesn't turn up in big games", "can play as a winger but can't dominate games" etc. etc. he shits on all of them, so the only thing left to level at the lad is argentina and it's a poor argument given the 2 WC managers he's had...iirc he was alright last world cup, better than alright actually, but maradona lacked any expertise whatsoever to exploit that and push on imo given his age he can't be deemed the all time best yet, but if he does it for another 5 years or so he will be
  8. that there should have seen the end of anyone even discussing this shit with you, fucking idiotic
  9. some of us have, plenty don't want to hear it though...cronaldo in the same boat, is he expected to carry portugal to a WC before he can be considered "great"
  10. and yet he's 20th in the all time spanish league top scorers (wiki)
  11. Surely that'd be more accurately phrased as "a very narrow view that Shepherd would spend money [he didn't have] on established players to try and keep us looking like a big club, on that he was 100% on the money as it appears Ashley burnt his fingers during that first season and will never do this again" i should have put quote marks around "quality" obviously, and didn't ashley spend about 10m in his first season? not exactly shepherd-esque
  12. god, remember NE5's be careful what you wish for jive? and then when he started being proven right... feels like we're back on the other side of that whole argument but now ashley is in the freddy seat, problem is there's no-one in the ashley takeover seat He hasn't been proven right for me. There was a very real chance of us going down under Shepherd and there was no way he could have afforded to bring the players in that we did on Allardyces arrival, or plough any of his own money in if we ever got into difficulties further down the line. Added to that, we now have a squad and staff that I have a hell of a lot more faith in than the one he left us with, and I think we'd actually have more to worry about when it comes to any prospective new owner than we did back then imho. aye but his point was always about ambition wasn't it? a very narrow view that shepherd would spend money on quality players to try and get us challenging at the top, on that he was 100% on the money as it appears ashley will never do this having said that i agree with the bit in bold

he didn't play, what does that prove?
  14. god, remember NE5's be careful what you wish for jive? and then when he started being proven right... feels like we're back on the other side of that whole argument but now ashley is in the freddy seat, problem is there's no-one in the ashley takeover seat
  15. so do you all think he'd turn down hard cash if it was offered by a sponsor then?
  16. because a company doesn't make a profit doesn't mean their creditors aren't due the money, had he wanted to he could have treated nufc as an entirely separate entity and done what he wanted to recoup the monetary value of his loans to the detriment of the club obviously this would have ended up ruining us and reducing the resale value of the club, so since he bought it he's been treading this fine line that's how i read it anyway
  17. still gets me to this day that name, wtf were his parents thinking? and where did nyron come from?
  18. what quayside said (again) people seem to want to have their cake and eat it imo, yeah thanks for keeping the club afloat mike and cheers for those interest free loans, but don't fucking do anything that doesn't bring revenue into the club you massive arsehole
  19. it doesn't, but i can't put it any better than how quayside said it i'm afraid
  20. you honestly, honestly believe that? i don't disagree that the sensible thing to do would be to sell the spots and bring more money into the club but i also fully agree with what quayside says, fat fred sold our advertising like a motherfucker, he also made millions from the club and left it in a financial shambles
  21. 50m transfer kitty for pards in january!! :omg:
  22. i thought quaysides posts would have driven this out of town by now Which posts were these? the ones about not receiving any money for the advertising being a fucking shit argument against them
