i guess i might be wide of the mark here then, was expecting him to go for more than that as strikers are at a premium as always get oooooooon fat mike, sort it oooooot! 10m euro's, job done
-
that's obvious given the timing surely, the question is what next and when from our side? he's scored 20 this season in a small team and has about than 1 in 2 for Lorient, 10m euro isn't derogatory but it's not going to be accepted let's face it
-
well time for trademark negativity - "trying" for me doesn't involve slapping in a bid everyone in the known universe knows won't be accepted (if indeed it's happened) if he's our first choice we have behave accordingly now and go on and push for the extra mile before others get a sniff, not just sit trying to lowball them to death hoping no-one will come in with a higher bid then bemoaning our luck when that happens he's highly rated enough that clubs like spurs will think nothing of spending 10-15 gbp on him in a heartbeat imo prove me wrong ashley, please prove me wrong that you're an absolute cunt and will never change
-
Menez is surely a 10m+ player no? can't see that being right unless we're exploiting some clause again or whatever
-
how has the season as whole been? not shit
-
perhaps that's why we're a perpetual shambles? nah i get that, no reason not to do a deal for a good player of course...i still think they should be killing themselves to get a good striker in, especially if we're going for someone other clubs are looking at, waiting 'til later in the summer rarely results in any good deals for strikers imo
-
nail on fucking head, pretty disappointing to hear our first one through the door looks to be a CM frankly if the club had any sense they'd have worked like fuck to have a good striker signing on early doors to give the fans something to hope for as it is i'll expect them to fuck about again trying to get the best deal (nowt wrong with that) until it's more than likely too late we've got fucking money, strikers cost money, spend the bastard
-
would anyone still flog taylor? don't see who we'd get better for the money we'd rake in for him personally - seems to be developing a knack with goalscoring too
-
did i imagine the bit where people were touting him for england on here then? pretty sure i didn't
-
said that ages ago, consensus seemed to be for anything less that 10m yes - more than that no
-
don't believe this for second Depends on just how much of a puppet he is, in fairness, but going on his comments + the prior agreement, we really didn't have to spend £4.5m on Ben Arfa this January - we could've hung on until this Summer (or just ditched him..?), but according to Pardew he personally wanted to push it through. If he'd had enough clout to get that spent well elsewhere, we could've earned nearly the same sum by finishing higher up the table without much trouble... wullie said he had the opportunity to buy cover and opted not to bother, that's very different imo we'll never know, but i don't believe pardew would sit there with 'x' amount to spend and not spend it if he could have sorted something decent perhaps the HBA signing was mostly a show of faith to the lad instead of waiting to the summer and him potentially not agreeing the deal - seems to have worked on a number of levels that actually (well if you believe what you read about the way it was received in france), if we do some decent deals from france and this had a bearing then it'll have been well played there's too much we don't know about the last window imo, it was daft
-
i've barely seen the lad play if i'm honest but my perspective of him since he signed (EDIT: should have said from this forum) has been he started badly and everyone said he was shite, at some point this season (after his injury iirc) people started to rate him quite highly to the point where England was mentioned, and now he's back to shite again

Right, you were serious. In that case, everything after the Souness comment. I don't think Pardew has much of a chance to build on things, I am just waiting until he fucks up and/or leaves the club, and I can't really enjoy any of the games in the mean time as a result, similar to when Souness was here. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTAGcnpPZVpSdB8j__lIZCQGqlnnz4DtdYbS5gvi5GnKsGT9NiQDA
-
was more like WTF for me at that time rather than fury (although i was furious SBR had been bagged and how they did it) - it was so patently obvious why Souness was chosen and while i didn't necessarily agree with it i could understand it
-
well you've gone from title challengers to should have qualified for the CL, i think they have enough quality to make the CL too - aside from the fact they don't have any decent strikers, redknapp knew this hence some of their ridiculous bids in the january window
-
brutal truth, the best kind
-
erm, what? it's traditional to have at least one top class striker if you're going to mount a title challenge dude oh and 2 of your centre halves probably shouldn't be permanent cripples
-
what are you basing this on? in the fact that he has only excelled playing for Barcelona which really only plays in a certain way the other option being totally insane and chaotic Argentina, so yeah that's a fair judgement i guess EDIT: oh yeah, and are you trying to suggest that C. Ronaldo has been in teams playing badly week in week out? fair enough they can't overhaul Barca or play the same football but he's hardly feeding on scraps from an Alan Smith/Danny Guthrie midfield is he?
-
what are you basing this on?

and they still didn't win, NUFC breed it into players man

perhaps indeed - some of the stuff you hear from Barton about goings on doesn't sound massively encouraging does it? although barton was as much to blame as anyone maybe man management isn't his thing, also probably the first time he failed at anything in football - he'd always been part of a team so he couldn't be held accountable for NUFC not winning things but when he took us down i'm sure it was not the outcome he was expecting -

maybe the brief time at NUFC and the way he perceives (correctly or not) the way he was treated has made him reassess what he wants to do...
