Probably just means he's more honest, rather than more cynical, than most players, but still, not sure I particularly like that attitude... remember that, don't see why someone aware enough to know why he's playing would perform any worse than a thick-as-pigshit primadonna who does it for the love of the game, which basically few top players do now anyway - more chance of money affecting them tbh anyways just seem to remember hearing he'd had a good season, maybe wrong

how's that ekotto doing at spurs? would anyone take him and decent cash in exchange for jose if that's the way it went?

Llambias happens to be a major part of the regime that you have so much faith in Ah - so that old toss gets wheeled out again. So you don't have faith in them then? I'm puzzled I don't trust them It's pretty straightforward really.... All I needed to know thanks And I learned nothing I didn't already know from that. That's what happens when you have no agenda wow

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13351862.stm fucking hell, i mean i knew they'd overtaken liverpool but never seen in perspective like that - 12 titles for Fergie, not far from 2/3 the titles won in the clubs entire history holy fucking shit man

that's an amazing statement to make and there's virtually nothing to support it For me, it's the difference between reacting to events, and shaping events. At first, he inherited a mess, tried and failed to turn it round, then tried to get out. That chaotic phase is over, he's collected valuable experience (and he and his crew were novices to start off with), and he now looks committed and more confident. The two decisions that I highlighted - over Carroll and Pardew - showed the kind of boldness and confidence that was needed and was lacking at first. The club is in a far better state now than when he found it. You can hang on to the grievances of the past, but it's well time now to move forward. i'm not really hanging onto anything, i'm just saying that there's nothing to support the idea "he's got to grips with the job" he sacked a manager doing well and brought in a manager nobody considers top class (albeit one that's done well enough since arriving), and he agreed to sell our best striker and not have any type of replacement lined up when safety was not 100% confirmed as always this summer will dictate if you're right or wrong, as it stands he's made two more controversial decisions that may or may not end up being good ones

Show me a club which brings in 7 players in one summer and I'll show you one managed by Steve Bruce.

i'm starting to think Twitter's true function in life is/should be to expose rich arseholes for the bellends/frauds that they are

this The willingness to play the kids has only came about because of injuries and possible suspensions, he had the chance to use kids in hte FA Cup and didn't take it. I was pleased with his substitutions against Chelsea but it wasn't all out of choice, I'm sure if it was down to choice then they wouldn't have even been on the bench. Aye, but the number of times in the last 3 or 4 seasons we've had a bench like a crèche and we've simply not made any subs at all. Particularly when half-fit cloggers like Shola and Butt were trundling around the pitch and yet we'd not give the kids even five minutes to show some impetus. and this
-
probably been said like but i like his willingness to put the kids in and give them a chance personally - i honestly think if a kid has the talent he'll get his chance and that really has not always been the case for us

'I know how the press work: they’ve written the story and they just want you to give them the headline.’ Sho 'nuff. -
under shepherd i spent enough time whinging about him racking up the debt and wanting to develop youth more etc. still standby by that, i'm just one of the crowd who think that whenever we do this under MA it's very unlikely to every be for the long-term benefit of the club rather than for MA i prefer the clubs approach to transfers incoming (and outgoing) x1,000 these days, there just aren't enough of them so far for me
-
no no fair enough, coming back to the thread i knew i'd weighted the question - but that's 'cause under MA i don't think we will operate in between but anyway i'm of the same opinion as you tbh - i mean if we'd had a city style takeover i couldn't say i wouldn't be able to enjoy the ride but as we haven't had one i'd prefer to operate as a "proper" club too
-
would you hate it more than spending the next 5-10 years trying to find and develop new players so they can be sold to clubs with more ambition and money (regardless of the origin of the money)? genuine question like, not taking the piss

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

you've yet to prove to me that it isn't btw, you've not addressed the old windows since ashley took the club also i don't think january was "representative" in that selling carroll and not replacing him was a massive blow to the club as a whole so it had more of an effect than selling a single player should have done...but it was representative in that we started it needing to add a striker and ended it losing one what's representative of ashley's dealings in the transfer market, which you seem to have trouble grasping yourself, is that: i'm proposing we'll end the window with maybe a couple of problems addressed but certainly by no means enough, once again, and people will be looking to the next window for them to be fixed it's not hard - look at what we need to do, who we need to/will ship out: smith, guthrie, loven, campbell, rout, perch, raylor, xisco, because they don't or can't contribute enough to NUFC how many of them will go and be replaced by quality? will we get a backup left back? will we get a top class striker? even just one... seriously, what's your prediction 'cause mine is pretty clear and it's based on MA's history in the market...one thing i'll give you is that he's had 2 "big" summer windows out of 3 but only one of those had a decent net spend (his first at the club) and the other one we lost milner to counter some of the spending on colo etc. i started the whole "next summer" thing on the back of a post about spurs selling their best players in order to build a squad and push on, which they've done (oh and they've also had to spend a lot more than they took in through transfer fees only), there's really little chance of this happening under MA imo which makes selling carroll pointless if we don't use that money to progress, and we won't progress with a strike force of shola/best/loven/ranger let alone anywhere else on the pitch -

it's so tragically inevitable that on 1st september this will all be repeating itself, i.e. let's see what happens in january - been the same since the moment ashley bought the club Rubbish. Agreed Jonny, I have no idea why people keep on repeating this eventhough they have absolutely nothing to back up their claim, it's all speculation nonsense solely based on the last Jan transfer window and ignoring all the others which imo we've not done too badly. bullshit right back at you both under ashley how many windows have we come out of saying "we did well there"? the first one under allardyce i'd suggest, and maybe the colo/jonas one but imo we've stood still or gone backwards in every other window squad-wise What's that got to do with the Summer? You said that if we don't strengthen, people will say "well let's wait til January" etc. That's rubbish. WTF. I've posted a list of transfer windows under ashley where I've suggested that he's maybe done ok-well in 2 of 6 windows. This, as Venkman and I agree, suggests some type of history on his part. He also has history in selling players for perceived good money (Milner, Zog) and not replacing them properly. How can this have nothing to do with the impending summer transfer activity, it has everything to do with it. I suppose it's all different now because he has 35m is it? Well my supposition is that we'll end the window once again lacking the reinforcements we clearly need in key areas and I base this on Mike Ashley's history in the transfer market since he took over the club. Or are you taking issue with me saying people will say "let's wait until January"? If we don't strengthen properly there'll be no revolt, no protests, fuck all. The club will issue some shit about deals being hard to close, we were close on a number of amazing deals and that they'll fix it in the next window. But yeah, neither of us can say with any certainty which outcome will be the more accurate until 1st September, so let's shut the board down shall we and reconvene then for a post-mortem?
