We're hardly going to have teams queuing up to sign him. He's English, young and over-rated...there'll be a queue alright, they'll just be expecting him a lot cheaper now. -

I disagree. EDIT: was having trouble there being able to type so before this gets out of hand what i mean is what Niel said really. The hockey thing was about how they changed the game from negative to positive and this is what I meant. I hated watching Chelsea (particularly) and manyoo in those years as they had big physical players (Ronaldo even) and would adopt a "stop them" attitude instead of a "go out and beat them" one against the top continental teams. I distinctly recall that Spanish LB for Chelski trying to murder Messi and being sent of for it but that's just one of a few games they played. I'm not on about a Bolton/Allardyce thing, just saying I'm pleased that after a couple of years adapting skill appeared to have won the day when Barca took the title. Hope it continues. You mean when Chelsea absolutely battered Barcelona both offensively and defensivley for 90 minutes only to be denied by some pathetic officiating and ultimatly beaten by Barcelona's first shot on target? Yeah that season. Payback I'd call it.

Specifics allude but that all sounds right.

Yeah, I'm talking about Chelsea kicking barca off the pitch in earlier seasons and the run culminating in the manyoo/chelski anti-football nightmare. Not so much Arsenal but the other two bullied their way through competition for a while. Fact.

They done much outside of US sports?

I remember being pleased when Barca won the CL the last time as it was starting to look like the English physical / power game was about to start dominating. Hopefully that never happens. Skill should always win the day and the people in charge should be making sure that happens via their enforcement of the rules. Broken legs won't keep people paying to watch the PL.

It's a FIFA rule not an FA one. When they punished Thatcher for the elbow they had to apply to FIFA for dispensation.

EU law says there must be free trade across the EU. The games she is broadcasting have also been bought from the premier league, why should they not be allowed to sell their product anywhere in the EU? The premiership saying that is not allowed restricts the free trade in the EU. That's her point and it is a good one. I'd imagine it comes down to redistribution clauses. If the Greeks or whoever have no redistribution clauses in their contracts then fair enough. If they do then she's f***ed. If she broadcasts Arab s*** she's probably f***ed. The law is the law man. Its the clauses that she is claiming are breaking the free trade laws. The premier league do not write the law. So back to the start, she's fucked then. Whoever has the money writes the law.

Nope, system works fine. PL is fucked as they have no concept of who keeps the game running for them. I would never, NEVER blame the media for what they do in this respect.

If the Germans can show our games it's 'cause they paid for the rights. I'm as horribly left as they come but we live in a capitalist society and football is whoring itself like any other sport would to make money for it's owners. Get with the programme.
-
Sky don't own anything. The PL own the rights to their games and it's up to them who the sell the rights to. Just so happens Sky have always, and probably will always, bid the biggest amount of money up front. The alternative for the league is to head into the unknown and try to break up the service and increase the bidders. Tbf I'd sell to sky too.

Horrible misery that he is oldtype said it well for me once: what the fuck are they doing not selling games for 20 quid over the internet? I'd pay it to watch the toon in a heartbeat and so would millions of others. Same closed-minded shit from the English game I suppose.
-
Erm. A company signs a deal with a sports consortium for visual rights to their games. Someone broadcasts the same games via a different, cheaper, means essentially breaking the law. How has it got this far? She's fucked, will be fucked, and rightly so.
