Messi: "On the plane on the way to the World Cup Carlitos made me listen to Oasis's first two albums. I have to say I wasn't expecting much but it is some of the best material I have ever heard. They are absolutely amazing. Their songs are incredible. I have been listening to their stuff in my hotel room, on the way to matches and in the dressing room. I've been watching their live performances on YouTube and they look like they'd be amazing to see in concert. We have agreed that if we win the World Cup, we want to fly them over to Argentina for our celebration party. We just need them to name their price" great player, fuckin shit taste in music

Agreed. As much as i'd like to see Terry in the gutter; booting him straight out of the squad is the easy way out imo. He's still a gifted footballer and easily one of our very best on his day. I don't think getting rid of him now would be particularly beneficial to the squad; we don't want the alleged fear factor being enhanced any more than it already is. I said this in a nother thread but I'll repeat. I'd purge the squad of the dross after this world cup and fill it with the talented and hungry youngsters we have in this country. They may not be ready just yet and we may not qualify for the Euro's but it would be better for us in the long run to blood the youngsters now than carry on with the same tired old shite we have seen over the last two weeks. unthinkable for the suits at the FA, no interest in the long term health of the game, only appeasing the media and raking in the money while they do it

neither am i carrick sitting deep for me, and Lennon & SWP should be banished to the depths of whatever hell "run fast with no brain" takes you to, both should be plan c's not plan a's carrick for barry and j cole for lennon and we're there, with either lampard or gerrard playing high up behind the striker Man Utd mate of mine reckons Carrick has been utter wank this season and shouldn't get a look in. Who would you play on the left btw? we're too hung up on positions, play the players with the technical ability and intelligence to play football, that's it (within reason)..lampards chelsea play cole/malouda/anelka/drogba who all drift, works for them carrick has had a hard season, but he's the best passer of the ball we have, the end he should start if fit

i'm assuming you're english...not scoring more than 2 is bad is it?

can you quantify that Dave? Do you mean statistically? I can't be bothered to look it up to be perfectly honest, I just feel far more let down by Gerrard over the years considering what he has done for Liverpool in the same timeframe. well i'm the same but the other way, FL has scored 20+ goals in the PL for 5 seasons running 5 seasons he couldn't hit a 10 yard pass against the states domestic and international football are 2 different things In what way? i answered it in another thread, essentially club teams being built around players and them failing to adapt when taken out of the comfort zone

Gerrard was worldclass against Germany 5-1. Apart from that neither Gerrard & Lampard have really done anything of note for me. Short memory. Lampard was easily the driving force behind WC 06 qualification. Not to mention his excellent performances in Euro 04. and when the major tournament games came around? Read it again, Shakespeare. i don't recall a great FL performance from that tournament, i remember rooney being close to making himself a legend but that's all hands up though, i might just have missed all the games FL ran

I'll call shenanigans on Lampard then, probably Terry too. Cappello, who has won almost everything in the game of football, can't make Lampard work at International level neither could all of the other previous managers...so it's them is it? And not Frank. It's only Steve Mac and Capello who've failed. Lampard scored and created a lot under Sven. In which major tournaments? 1 out of 2. when did he perform? what games did he run and win for us? i know we've been here before but he doesn't have the right stuff for international football ( as an Englishman) no matter how much you try to say he does He doesn't have the right stuff for Algeria and USA but consistently gets more goals and assists than anyone from midfield in the world's best league? It's utter tripe, man. Give him the freedom to play higher up the park and he'll excel. gah! you've actually just said "the worlds best league", and meant it wow ok...so what excuses him then? seriously 'cause he can't pass or score or even be dangerous...it truly eludes me what he offers when not playing for chelsea, and that goes for Terry too. Now you're taking the piss. Show me a better English CB than Terry who isn't Rio Ferdinand. that's not the point i'm making, the point i'm making is that frank and john are great in SW1 with everyone bowing to their demands but they don't cut the mustard against top class opposition because they can't adapt to a different style of play (more so FL than JT granted) the point being, cappello should pick a team that works, not the best 11 players for their club sides, there's a difference

 ahem, can you quantify that in any way?

i assume you saw that first time, half volley pass he did for barca last season? landed on the strikers boot...xavi should be talked about with cruyff and backenbauer for me, a wonderful, wonderful player There's so many things that that could be, which kind of proves the point. I didn't see Barca much last season, but the season before tht I saw every game, he was just ridiculously good. ask village idiot who it was against, it was beyond glorious...i like to think i have a sweet pass in me but this was diabolical

lets assume club management has some involvement...i'd imagine an actual shop receipt barcode selotaped to a white t-shirt would have got past llamblias and co

Bobby's record in his career was nothing compared to Capello's tbf. How dare you slander the good lords name. How about you take your rose tinted geps off? Sir Bobby over eight years and 95 matches had a 49.47 win percentage. Capello over two years and 26 matches have a 69.23 win percentage. You had an absolute dross qualifying group this time around, though, which makes Capello seem more impressive in win % than Sir Bobby. I said over their careers, which meant the comment wasn't exclusive just to England. I hope you are taking away his time at Juventus where he was manager when the match fixing went on then. (and got stripped of both his titles) take away those two seasons, when there was zero implication he was involved as i understand it, and he's still one of the most successful managers of his generation
