Hoping this insight doesn't mean that we're more fucked than we might have believed? jee-sus christ that's worrying, very very worrying indeed

fuckin hell, how slow is he? sign beckford then
-

He's the best right-back at the club and it is his best position. He can get away with his poor marking when he plays there, plus he gets to be the Geordie hero he wants to be because he can bomb forward.

Who would you sign on our budget instead? what's our budget? EDIT: i'd go for a loan myself ahead of Boyd - have to agree that he's scored a lot of goals against shit up in Scotland, just don't see him cutting it...a lot might depend on the type of game we play though and how hughton expects him to fit into that, i.e. no point in loaning or signing a great technical striker if we're gonna be hoofing the ball up and looking for scraps in and around the box, in that case Boyd might be what the doctor ordered Next to nothing. Loans often aren't 'free' either, who would you get on loan? as i said a lot would depend on the type of game hughton plans on playing next season doesn't it? not point me saying "try and loan macheda" if he wants to play 2 beasts like carrol up front and long ball it up to them...equally there'd be little point in going for a "wilshere" on loan either for the same reason the point is there's a lot out there, clubs like man city, chelsea, inter etc. collect players like football cards these days and i'm sure a club like us could do better than boyd via the loan system - UNLESS that is boyds poaching style is what hughton really wants in his team, in case he should go for it going for the lad only 'cause he's out of contract is not what we should be doing, is the point i'm making i suppose, however if he's really who hughton wants then so be it - personally i reckon he'll bomb

"That story was not in the best interest of English football once again the boys at NUFC show they know the media game inside out

All about the money. Shocking lack of ambition. they also signed Bakari Kone from Marseille. I remember he cost a canny amount (around 10 million euros) when he transferred from OGC Nice 2 seasons back. We got about half of that back, so no big loss really. I liked Bakari, but his lack of size and cognitive function was always going to limit his chances under Deschamps. Those boys in the Middle East must certainly be putting real money on the table. Both of these players didn't hesitate to leave despite inevitable interest from Ligue 1 and the Premiership. first thing i look for in my fooballers!

as things look right now Real are gonna have to dance with the Devil to usurp Barca - Real have just spent however many 100's millions and had their most successful ever points season in the league and couldn't stop them Barca have just signed Villa and looking at Fabregas, they're settled with players and staff at the moment and show no signs of letting up in the hunt for trophy's Real will take Mourinho just to stop a period of Barca dominance if you ask me

just clocked this and it dawned on me how fucking stupid it sounds, why couldn't they just have called themselves LA FC & Kansas City or whatever razzmatazz bullshit American sport tradition having fancy names, I find it a part of the charm as long as it stays in the states and doesn't come near Europe. that's why it boiled my piss, mate of mine from Scotland was recently telling me about his bairns team and they're called the fucking dragons or something won't be long man, won't be long

i believe it, looks cheap, tacky and thoughtless like everything about the club these days away shirts are canny actually, shame they never bothered to put any effort into the shirt we'll be wearing most of the time

this is how it should go for this season for me: best player: messi manager: Gregorio Manzano (wish it was pep, but mallorca have been a miracle this season) goalkeeper: Victor Valdes (was critical of him before this season, but proved me wrong and should be spain's number one in south africa) defender: Pique (awesome season from a player most considered back-up just over a year ago for milito or puyol, potentially could be better than the general) midfielder: Xabi Alonso (he's been the guy that has made madrid tick) attacking midfielder: (can't decide yet) striker: messi (to me this guy is the best player we've had to grace us playing the beautiful game) best young player: Pedro (what a revelation, this boy has got great potential how barca produce so many class players is beyond me). best new player; Ronaldo (simply carried madrid by himself at times, brilliant player but not in same league as messi in terms of overall package) xabi alonso ahead of xavi!!! you'll not get many takers there surely?

no idea if posting this works but here's the facial hair of choice for next season: http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/comment/9/2009/11/751d89afcf51046db78c8083fb570933/original.png Starburns!!!

Yeah, the money spent on Valdes, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Messi, Bojan and Pedro was way ott. If only they could build a team around youth products like Madrid or Chelsea. €35M on Dani Alves, €50M+Eto'o on Ibra, €25M on Chrygyrnsgyhychrchrynski, €25M on Henry, €20M on Milito. Alot for Keirrison too, €15M? Now a reported €50M for Villa and €30-40 for Fabregas? That's all in recent times too. However, I understand the youth system is incredible, yes, but I'm sure alot of money is put into it (well spent, mind). Your best players are from the youth academy, this outrageous spending on players isn't necessary, many of your big signings flop anyway. bit of catch 22 there though, if you have 6-7 academy graduates who are all of a very high standard what do you do, not sign 'marquis' players on principle? patch the squad up with cheap fillers and hope the academy lads can run the whole season? niet barca have it spot on imo...it's not like they're paying what they did for ibra and never gonna get any money back if they move him on, henry's the only example of that really and he was a good signing for them at the time they probably pay over the odds but then so do all of the top clubs man u are a good example this season of what happens when the ronaldos and tevezs of this world leave and get replaced with the machedas, owens and valencias...they fall short
-
Even though he's not going as far as you suggest, he's still making a gesture by saying 'I've been paid for nowt this year, so will play for nowt when my contract runs out'. Seems a bit tight to nit-pick and say it's a shit gesture, when he didn't have to make any gesture at all. fair comment like, just think people are going a bit overboard when it's arguable if he'll even be around to play a season for fuck all by then...but yeah, suppose it's better than being all michaelowen about it
-
is it not 'cause he's free? i assumed that's why he was a dead cert to leave rangers, and we're expected to only bring in frees and loans or some shit
-
how come no-one understands he's gonna get paid for the next 2 seasons? if he'd have really meant the gesture he'd have said not to pay him next year but more then likely he'll know there's no chance of him staying at milan for another 3 years if they ever want to improve to their old standards as a club but hey ho, well done gooch you're a good 'un

His stock keeps rising, shame we (the club) were so short sighted (including many of the fans) he would never had made it so well with us, aside from the instability due to constant board and managerial changes lets face it we've not exactly got a track record of coaching the best out of players have we? i remember brummie saying he thought villas coaches would get a lot out of milner when they signed him and he's right, that shits not just happening by accident and our players mostly regress for that exact reason imo yeah spot on. Take Duff for example, i know he is significantly older than Milner but i still think this applies. I know his poor spell at Newcastle may well have been partly due to him not being fully committed to the cause, but a large part of it has to go down how he was coached here and how he was told to play. If you look at his impressive season at Fulham, you cant put it all down to him suddenly becoming inspired and motivated again, it has a lot to do with the way he has been coached at Fulham and the structures he has been put in that suit him quite well. In Milners case, from what i understand we insisted on using him as a winger, and now Villa have stuck him in the middle and he is flourishing. I believe this is a big reason as to why high quality players fail to sustain their form when moving on to another club. why would he not be fully comitted to the cause but is at fulham ? more likely it's poor tactics making everyone look bad and leading onto a lack of confidence in themselves and their teammates. that shit snowballs too, after SBR things basically got progressively worse season on season, manager by manager, until it all culminated in relegation obvious really

"Onyewu has requested and obtained a contract extension from 30 June 2012 until 30 June 2013. With respect to that year, as was his wish, which has been appreciated by the club, Onyewu has asked not to receive any type of wages. This is an exemplary gesture that deserves our sincere congratulations." long ways away that man, he's more likely to have been shipped out by then in which case it'll be moot and he'll have been paid for the next 2 seasons
