  1. I'll call shenanigans on Lampard then, probably Terry too. Cappello, who has won almost everything in the game of football, can't make Lampard work at International level neither could all of the other previous managers...so it's them is it? And not Frank. It's only Steve Mac and Capello who've failed. Lampard scored and created a lot under Sven. In which major tournaments?
  2. the posture and expression of the guy on the left basically represents this thread!!

  4. Lampard has proved with Essien, Drogba, Obi Mikel and Malouda and Ballack around him that he can look good at Chelsea. FYP He is still a top drawer player though and he does look better playing with them but i think that is as much down to them knowing each others games better rather than just ability. Especially with Mikel as I don't rate him in the slightest. i never know what people can't understand about this - football is littered with players who are consistently good or great at club or even european level but once taken out of their comfort zone and put into an unfamiliar team they don't perform this is frank lampard, he's virtually the dictionary definition of it really Not to mention he is part of a Chelsea side that routinely roll over 90% of the opposition. When up against a team of other international players with good technique and no fear, reagardless of the size of the country I'm sure they start doubting themselves when things don't go well the first 20 minutes. Every professional team in the world can match you for effort....its that little bt of extra skill and technique that will take you past teams. Sadly we lack it, all we have is a bunch of blokes that can run for 90s. The countries set up for producing players is totally incorrect, this is what happens when you allow load mouth cunts like Howard Wilkinson in. Ball skill and control over fitness anytime. Agreed. Thought Beckenbauer said it right (unfortunately) - kick and rush football is what England are playing and he's right. I wanted to cry at some of Lampard's passing during the US game, not just him, but he stands out in my mind as the worst offender simply due to the hype surrounding him. Carrick needs to be in the team right now as he's one of the only players with good technique, passing range and vision. With the space Rooney & Gerrard can make for themselves we'll be OK with that setup but not if we just hopelessly hoy it up the pitch again. My worst fear, in a way, is that for once the "names" play a half decent game and we beat Slovenia to go through 'cause it would only paper over the cracks 'til we met someone good. Far prefer us to work out what's going wrong now 'cause it's fuckin obvious.

  6. Erm He tried to play Gerrard, Lampard and Barry in the same team WHy play a DM against a team that is happy to sit deep?? Why play Gerrard on the left? Drop fucking Lumpard and stick Carrick on, drop Barry and put Joe Cole on the left. Trying to take away the blame from FC, unreal. He is to blame as much as the players. nailed on all counts it's bothered me that against the two teams we've played so far he (and the team) have set up so overly-cautious...piss poor, we should have thrown the kitchen sink at them both and they'd never have known what hit them the US actually play a style that's fairly similar to the British game, sad thing is they're actually doing it better than us now we're in such a godawful state
  7. fucking hell man, isn't he on a reported 6m a year or something stupid? who the hell hands out a contract for 4 years @ 24m GBP without some form or performance related clause in it? [assuming this isn't bullshit]
  8. don't think i've ever seen anyone post 5 consecutive posts before on any thread well done, one is even a reply to yourself sorry man, you're a great source of knowledge, just amused me for some reason
  9. Haven't you just concisely summed up England's problems there? Cappello is not picking a team to of players that complement each other thus far, he's basically just best the "best players". Better off dropping 2/3 of the "names" and replacing them with people who can contribute overall. I'd have Lampard out of that team in a heartbeat, he's never gonna perform in a WC to the level he needs to. And before people start if not him then ship Gerrard out and play to Lampard's strengths and so on. Which ever one it is the above remains the key.
  10. that chuck norriss one
  11. how many crap games and crap performances make you bad side then?
  12. i don't think there is an easy run in for struggling teams at the bottom, many results at that time actually come against teams higher up
  13. no idea why but this had me belly laughing...
  14. Might also be out of sync because of some of their players will have adopted their country's style of play over the WC period.
  15. presumably something in his (and footballers in general) contract that makes him liable if he does something fucking stupid like he did
  16. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/8743027.stm Gerrard you could understand, but like Torres give a fuck about them appointing Dalglish. more quality from pedro, Torres was born in 1984
  17. hey oldtype i paid paid particular attention to your man Cha in the first game and he's fuckin class - i too remember him as a shockingly bad forward but he appears to be the classic example of someone being moved to his natural position did everything right, everything; his distribution, timing and positioning were great - making no mention of his strength and pace...reminded me of Seitaridis when Greece won the Euros actually, an unplayable fullback have him at the toon in a heartbeat He had a great game and I'd love us to sign him but... er... yeah, I suggest we look at how he does against Argentina before calling him "unplayable." I have a serious man-crush on him but he's been a joke for too long for me to believe that he's suddenly hit his prime at age 29. just said he reminded me not that he was!!! big, strong, quick full back is what he looks like, simples...best kind oh and judging him against Argentina! harsh in the extreme, maybe Nigeria would be better as a leveller
  18. Nobody would have a problem if you could only hear them when South Africa are playing. But playing them at games of other teams is a complete lack of respect. Imagine if England were hosting the world cup, and at every game where england weren't playing you'd have all the locals chanting England songs. It's the same thing and nobody would stand for it. Why on earth do we need these morons 'expressing themselves' at games where their team isn't even fucking playing? Worst world cup I've had the misfortune of watching, thankfully it'll be remembred that way and we'll never have to put up with the same shite again. what a post
  19. France tbh. agreed, russia (soviet) runs it close mind
  20. sitting on a beach apparently. must have been on holiday in Cumbria and been in the wrong taxi queue/solicitors office
  21. its a fair point, people (English people especially) are quick to forget that pace and strength aren't the most important factors in international football
  22. depends on your national anthem surely? i'm as english as they come but singing about the queen can ain't gonna happen, for example who knows what the lyrics are to other nat anthems?
  23. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,68821.0.html oldtype this is what i was looking for earlier, Cha looks the part i have to say
  24. ha! was just saying the same, underwhelming is the word so far even the fixtures don't excite me - i haven't looked at a game so far and thought i have to see that (except england)
