Anybody else and they'd have been dropped by now. you two are fucked, utterly fucked if you believe that

So you genuinely think Rooney is better than David Villa and Drogba? he's probably top 10 at best, but the point stands - bad stretch of games at the wrong time however, one thing Rooney has to correct, and quick, is his fucking attitude - remember when Shearer didn't score for 12 games for '96? he wasn't standing about with his hands on his hips blaming other people for his his mistakes something has gone in that boys head and it needs righting, quick...reminds me a little of how he left everton...felt they turned on him so he never so much as looked back, if he feels the press and fans have done the same for england he might never come back

his eyes and or his fake bullet proof jacket, likes he's in fuckin Iraq or something oh and he's bald

so i might be 3 years late with this but noticed the other day in a WC game (i think) that the reason umbro don't align the umbro symbol and the club badge on their strips is to accomodate the player number, which then balances it couldn't imagine a reason for it, til now...actually looks very good too

for all the people talking about kevin prince boateng please, take a look at him right now in the WA, have a look at his neck and arm tattoos and tell how you think he'd pan out in newcastle

Again assuming those stats are right going back as far as 2004/2005 season inclusive statistically Rooney has outperformed Drogba four times while Drogba has outperformed Rooney twice. All on goals and assists only. Drogba has scored 2 more goals in all comps than Rooney over 6 seasons. Lots of it is marginal, last season Drogba had 4 goals & assists more than Rooney. 2008/2009 Rooney had 8 goals and 12 assists more than Drogba. Anyway to sum up I don't think the evidence is overwhelming to be honest. Both have just had exceptional club seasons, Drogba playing in the stronger, more settled team helped him this season as it did Rooney the one before that. Rooney has had a dip in form and confidence at the WC but there doesn't appear to be as much in it as you say, assuming we're talking about scoring and creating goals?

no upsets in there at all, i'd be amazed if all those games went to the favourites - someone will get turned over (England/Germany is a close call as they're similar stature obviously)

Drogba: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=18727&cc=4716 Rooney: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=21046&cc=4716 Quick sums on assists is 49 for Drogba and 78 for Rooney during the same period in all comps. Not put a great deal of thought into it in case it's inaccurate and I'm not sure how reliable ESPN stats would be. But anyway...
-
never thought of Drogba as that creative for others and again can't arsed to look up the stats but it feels like Rooney should be the more creative player of the two you appear to have discussed it a lot so i'll assume the stats bear that comment out

Have a word sunbeam he may be knacker but he is hardly TYPICAL PREMIERSHIP!!! He is one of the best best defenders in it. also, doesn't it show a fairly high degree of footballing awareness and intelligence to realise mid-dive he'd likely be committing handball and then adjusting to get his hands of out the way? i'm no fan of terry but criticising that is fuckin nuts, like criticising a defender for sliding in to get one off the line in case he hits the post and hurts himself or something stupid like that
-
so, mid-20's then (2 good seasons for Marseille before that iirc, otherwise fairly anonymous)...i couldn't be arsed to look up when he actually appeared on the radar so alls you're saying is that drogba now is a better striker than rooney now, i.e. he scores more goals? i see, i shall have to sit down after taking in this revelation
-
Rooney's goalscoring record is second to none? Is this not the first season he's hit 20 in the league? This is the first season that Rooney's looked like a natural goalscorer. Drogba has scored more league goals in 3 of the last 4 seasons despite Rooney's recently instated penalty taking responsiblities. why are you continually comparing players who are (a) very different in style & (b) developed at very different stages of their lives you're comparing Rooney who has been playing since age 17 regularly in the top flight vs Drobga who was a nothing nobody until his mid-late 20's but is now admittedly one of the worlds best shouldn't you be making this comparison when Rooney is 30 or trawling over the career of Drogba from age 17 - 23/4 and comparing that?

If you'd grown up in the 80s reading the sun and believing thatcher you'd understand, mate. But aye, I was mostly on the WUM frequency there. FYP Fuck off. I've never read The Sun. uncanny then really, subliminal perhaps

staggering how we went from seemingly having a massive amount of quality in every position (barring the cliched LW problem) to having virtually no CB's, & FW's worthy of the name isn't it? thankfully we've got plenty of pedestrian midfielders who don't perform very well (sounds like NUFC actually)
-
i think that attitude comes from the fact that Rooney hit the ground running for the international team and has performed consistently for England since he was a nipper, i.e. he's looked natural there from the start whereas Lampard has never/rarely looked the part and Gerrard had been less consistent for me this is when you judge a great player and is the reason i'm hoping he comes good against Germany - previously he was undone by his own stupidity/naivity (Portugal sending off) but now is the time he needs to prove what he's made of in a major tournament funny but it's like the Nike ad really: what's Rooney gonna be remembered for? flouncing out of the major tournaments with a pet lip or is he going to carry England to a victory like the great players do for my part i think last season took it's toll, had manu strolled to the title and given Rooney some rest he'd be a different player right now point stands though, actions not words please

be close but we'll beat them, assuming capello doesn't do anything fucking stupid with his selection rooney will get better, i reckon he's got a fucking in store for someone and it's going to be the germans

Couldn't agree more, to be honest. Found the Cole obsession rather bizarre. Although I do agree with Kid Icarus that he was a highlight in the last world cup, but that was 4 years ago. Hardly a reason to be given the benefit of the doubt this time round. And he wasn't actually that good, to be fair. all well and good, and i'd agree if capello had found something different to do but he didn't - it's all well and good being smart enough to see that jcole isn't your answer...the point is being able to see what IS your answer Well, we won, didn't we? Today was just about getting a win, it did not have to be pretty. none of those quotes were "today" specific agree today was about the win, but wins like that HAVE to be the watershed in events - capello HAS to realise where he went wrong and what is required to go right immediately or it's over before it's begun
-
maybe the fact we can't name them is great, maybe the next generation won't end up being self-serving dickheads like half the team now, maybe they'll want play for the shirt and the game rather than their next contract but i doubt it
